Limo rental prices in Houston look simple until two quotes for the same night arrive and differ by hundreds of dollars. Usually the cars are similar. The difference is in what each quote includes: the gratuity, the minimum number of hours, fuel and admin charges, tolls on the way to the venue, and the rules for waiting and cancellation.
This guide from the Elly8.net reservations desk sets out the published Houston prices, from US$95 an hour for a business sedan to US$1,710 for a full roadshow day in an Executive Sprinter, explains each factor that moves a total, and quotes what the City of Houston's own limousine rules say about fares and written agreements. It ends with a checklist that works for any provider, not only ours.
How much does it cost to rent a limo in Houston?
With Elly8.net, chauffeured service by the hour in Houston costs US$95 in a business sedan, US$120 in a business SUV, US$145 in a First Class SUV, US$155 in a First Class sedan and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Prices are all-in, including taxes and standard gratuity. Stretch limousines and party buses are quoted in the web booker.
That makes a three-hour minimum booking US$285 in a business sedan and US$570 in an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve passengers. Packages and airport runs are priced separately, and they are often better value than the same time booked by the hour.

Each price is per vehicle, not per person, and includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and a standard gratuity; airport prices include meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. The same panel, with Reserve now buttons, is on the Houston city page, and every city's packages are listed on all prices and packages.
The capacity of each class matters as much as the price. A business sedan or First Class sedan seats up to three with two bags; a business SUV or First Class SUV up to six with six bags; an Executive Sprinter up to twelve with twelve bags. The fleet page also lists the classes priced in the web booker: a stretch limousine for up to eight, a stretch SUV limousine for up to sixteen, a party bus for up to twelve, a Jet Sprinter, a Mercedes-Maybach and a Rolls-Royce.
What drives a Houston limo price up or down
The vehicle class. The step from a business sedan to an Executive Sprinter doubles the hourly rate, but it also quadruples the seats. Per person, the Sprinter is usually the cheapest way to move a group of eight to twelve.
The hours and the minimum. Most hourly bookings in the industry carry a minimum; ours is three hours. If your plan is a 40-minute ride to dinner and back four hours later, compare an hourly booking with two one-way transfers priced in the web booker.
The date. Houston's calendar has clear peaks. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs March 2 to 21, 2027 according to RodeoHouston, spring brings prom and graduation weekends, and Saturdays in spring and autumn are wedding days. Our prices do not change with the date, but availability does, so book early for peak weekends.
Distance outside the city. Ranch weddings west of the city, The Woodlands, Galveston and Kemah add miles and time. Those addresses are priced in the web booker for the exact route.
Tolls, parking and waiting. Houston's toll roads are fast, and venue and hotel parking is real money at some addresses. These are billed at cost on every Elly8.net booking, so they are the one part of the total that depends on the night.
Packages vs hourly: which costs less
A package is a fixed block that suits a particular kind of day. A few comparisons with the hourly rate make the logic clear:
- The Evening out and event night package, US$475 in a business sedan, costs the same as five hours at US$95. If your night runs four hours or less, hourly is cheaper; if it runs longer, the package protects you.
- The Private city highlights tour, US$380 in a business sedan, costs the same as four hours by the hour and is planned around the sights; see private city tours.
- The Full-day chauffeur, US$700 in a business sedan, costs less than eight hours at the hourly rate, which would be US$760.
- The Space Center Houston and Galveston day trip is an 8-hour package at the same price as the Full-day chauffeur.
For a wedding, the right answer is often a mix: an hourly Sprinter for the bridal party and a one-way First Class sedan for the couple's exit. Our Houston wedding limo guide works through the timeline.
What City of Houston rules say about limousine fares
Houston regulates chauffeured limousine services through the City's Administration and Regulatory Affairs department, and its limousine rates page contains three points every renter should know.
What a minimum fare may include. The City states that the minimum fare may include obligatory gratuity, tolls, parking fees and fuel surcharges. In other words, these are legitimate parts of a fare, but they should be stated, not discovered afterwards.
Per-person pricing is not allowed. The page states that per capita charges are specifically prohibited for limousine services. A limousine is priced per vehicle, however many people ride in it. If a quote multiplies a rate by the number of guests, ask why.
The written agreement. The City requires a written or electronic agreement to be given to the hirer, showing the date and time of hiring, the date and time the vehicle is released, the rates that apply, a signature line for the chauffeur and the name of the person hiring. For pickups at a city airport, it must also show passengers' names, the airline, the flight number, the terminal and the scheduled arrival time.
The City also publishes an approved vehicle list for limousines, updated in November 2025, and its vehicle for hire section requires each vehicle-for-hire driver to hold a City-issued licence. Rides in Houston are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
Base-rate quotes vs all-in quotes
Many limousine quotes in North America start with a base hourly rate and then add separate lines: a gratuity percentage, a fuel surcharge, an administrative or service fee, and sometimes a charge for the time the car spends driving to and from its garage. None of those is improper if it is disclosed, and the City's rules allow several of them as part of a minimum fare. The difficulty is comparison: a low base rate can produce a higher total.
| Line item | What to ask | Elly8.net |
|---|---|---|
| Base rate | Per hour or per trip, and the minimum? | Fixed per vehicle; 3-hour minimum on hourly |
| Gratuity | Included or added, and at what percentage? | Standard gratuity included |
| Fuel or admin fees | Are any added on top? | None added; the published price is all-in |
| Taxes | Included? | Included |
| Tolls and parking | Billed how? | At cost |
| Waiting and overtime | At what rate, and from when? | Beyond the included time, at cost |
| Cancellation | What are the deadlines? | Free over 72 hours; 10%, 50%, 100% after |
The fair test is to ask every provider for the total you will pay for your exact route and hours, gratuity included, and to compare those totals. Our general guide to how much a limo or black car costs does the same exercise across cities.
Four Houston budgets, worked through
Dinner for two in River Oaks, about three hours. A First Class sedan by the hour: three hours at US$155, US$465 all-in, plus any valet parking at cost.
A birthday group of ten, downtown and Montrose, about five hours. An Executive Sprinter on the Evening out and event night package: US$950, or US$95 a person. Booked by the hour it would also be US$950 for five hours, so the package is the safer choice in case the night runs long. For larger celebrations, see our Houston party bus guide.
A family of five landing at IAH. A business SUV to the Galleria: US$310, fixed, with child seats on request and meet and greet included.
A visiting executive with four meetings. A Full-day chauffeur in a business sedan at US$700, or the Corporate roadshow day at US$855 when the schedule is tight and needs active routing.
Airport runs: the one price that needs no hours
Airport pickups are where hourly thinking causes the most confusion. A flight can land early, late or after a long Customs queue at IAH, and an hourly booking would charge for that time. A fixed airport transfer does not: the chauffeur tracks the flight, adjusts to the actual landing, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is built into the price. From Hobby to the Galleria the range runs from US$180 to US$470 and from IAH from US$235 to US$615, depending on the vehicle. If you need the car to stay with you after the airport, the round trip or a Full-day chauffeur is usually better value than adding hours. The airport's own limousine and sedan page lists where pre-arranged drivers meet passengers in each IAH terminal.
When a limo is not the right purchase
Sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need one. A solo traveller crossing Uptown at lunchtime will spend less on a taxi or an app ride. A couple who only need a ride to a restaurant and home can book two one-way transfers instead of three hours. And a stretch limousine is a statement vehicle: for a group that simply needs to move comfortably with bags, an Executive Sprinter or business SUV is usually the better buy. Our black car vs limousine comparison explains the difference.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a limo for three hours in Houston?
With Elly8.net, three hours costs US$285 in a business sedan, US$360 in a business SUV, US$435 in a First Class SUV, US$465 in a First Class sedan and US$570 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in with taxes and standard gratuity. Stretch limousines are priced in the web booker for your date and route.
Is gratuity included in Houston limo prices?
In Elly8.net prices, yes: a standard gratuity is included in every published price. Other providers may add gratuity as a separate percentage, which City of Houston rules allow as part of a minimum fare. Always ask, so you do not tip twice.
Can a Houston limo company charge per person?
City of Houston rules for limousine services state that per capita charges are specifically prohibited. Limousines are priced per vehicle. Elly8.net prices every booking per vehicle, whether one person rides or twelve.
What is not included in the price?
Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time, which are billed at cost. Everything else, including the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet, is in the published price.
Is a package or hourly booking cheaper?
It depends on how long the night runs. The Evening out and event night package costs the same as five hours at the hourly rate, so it is cheaper for longer nights and more expensive for short ones. The Full-day chauffeur costs less than eight hours booked by the hour.
How far ahead should you book a limo in Houston?
As soon as your date is fixed for rodeo nights, prom and graduation weekends, and spring and autumn Saturdays, when the best vehicles go first. For ordinary weeknights, a few days is usually enough. Booking more than 72 hours ahead also keeps the cancellation free.
