A Niagara Falls airport transfer starts at one of three airports: Buffalo Niagara International (BUF), 42 km (26 mi) away across the border; John C. Munro Hamilton International (YHM), 90 km (56 mi) away; or Toronto Pearson (YYZ), 121 km (75 mi) away. Elly8.net fares to the Fallsview hotel district are fixed and all-in per vehicle: from US$185 from Buffalo, US$265 from Hamilton and US$315 from Pearson in a business sedan.

The right airport depends on where you are flying from, who is travelling and whether you want a border on the ground. Once you have landed, the transfer itself follows the same pattern at all three. This guide explains how to choose, then walks through the hour or two between touchdown and your hotel room, including the details that make the difference between a smooth arrival and a long wait at a curb.

Which airport is best for a Niagara Falls transfer?

Buffalo is the closest, about 42 km (26 mi), but the route crosses the Canada-US border. Hamilton is about 90 km (56 mi) with no border and a small, quick terminal. Toronto Pearson is the farthest at 121 km (75 mi), with the most international flights. Business sedan fares start at US$185, US$265 and US$315 respectively.

A few rules of thumb from the desk:

  • US travellers on domestic flights often save time and airfare by landing at Buffalo, then crossing by car. Read the Buffalo airport to Niagara Falls guide for the bridge and document details.
  • Overseas visitors usually land at Pearson, clear Canadian customs there and drive with no further border. The Pearson to Niagara Falls guide covers Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 pickups.
  • Canadian domestic and sun-destination flights sometimes land at Hamilton, which is smaller and quicker to get through.
  • Groups with mixed passports often prefer a Canadian airport, so nobody has to clear a land border in a car.

Before you fly: the details that matter

Most transfer problems start at booking, not at the airport. Give the desk these five things and the rest takes care of itself:

  1. Your flight number, not just the arrival time. The desk tracks the flight, so an early or late landing moves the pickup automatically.
  2. The exact drop-off, including the hotel tower or entrance if the property has several. Fallsview hotels often have separate entrances for the casino, the conference floors and the guest lobby.
  3. Passengers and bags, honestly counted. A business sedan takes up to 3 passengers and 2 bags, a business SUV up to 6 and 6, an Executive Sprinter up to 12 and 12. Golf bags, skis, strollers and wheelchairs need to be mentioned.
  4. Child seats, with each child's age and weight. They are available on request and fitted before pickup.
  5. A mobile number that works on arrival. The chauffeur messages from the arrivals hall if anything changes.

For the Buffalo route, add each passenger's nationality so the desk can flag document questions before you fly. The fleet page has photos and capacities for every class.

From touchdown to the name board

At all three airports your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals area with a name board, and you get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. What happens before you reach that board differs.

At Pearson, international passengers clear customs and immigration before baggage claim; on a busy afternoon, when several long-haul flights land together, that can take a while. Domestic arrivals are faster. At Buffalo, domestic US arrivals go straight to baggage claim in the single terminal. At Hamilton, the terminal is compact; the airport's transportation page notes that taxis wait directly outside the Arrivals doors along the curb and that shuttles and limos are not scheduled and must be pre-arranged.

Because the pickup follows the actual landing, a delay costs nothing extra. Waiting well beyond the included time, such as a long lost-bag claim, is billed at cost. If a bag is missing, tell the chauffeur and file the claim; the car waits.

On the road: what the drive is like

From Buffalo, the drive is short and the border is the variable. The chauffeur checks live waits on the CBP border wait times site and picks a bridge: the Peace Bridge, the Rainbow Bridge or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. Have documents in hand before the booth. Bridge tolls are billed at cost.

From Hamilton, the route crosses the escarpment and heads east along the QEW past St. Catharines. It is the quietest of the three approaches most of the time.

From Pearson, the QEW runs around the western end of Lake Ontario through Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton. Weekday rush hours and summer Friday afternoons can push the 95-minute drive past two hours. The fare stays the same however long it takes.

On the longer drives, tell the chauffeur if you need a short restroom or coffee stop after the flight. A planned detour, such as arriving along the Niagara Parkway through Niagara-on-the-Lake, can be added in the web booker and priced in advance.

The drop-off: hotel driveways and the last few minutes

Our Niagara Falls fares are quoted to the Fallsview hotel district, the high-rise hotels on the escarpment above the Horseshoe Falls around Fallsview Boulevard and the Fallsview Casino Resort. Those driveways are busy and often shared with valets, tour coaches and taxis, so the chauffeur pulls into the hotel's own drop-off lane, unloads the bags and walks them to the door or hands them to the bell desk.

Staying below the escarpment near Clifton Hill, at a bed and breakfast, or in Niagara-on-the-Lake? Enter the address in the web booker for a fixed price to that door. Summer evenings and fireworks nights slow the roads near the Falls, so a late-evening arrival may take a few minutes longer than the clear-road time suggests.

Rides in Niagara Falls are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

Departure day, in reverse

Every one-way airport fare is the same in either direction, so the hotel-to-airport trip costs what the arrival cost, and round trips booked together save on two singles: from US$355 for Buffalo, US$505 for Hamilton and US$600 for Pearson in a business sedan.

The desk sets the pickup time with you. As a guide for weekday travel:

Flying home fromDomestic flight, leave FallsviewUS or international flight, leave Fallsview
Buffalo (BUF)2.5 to 3 hours before departure3 to 3.5 hours, more on summer weekends
Hamilton (YHM)about 3 hours before departureabout 3.5 hours before departure
Toronto Pearson (YYZ)3 to 3.5 hours before departureat least 4 hours before departure

The Buffalo row reflects the southbound border and TSA security; the Pearson row reflects the QEW and, for US-bound flights, US preclearance at the airport. The car arrives at the agreed time and waits; if you are running late, message the desk.

Late arrivals, winter weather and other awkward landings

Some arrivals need more planning than others, and the desk asks about them at booking.

  • Midnight landings. The last flights into Pearson and Buffalo often land when public transport has thinned out and the walk-up queue is unpredictable. A tracked pickup means someone is in the arrivals hall whatever time the wheels touch down, and the hotel's night desk is expecting you.
  • Snow and freezing rain. Lake-effect snow can hit the Buffalo side hard, and the QEW around Hamilton slows in freezing rain. The fare does not change; the chauffeur simply drives the conditions, and the desk may suggest an earlier pickup for the departure leg.
  • Diverted or cancelled flights. If your flight is diverted to another airport, call the desk. A transfer from a different airport is re-quoted at that airport's fixed fare, and the cancellation terms apply to the original booking as usual.
  • Two flights, one group. When a family or a team lands at different times, the desk can hold one Sprinter for the last landing or send a car for each flight. Both are tracked on the same reservation.
  • Accessibility. Tell us about wheelchairs, walkers and mobility needs when you book so the right vehicle is assigned.

When a transfer is not the right booking

If you are one traveller with a carry-on and time to spare, public transport is the economical route from Toronto: the UP Express to Union Station, then GO Transit to Niagara Falls, then a local taxi to the hotel. From Hamilton, the airport lists the HSR A-Line Express to the Hamilton GO Centre. From Buffalo, a taxi or rideshare is fine if your hotel is on the US side. We would rather you book the right option than the most expensive one.

A booked transfer earns its price for couples and families with suitcases, late or overnight arrivals, anyone crossing the border, wedding parties and golf groups, and travellers who want the whole cost known before the trip. For rideshare specifically, our guide to Uber in Niagara Falls explains how app rides work locally, and chauffeur vs airport shuttle compares shared shuttles with a private car.

Beyond the airport run

Many travellers book the transfer and then add a day in wine country or an evening out. The eight-hour Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries day starts at US$810 in a business sedan, the private city highlights tour at US$440 and hourly service at US$110 an hour with a 3-hour minimum. See airport transfers, hourly chauffeur service and the Niagara Falls car service page. If you are continuing to Toronto or Buffalo, one-way trips between our cities are covered by city to city car service.

Frequently asked questions

What is the closest airport to Niagara Falls, Ontario?

Buffalo Niagara International (BUF), about 42 km (26 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, roughly 43 minutes on a clear road plus the border crossing. Hamilton (YHM) is the closest airport with no border, about 90 km (56 mi) away. Toronto Pearson is about 121 km (75 mi).

How much is an airport transfer to Niagara Falls?

Elly8.net fares to the Fallsview hotel district start at US$185 from Buffalo, US$265 from Hamilton and US$315 from Toronto Pearson in a business sedan, per vehicle. An Executive Sprinter for up to 12 people starts at US$485, US$690 and US$820. Fares are fixed and all-in; tolls and parking are billed at cost.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle, always. A business SUV takes up to 6 passengers and 6 bags for one fare, and an Executive Sprinter up to 12 and 12. Dividing a vehicle fare across a group is arithmetic for comparison only; the booking is for the vehicle.

Where does the chauffeur wait?

Inside the arrivals area of the terminal, holding a name board, at all three airports. Add your flight number when you book so the desk can track the landing. You get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, which covers a normal customs and baggage wait.

Can you take us to a hotel outside Fallsview?

Yes. The price list is quoted to the Fallsview hotel district, and the web booker returns a fixed price for any other address, such as a hotel near Clifton Hill, a bed and breakfast or an inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Do you provide child seats on airport transfers?

Yes, on request. Give each child's age and weight when you book so the right seats are fitted before pickup. For the Buffalo route, also make sure every child has an accepted border document.
