A Miami prom limo is usually booked by one parent on behalf of a group of six to twelve students, and that parent carries the responsibility for the details: the operator, the vehicle, the times, the payment and the rules for the night. With Elly8.net, the most popular prom vehicle with fixed Miami prices is the 12-seat Executive Sprinter, US$1,000 for a 5-hour evening out or US$200 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, while stretch limousines and stretch SUV limousines are quoted in the web booker for the prom date.
This checklist is written for parents. It covers what to ask before paying, what Florida law says about seat belts and alcohol for under-age passengers, how to time the evening around photos, the dance and the pickup, and how to split the cost without surprises. Prom season in South Florida runs through the spring, and group vehicles for the busiest Friday and Saturday nights go first.
What should parents check before booking a prom limo?
Check that the operator is licensed and commercially insured, that every passenger has a seat with a belt, that the price is all-in and in writing, that the pickup, venue and drop-off times are fixed, that a parent is the booking contact, and that the cancellation terms are clear before anyone pays.
Each item is explained below. If an operator will not confirm one of them in writing, choose another.
1. Who operates the vehicle
Ask who actually drives and insures the car, not just who takes the booking. With Elly8.net, rides in Miami are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. The desk number is in the confirmation email and answers at any hour, including at midnight when the dance ends.
2. Seats, belts and the right vehicle
Count the students, then count the seats with belts. Florida's Safety Belt Law makes it unlawful to operate a motor vehicle unless each passenger under 18 is restrained by a safety belt or a child restraint, while the law's definition of a motor vehicle excludes buses used to carry people for compensation. In plain terms, the vehicle you choose affects which rules apply, so ask for a seat with a belt for every student whatever the vehicle.
These are the prom vehicles on our fleet page:
| Vehicle | Passengers | Good for | Price in Miami |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stretch limousine | up to 8 | Four couples, the classic prom arrival | Web booker quote |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | Larger groups, comfortable individual seats | US$1,000 for a 5-hour evening |
| Stretch SUV limousine | up to 16 | The biggest single group | Web booker quote |
| First Class SUV | up to 6 | Three couples, a quieter black car night | US$750 for a 5-hour evening |
| Business SUV | up to 6 | Budget-friendly small groups | US$625 for a 5-hour evening |
Do not squeeze. A dress takes more room than a passenger, and a vehicle filled to the last seat is uncomfortable for five hours. For a group of nine, the Sprinter is the better choice than a stretch limousine rated for eight.
3. Alcohol and the rules in the vehicle
This is the conversation to have with the students before the night, and with the operator before you pay. Florida law makes it unlawful for anyone under 21 to possess alcoholic beverages, under section 562.111 of the Florida Statutes. Chauffeurs follow local rules on what can be carried in the vehicle. Under our terms, the chauffeur will not carry a passenger who appears to be under the legal drinking age with alcohol in the vehicle, and may end a ride without refund if a passenger is breaking the law or behaving unsafely.
Practical steps that help:
- Tell the group the rules in advance, in the group chat, so nobody is surprised at the curb.
- Ask the desk what the chauffeur will do if a rule is broken, so parents know the answer before the night.
- Agree that bags stay with the students or in the trunk, not passed around the cabin.
4. Fixed times and fixed addresses
The safest prom booking is the one with no improvising. Put the whole evening into the reservation:
- Pickup: one address for the whole group if possible, usually the home where photos are taken. Each extra pickup adds time.
- Photos: if the group wants photos at a park or a landmark, add the stop and the time. Some venues have their own photography rules; Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, for example, publishes separate guidance for photography and filming, so check before planning a shoot there.
- The venue: the hotel or hall name and the entrance used for drop-off.
- The pickup after the dance: an agreed time and an agreed meeting point outside the venue.
- Drop-off: home, or a named after-prom event, then home.
Make one parent the booking contact. Give the desk that parent's mobile number, and ask that any change to the plan on the night is confirmed with that parent. Students then know that the itinerary is the itinerary.
5. The price, in writing, all-in
Elly8.net prices are per vehicle and all-in: the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity are included. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the booked time are billed at cost. That means the only way the total changes is if the evening runs past the booked hours or the route adds a toll or a paid garage.
Prom nights usually fit the 5-hour evening out and event night package. If the dance runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and you want photos first, book the hours to cover the whole span: for example, a 4:30 p.m. pickup for photos and dinner through to an 11:30 p.m. drop-off is seven hours, which in an Executive Sprinter is US$1,400 at the hourly rate. Our guide to Miami limo rental prices explains minimums and packages in more detail.
When comparing another operator's quote, ask whether gratuity, fuel charges and card fees are included, and whether the hours start at your pickup or when the vehicle leaves the garage.
6. Who pays, and how to split it
One parent paying by card and collecting shares from the other families is the simplest arrangement. The per-person maths for the Sprinter evening at US$1,000:
- Twelve students: about US$84 each.
- Ten students: US$100 each.
- Eight students: US$125 each.
Agree with the other families what happens if one student drops out, because the vehicle price stays the same. Collect the shares before you book, not after the night.
7. The cancellation terms
Plans change around prom: a couple splits up, a group merges with another, a dance date moves. Know the deadlines before you pay. With Elly8.net, cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; at 72 hours or less the charge is 10 percent, at 48 hours or less 50 percent, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100 percent, refunded to the original card. The full terms are on the cancellation policy page.
If the plan changes on the night
Even well-planned evenings change. A dance runs late, one student feels unwell, or the group wants to stop somewhere that is not on the itinerary. Agree with the students in advance how those moments work:
- A late finish. If the venue runs past the agreed pickup, the chauffeur waits and the extra time is billed at the hourly rate. The booking parent should know the rate before the night: US$200 an hour in an Executive Sprinter, US$150 in a First Class SUV.
- One student needs to go home early. The vehicle stays with the group; arrange a separate ride with the desk or a parent pickup, rather than taking the whole group away from the venue.
- A new stop. Treat it as a change to the itinerary, confirmed with the booking parent before the chauffeur drives anywhere new.
- Lost phone or keys. Tell the desk the same night so the vehicle can be checked before its next booking.
A short message to all the parents the day before, with the times, the vehicle, the desk number and these rules, answers most questions before they are asked.
A sample prom night timeline
A realistic plan for a group of ten with a Sprinter:
- 4:30 p.m. Pickup at the host family's home after photos in the garden.
- 5:15 p.m. A short photo stop at a waterfront park, agreed in advance.
- 6:00 p.m. Dinner at a restaurant near the venue, chauffeur waiting nearby.
- 7:15 p.m. Drop-off at the prom venue entrance.
- 11:00 p.m. Pickup at the agreed exit, with the chauffeur in touch with the booking parent.
- 11:30 p.m. Drop-off at the host home, where parents collect their children.
That evening is seven hours. If you only need the ride to the dance and home, book two short transfers through the web booker instead of keeping the vehicle all night, which can cost less.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a prom limo cost in Miami?
An Executive Sprinter for up to 12 students is US$1,000 for a 5-hour evening or US$200 an hour with a 3-hour minimum. A First Class SUV for up to six is US$750 for the evening. Stretch limousines are quoted in the web booker. Prices are all-in per vehicle, including standard gratuity.
How early should we book a prom limo?
Book as soon as the prom date and the group are settled, ideally two to three months ahead, because Friday and Saturday nights in spring fill quickly. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so an early booking can be adjusted if the group changes.
Can a parent be the contact instead of a student?
Yes, and we recommend it. Add the parent's mobile number as the booking contact and ask that any change to the itinerary on the night is confirmed with that parent. The 24/7 desk number is in the confirmation email if a parent needs to check on the group.
Are seat belts required in a prom limo in Florida?
Florida's Safety Belt Law requires passengers under 18 in a motor vehicle to be restrained by a safety belt, and its definition excludes buses used to carry people for compensation. The simplest approach is to choose a vehicle with a belted seat for every student, whatever the vehicle type.
What happens if students bring alcohol?
Florida law prohibits possession of alcohol by anyone under 21. Under our terms, the chauffeur will not carry an apparently under-age passenger with alcohol in the vehicle and may end the ride without refund if the law is broken. Talk to the group before the night so everyone knows the rules.
Can the limo take students to an after-prom event?
Yes, if it is part of the booked itinerary. Add the after-prom address and time when you book so the hours cover it. Any change on the night should be agreed with the booking parent, and extra time beyond the booked hours is billed at the hourly rate.
