Most Houston weddings need fewer cars than couples fear and more planning than they expect. A typical day needs one car for the couple, one vehicle for the wedding party, sometimes a car for parents and grandparents, and, when the ceremony and reception are in different places or the hotel block is far from the venue, a shuttle for guests. In a metro as spread out as Houston, the miles between those places decide the plan.
This guide from the Elly8.net reservations desk gives a counting method, three worked examples, a timeline for the day and a booking calendar. Every price quoted is a fixed, all-in Elly8.net Houston rate per vehicle, from US$95 an hour for a business sedan to US$190 an hour for a 12-seat Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum.
How many cars do you need for a Houston wedding?
Count by group, not by guest. Most weddings need one car for the couple, one vehicle per twelve members of the wedding party, an optional car for family, and guest shuttles only if the ceremony, reception and hotels are apart. A 12-seat Executive Sprinter is US$190 an hour, a First Class sedan US$155, with a 3-hour minimum.
The detail is in who needs to be where, and when. Start with the people who have fixed times: the couple, the wedding party and the closest family. Guests come last, and only need transport if the day asks them to move.

The counting method
1. The couple. One car, usually for the arrival at the ceremony and the exit at the end of the night. A First Class sedan or a Rolls-Royce suits the photographs; a First Class sedan seats up to three with two bags, and a Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Maybach seats two and is priced in the web booker.
2. The wedding party. Divide the number of attendants who need to travel together by twelve and round up: that is how many Executive Sprinters you need. Ten bridesmaids and the bride's mother fit one Sprinter. A stretch limousine seats up to eight, and a stretch SUV limousine up to sixteen, both priced in the web booker. See the classes on our fleet page.
3. Family. Grandparents and parents who should not walk far, or who leave before the reception ends, are best in a separate business SUV for up to six.
4. Guests. Shuttles are needed only when guests cannot easily drive themselves: a ceremony and reception at different venues, a hotel block far from the reception, a venue with little parking, or a reception where you would rather nobody drove home. Divide the guests who will ride by twelve per Sprinter loop, and decide how many loops fit the time available.
That method gives a sensible plan for most weddings in a few minutes. Our wedding limousine and guest shuttles page covers the service itself.
Flower girls, ring bearers and older guests
Young children in the wedding party change the count. A flower girl or ring bearer who needs a car seat takes a seat of its own, so list every child, with their age, when you book; child seats are available on request and fitted before pickup. Children usually travel best with a parent in the family SUV rather than in the busy wedding-party Sprinter. For grandparents or guests with limited mobility, tell the desk who needs a door-to-door drop-off as close to the entrance as the venue allows, and plan their car to leave a little before the crowd. A business SUV, with up to six seats and room for a folding wheelchair, is the usual choice.
Three Houston weddings, counted and costed
| Wedding | Vehicles | Hours | Fixed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 90 guests; ceremony and reception at one downtown hotel | First Class sedan for the couple | 3 | US$465 |
| 120 guests; church in River Oaks, reception in Uptown, 10 attendants | First Class sedan; Executive Sprinter for the wedding party | 4 each | US$620 + US$760 = US$1,380 |
| 150 guests; ceremony and reception at a venue outside the city, hotel block in the Galleria | First Class sedan; Sprinter for the party; two Sprinters for guest loops | 5 each | US$775 + US$950 + US$1,900 = US$3,625 |
Every figure uses the published hourly rates with taxes and standard gratuity included; tolls and parking are billed at cost. For a reception that runs late, the Evening out and event night package, US$775 in a First Class sedan and US$950 in an Executive Sprinter, is priced the same as five hours by the hour and is often the simpler way to cover the exit. Venues outside the city, from ranch properties west of Katy to the coast at Galveston, add drive time; the web booker prices those routes exactly.
Seen per guest, the third wedding's transport costs about US$24 a head for 150 guests, with the couple, the wedding party and two guest loops covered. Because City of Houston rules prohibit per capita charges for limousine services, every quote should be a price per vehicle; see our guide to Houston limo rental prices for the line items to check.
Building the day's timeline
A Houston wedding timeline lives or dies by the drive times between venues. Plan each leg with a buffer, especially across the Loop on a Saturday afternoon or when rain is forecast.
| Time | What happens | Vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours before the ceremony | Wedding party collected from the hotel or getting-ready house | Executive Sprinter |
| 75 minutes before | Photographs at the hotel or a park | Sprinter waits |
| 45 minutes before | Party arrives at the ceremony; family car arrives | Sprinter; business SUV |
| 20 minutes before | The bride arrives | First Class sedan or Rolls-Royce |
| After the ceremony | Couple to photographs, then the reception; party follows | Sedan; Sprinter |
| During the reception | First guest shuttle loop runs back to the hotel for early leavers | Guest Sprinter |
| End of the night | The couple's exit; final guest loop | Sedan; guest Sprinters |
A few Houston-specific habits help:
- Allow for the Loop and the freeways. Ten miles across Houston can be fifteen minutes or forty. Build at least a 20-minute buffer between the getting-ready location and the ceremony.
- Plan for weather. Houston rain arrives quickly, and the Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1, according to the National Hurricane Center. For a summer or early autumn wedding, give the desk an indoor drop-off point and a covered spot for photographs.
- Check the calendar. Rodeo season at NRG Park, March 2 to 21, 2027 according to RodeoHouston, and big conference weeks fill hotels and roads. If your date falls then, book transport early and expect heavier traffic south of the Loop.
- Mind the heat. For outdoor photographs from May to September, keep the Sprinter close by so the party can cool down between shots.
Out-of-town guests and the hotel block
Many Houston weddings bring guests through IAH and Hobby. Fixed airport prices make that part easy to budget: from Hobby to the Galleria from US$180 in a business sedan to US$470 in an Executive Sprinter, and from IAH from US$235 to US$615, with flight tracking and meet and greet inside arrivals. For a wave of guests arriving on the Friday, a Sprinter booked as an airport transfer for one landing time, or by the hour to collect several flights, keeps the welcome simple.
If the hotel block is in Uptown and the reception is downtown, Montrose or the Heights, guest shuttles are worth it: parking near some venues is limited, and a shuttle loop means nobody has to choose between the last dance and the drive home. Our group transportation page explains how loops are scheduled.
Galveston and destination weddings
Galveston is the classic Houston-area beach wedding, and the island's tourism site, Visit Galveston, lists venues and seasonal events. The island is about 50 miles (80 km) from downtown Houston, so a Galveston wedding with a Houston hotel block needs a transport plan for guests, not just the couple. Executive Sprinters for guest runs and a First Class sedan for the couple are the usual mix, priced in the web booker for the exact route. Couples marrying in the Hill Country can book the same way in Austin and San Antonio.
When to book
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| As soon as the venue and date are confirmed | Reserve the couple's car and the wedding-party vehicle; peak Saturdays go first |
| Three months before | Decide on guest shuttles once the hotel block and RSVPs are clearer |
| Four weeks before | Confirm the final timeline, addresses and headcounts per vehicle |
| One week before | Share the timeline with the planner and the wedding party; confirm the contact person for the day |
| 72 hours before | The free-cancellation window closes |
The cancellation policy is the same for every booking: free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, refunded to the original card. Book the core vehicles early and add guest shuttles later, rather than booking everything at the last minute.
What to put in writing
Wedding transport is one of the few parts of the day the couple never sees until it is happening, so the paperwork matters. The City of Houston's limousine rules require a written or electronic agreement given to the person hiring the vehicle, showing the date and time of hire, the time the vehicle is released, the rates that apply, a signature line for the chauffeur and the hirer's name. The same page states that per capita charges are prohibited and that a minimum fare may include obligatory gratuity, tolls, parking and fuel surcharges. Whoever you book, make sure the confirmation also shows:
- every pickup and drop-off address, in order, with the times;
- the vehicle class and seat count for each car;
- the name and mobile number of the day-of contact, usually the planner or a trusted attendant;
- whether gratuity is included, so nobody tips twice at the end of a long night;
- what happens if the reception runs late.
The City's vehicle for hire section also requires every vehicle-for-hire driver in Houston to hold a City-issued licence, a fair question to ask any provider. With Elly8.net, each confirmation arrives by email and the chauffeur's details follow before the day.
Limousine, Sprinter or classic car?
A stretch limousine is a statement vehicle, and for some couples that is the point. An Executive Sprinter seats more, has standing headroom and forward-facing seats, and is kinder to wedding dresses and suits. Many couples combine a classic car for themselves with Sprinters for everyone else. Our comparison of a black car vs a limousine and the limousine service page set out the differences. For the bachelor or bachelorette night before, see the Houston party bus guide.
Rides in Houston are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer, and seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley. The chauffeur follows local rules on alcohol; the vehicle is a ride, not part of the bar.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a wedding limo in Houston?
With Elly8.net, a First Class sedan for the couple is US$155 an hour and an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve is US$190 an hour, each with a 3-hour minimum, all-in with taxes and standard gratuity. Stretch limousines, Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach are priced in the web booker for your date and route.
How far in advance should a Houston wedding car be booked?
As soon as the venue and date are confirmed, especially for spring and autumn Saturdays. Book the couple's car and the wedding-party vehicle first, then add guest shuttles once the hotel block and numbers are clearer. Booking more than 72 hours ahead keeps changes free of charge.
Do we need guest shuttles?
Only if guests have to move between places they cannot easily drive to: a separate ceremony and reception, a distant hotel block, limited venue parking, or a reception where you would rather nobody drives. An Executive Sprinter carries twelve guests per loop at US$190 an hour.
Can the car wait during the ceremony and photographs?
Yes. Hourly bookings keep the same chauffeur and vehicle with you, waiting at the ceremony, the photo location and the reception. Give the desk the full timeline and addresses so the chauffeur knows each stop and where to wait.
What if the wedding runs late?
Tell the chauffeur or the desk as early as you can, and the desk will confirm whether the vehicle can stay on and how the extra time is charged. For a late reception, the Evening out and event night package can be simpler than adding hours.
Can you collect wedding guests from IAH and Hobby?
Yes. Airport pickups are flight-tracked with meet and greet inside arrivals. Hobby to the Galleria starts at US$180 and IAH at US$235 in a business sedan, and a Sprinter can collect a group landing together.
