To catch an Uber at Montreal-Trudeau (YUL), collect your bags and check which product you are ordering. The airport says Uber Deluxe riders go to Door 25 on the arrivals level, while all other Uber types, and Lyft, use the Leigh-Capreol Drop-Off Area, reached through Door 28 and then by following the signs. For departures there is no designated app drop-off; your driver uses the normal departures curb, or one of the express drop-off areas in the afternoon and evening peak.
Price is the other half of the question. App fares at YUL move with demand, but Quebec law requires the app to show you a maximum price in writing, and get your agreement, before a driver is told about the request. This guide from the Elly8.net reservations desk, which books YUL pickups every day, explains both, compares the app with the airport's fixed taxi fare, and shows when a pre-booked car at a fixed price from US$120 is worth it.
Where do you get an Uber at Montreal airport?
At YUL, Uber Deluxe pickups are at Door 25 on the arrivals level. Other Uber types and Lyft pick up at the Leigh-Capreol Drop-Off Area: go out through Door 28 on the arrivals level and follow the signs. Check the app for the exact spot before you request, and wait until you have your bags.
That guidance comes from the airport's rideshare page, which lists Uber and Lyft as the two rideshare services at YUL. The split matters on a busy evening: if you order a standard Uber and wait at Door 25, or a Deluxe and walk to Leigh-Capreol, you will lose time finding each other.

Step by step: an app pickup at YUL
- Clear customs and collect your bags. YUL's arrivals guide notes that you collect checked luggage after border control.
- Choose your product in the app. The address and pickup point change with the product.
- Walk to the right door. Door 25 for Uber Deluxe; Door 28 and the signed route to the Leigh-Capreol area for other Uber types and Lyft.
- Request and match the car. Check the licence plate and driver against the app before you get in.
- Load your own bags. A standard app car may not take a family's luggage; larger categories cost more.
Requesting before you have your bags is the most common mistake: the driver arrives while you are still at the carousel, and the match can be lost.
How Uber pricing works at YUL, and what Quebec requires
Uber does not publish a fixed YUL fare, and neither do we guess one. What we can explain is how the price is shaped.
Dynamic pricing. App prices rise when many people request at once and fall when demand is light. At an airport, that means evenings when several international and US flights land together, storms that delay or cancel flights, and late nights when other options thin out.
Quebec's maximum-price rule. The Commission des transports du Quebec explains that a ride can be priced outside the CTQ's taxi rates only when it is requested through an app with no human intervention, and that the app must show the rider the maximum price in writing, and obtain consent, before the driver is informed. In practice, you see a ceiling before you accept. You can decline a quote that is too high and choose the taxi or the bus instead.
The taxi benchmark. YUL's taxi page lists a fixed taxi fare to downtown of C$49.45 between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. and C$56.70 overnight, including the provincial fee. Compare the app's maximum with that number before you accept a ride downtown. Our YUL taxi guide covers the Door 23 rank in full.
Uber, taxi, bus or a pre-booked car from YUL
Airport and transit prices are in Canadian dollars as published; Elly8.net fares are in US dollars, fixed and per vehicle.
| Option | Price to downtown | Where you meet it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber or Lyft (standard) | App shows a maximum before you accept; varies with demand | Leigh-Capreol area via Door 28 | Flexible solo or couple trips at quiet times |
| Uber Deluxe | App price, higher than standard | Door 25 | A premium app ride |
| Taxi | C$49.45 day / C$56.70 night, fixed | Door 23, dispatcher | One or two people, a simple fixed price |
| STM 747 bus | C$11.25, a 24-hour bus and metro pass | 24/7; tickets at the STM counter in international arrivals | Solo budget travel |
| Elly8.net Business Sedan | US$120 fixed, all-in | Inside the arrivals hall, name board | Late flights, meetings, guaranteed pickup |
| Elly8.net Business SUV | US$160 fixed, all-in | Inside the arrivals hall | Families, child seats, up to 6 with bags |
The 747 bus runs 24 hours a day, taking about 30 to 35 minutes on its short route to Lionel-Groulx metro station and 45 to 70 minutes on the long route to the Gare d'autocars de Montreal at Berri-UQAM.
Lyft at YUL
Lyft is the other rideshare service the airport lists. Its riders follow the same route as standard Uber: out through Door 28 on the arrivals level to the Leigh-Capreol Drop-Off Area, then by the signs. Departures work the same way too, with no dedicated app drop-off and the P4 and P10 express drop-off areas suggested from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lyft prices are set in its own app and are subject to the same Quebec rule: you see a maximum price before you accept.
A quick checklist before you accept a quote
- Have your bags? Do not request until you do.
- Right product, right door? Deluxe at Door 25; everything else via Door 28.
- Compare the ceiling. If the app's maximum to downtown is well above the taxi's C$49.45 day fare or C$56.70 night fare, the taxi at Door 23 is the simpler choice.
- Enough room? Count bags. A standard car will not take a family's luggage, and the larger categories cost more.
- Children? If you need a car seat, an app ride is the wrong tool; book a car with seats fitted.
- Going beyond downtown? For Laval, the South Shore or Tremblant, compare the app ceiling with a metered estimate and with a fixed quote.
When the app is the right call
- One or two people, light bags, a quiet hour. The app may come in under the taxi's fixed fare.
- You are heading somewhere the taxi would meter. Compare the app's maximum with a rough meter estimate and pick the lower.
- Your plans are fluid. No booking, no cancellation terms, nothing to change if the flight moves.
That is a perfectly good way to leave YUL, and if it describes your trip, use it.
When a pre-booked car wins
When everyone lands at once. When several flights arrive together, app prices tend to rise and pickup areas fill. A pre-booked Elly8.net chauffeur tracks your flight and is waiting inside arrivals with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. There is no request to make and no price to accept on the spot.
Families. A standard app car does not come with a child seat. Ours are fitted before you land, on request, and a Business SUV at US$160 seats six with six bags.
Groups. Prices are per vehicle, never per person. An Executive Sprinter at US$315 to downtown seats 12 with 12 bags; as arithmetic only, about US$26 each for a full group, in one vehicle rather than several app rides.
Business travel. A corporate account puts every transfer on one monthly invoice, and a fixed price is easier to approve than a dynamic one. See corporate car service.
Further destinations. YUL to the Mont-Tremblant pedestrian village is fixed from US$350 in a Business Sedan; see Mont-Tremblant car service. Ottawa and Quebec City are quoted in the web booker before you pay.

Taking an Uber to YUL for a departure
The airport says there is no specific drop-off area for app rides on departure; the driver leaves you at the departures drop-off zone for your destination. Between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., YUL suggests asking the driver to use the express drop-off areas at P4 or P10 to avoid congestion on the main ramp. The airport's current roadwork notice also says the arrivals drop-off area is closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays until December 19 while the REM light-rail station is built, with traffic sent to the departures ramp.
Flying to the United States? YUL has US pre-clearance after security, so you clear US border formalities in Montreal before boarding. Allow time for it, especially on weekday afternoons. A pre-booked Elly8.net car to YUL is the same fixed fare as the arrival, from US$120 in a Business Sedan.
If a friend is picking you up instead
YUL's arrivals guide says drivers waiting for a passenger can park free at the CellParc, and can meet passengers at one of four boarding zones, A, B, C or D, in the pick-up area. Text your flight number to 23636 for flight-status alerts, according to the airport.
What the Elly8.net fare includes
YUL to downtown Montreal is US$120 in a Business Sedan, US$160 in a Business SUV, US$195 in a First Class SUV, US$210 in a First Class Sedan and US$315 in an Executive Sprinter, and the round trip starts at US$230. Fares include the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Rides in Montreal are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
Booking takes three steps: enter the pickup and drop-off with your flight number, choose the vehicle, and press Reserve now or use the web booker for any other address. Confirmation arrives by email. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 72 hours or less is 10%, 48 hours or less is 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%, refunded to the original card.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the Uber pickup at Montreal airport?
YUL says Uber Deluxe pickups are at Door 25 on the arrivals level. Other Uber types and Lyft use the Leigh-Capreol Drop-Off Area, reached through Door 28 on the arrivals level, then by following the signs. Check the app before requesting.
How much is an Uber from YUL to downtown Montreal?
There is no fixed app fare; the price varies with demand and is shown in the app before you accept. Quebec requires the app to show a maximum price first. For comparison, the airport's fixed taxi fare to downtown is C$49.45 by day and C$56.70 overnight.
Why is Uber so expensive at YUL at night?
Prices rise when many travellers request at once, which happens when several flights land together, after delays and late at night. You see the maximum price before you accept and can choose the taxi, the 747 bus or a pre-booked car instead.
Where do Uber drivers drop off for departures at YUL?
There is no special app drop-off area. Drivers use the departures drop-off zone for your destination, and from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. the airport suggests the express drop-off areas at P4 or P10 to avoid the main ramp. Allow extra time for US pre-clearance on flights to the United States.
Can I pre-book an Uber from YUL?
Check the app's own pre-booking policy. If you want a named chauffeur waiting inside arrivals and a fixed price agreed before you fly, book a pre-arranged car: Elly8.net fares from YUL to downtown start at US$120 in a Business Sedan, all-in.
Is Uber or a taxi better from Montreal airport?
For one or two people with light bags, compare the app's maximum price with the taxi's fixed downtown fare and take the lower. For families, groups, late arrivals and business travellers who need certainty or an invoice, a pre-booked car is usually the better fit.
