A Charleston airport transfer is a car booked before you fly that tracks your flight into Charleston International (CHS), meets you inside baggage claim with a name board and drives you about 11 mi (18 km) to the Historic Peninsula, or wherever you are staying, at a fixed price. On Elly8.net, CHS to the Historic Peninsula costs US$140 in a Business Sedan up to US$365 in an Executive Sprinter, one way, per vehicle, all-in.

The airport is compact and the highway run is short, about 18 minutes on a clear road. What takes local planning is everything around it: I-26 at the commuter peaks, the narrow streets of the peninsula, the bridges to Mount Pleasant and the long roads out to the sea islands. This guide walks through the transfer from booking to drop-off, then the return to the airport. Rides in Charleston are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.

What happens on a Charleston airport transfer?

You send the desk your flight number, passengers, bags and address. The chauffeur tracks the flight, waits inside baggage claim at CHS with a name board, helps with luggage and drives you directly to your door. CHS to the Historic Peninsula costs US$140 to US$365 per vehicle, fixed and all-in, the same in either direction.

All-in means the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. A round trip booked together costs from US$270 in a Business Sedan. Every price is on the Charleston price list.

Before you fly: what the desk needs

  • Flight number. Many CHS arrivals connect through a hub. If your connection changes, send the new number so the chauffeur follows the right aircraft.
  • Passengers and every bag. Golf travel bags, cruise luggage, strollers, wedding attire in garment bags. The bag count decides the vehicle.
  • The exact address. "Charleston" may mean an inn south of Broad, a hotel on King Street, a house in Mount Pleasant or a villa on Kiawah Island. Each is a different drive.
  • Gate details. Island communities and some neighbourhoods have gates. Put the resort name, rental code or guest pass instructions in the notes.
  • Child seats. Available on request; give the age and weight of each child so the right seat is fitted before pickup.
  • Your plans after landing. If you are going straight to a cruise, a rehearsal dinner or a tee time, say so. The desk plans the timing and the vehicle around it.

Booking takes three steps: pickup at CHS with the flight number and the drop-off, the vehicle, then Reserve now on the fixed price or the web booker for any address not on the list. Confirmation arrives by email, followed by the chauffeur's details.

Step by step: from the gate to the curb

  1. The chauffeur checks the flight before leaving. Early or late, the pickup moves with the aircraft. You do not need to call.
  2. You land and walk to baggage claim. At CHS, all ground transportation is outside baggage claim at the west end of the terminal, according to Charleston International Airport, so the walk from the carousel to the car is short.
  3. Your chauffeur waits inside baggage claim holding a name board. If you would rather the board show a company name or initials, say so in the notes.
  4. Bags off the carousel. The chauffeur helps with them and walks you out to the vehicle, past the taxi booth and the signs to the rideshare zones.
  5. The drive. About 18 minutes to the peninsula on a clear road. At the morning and evening commuter peaks, I-26 slows, and the desk allows for it.
  6. The last blocks. Peninsula streets are narrow and often one-way. The chauffeur stops at your door where it is legal and at the nearest corner where it is not, then helps carry bags in.

If you cannot see your chauffeur, stay inside baggage claim and call the 24/7 desk number in your confirmation email.

Waiting: what complimentary waiting means

The waiting clock starts when your flight actually lands, not at the scheduled time. That covers the walk from the gate and the wait at the carousel, including for golf clubs and oversized bags. Waiting beyond the included time, for example if you stop to eat before leaving the terminal, is billed at cost.

This matters most on the nights Charleston is busiest. A Friday arrival on a wedding weekend, or the first night of the Charleston Wine + Food festival, which runs March 3 to 7, 2027, brings many passengers to the same curb at once. A car already waiting for your tracked flight takes that out of the evening. Our meet and greet and airport transfers pages explain the standard.

Which vehicle fits your luggage

Capacities are from our fleet page, with the fixed CHS to Historic Peninsula fare.

First Class Sedanup to 32US$245The couple on their wedding weekend

  • Golf bags need an SUV. A sedan holds two bags in total.
  • Cruise luggage is bigger than it looks. A week at sea for a family of four is an SUV, or a Sprinter for two families.
  • Seven or more people go in one Sprinter rather than a convoy of cars arriving at different times.

Where the drop-off happens

The Historic Peninsula

South of Broad and the Battery, King Street, the French Quarter and the streets around City Market hold most of the inns and hotels. Many have porte-cocheres or small driveways that make unloading easy; others are on streets where the chauffeur stops at the corner. Once you are settled, the free CARTA DASH shuttle covers the peninsula on three routes, serving King Street, the Visitors Center, the Market, Waterfront Park and the South Carolina Aquarium.

Mount Pleasant and the beach towns

Mount Pleasant is across the Ravenel Bridge from the peninsula, with Shem Creek, resorts and wedding venues. Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms are beyond it. All are priced instantly in the booker.

Daniel Island and North Charleston

Office parks, hotels and much of the region's business travel. Daniel Island also hosts the Credit One Charleston Open, which runs March 27 to April 4, 2027, a week when cars to the island book early.

Kiawah Island and the sea islands

Kiawah is south of the city past the sea islands, and much of it lies behind resort and community gates; the Town of Kiawah Island has visitor information. A transfer from CHS is priced in the booker. If you are staying in Charleston and going out for a round or a beach day, the 5-hour Kiawah Island package costs from US$440 in a Business Sedan to US$875 in an Executive Sprinter, with the chauffeur waiting.

The cruise terminal

Cruise passengers sail from the Port of Charleston, run by South Carolina Ports. Give the desk the ship, the boarding time and the bag count, and the car goes from CHS or your hotel straight to the terminal. On return, the chauffeur meets you after disembarkation. See cruise port transfers, and check boarding times with your cruise line.

The alternatives at CHS, briefly

The airport lists several other ways into town. Taxis are dispatched from a booth in the center median outside baggage claim, where a starter quotes a rate by destination, with a US$17 minimum. Ride apps pick up at Zones 1, 2 and 3 in a covered shelter across both roadways. CARTA buses run to Tanger Outlet Center and downtown from a covered stop just outside baggage claim, and many airport-area hotels run courtesy shuttles.

For one or two people with light bags going to a peninsula hotel, a taxi is often cheaper than a pre-booked car, and we say so. Our Charleston taxi or rideshare guide sets out the airport's published sample taxi fares, the shared downtown shuttle and the rideshare zones side by side, and explains when a fixed car is the better choice.

Going back to CHS: the departure run

The same fixed fare applies to the airport: the Historic Peninsula to CHS is US$140 in a Business Sedan up to US$365 in an Executive Sprinter. A round trip booked with your arrival costs US$270 in a Business Sedan, US$355 in a Business SUV, US$430 in a First Class SUV, US$470 in a First Class Sedan and US$695 in an Executive Sprinter, which is less than two one-way fares.

For departures, the desk works backwards from the flight time. The highway drive is short, but allow for the commuter peaks on I-26 and for the bridges if you are leaving from Mount Pleasant or the islands. The chauffeur collects you at the door and drops you at departures with your bags.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an airport transfer from CHS to downtown Charleston?

US$140 in a Business Sedan, US$185 in a Business SUV, US$225 in a First Class SUV, US$245 in a First Class Sedan and US$365 in an Executive Sprinter, one way, per vehicle, to the Historic Peninsula. The price is fixed and all-in, including chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet, with tolls, parking and extra waiting billed at cost.

Where does the chauffeur meet passengers at CHS?

Inside baggage claim, holding a name board. All ground transportation at CHS is outside baggage claim at the west end of the terminal, so the walk to the vehicle is short. The chauffeur helps with luggage, and every pickup is flight-tracked.

What if the flight is delayed?

The chauffeur follows the flight and adjusts to the real landing time, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers the walk to baggage claim and the wait for bags. The fixed price stays the same. If the airline moves you to another flight, send the desk the new number.

Can the transfer go straight to the cruise terminal?

Yes. Book CHS to the cruise terminal and give the desk the ship, the boarding time and the number of bags, so the vehicle is the right size. For the return, the chauffeur meets you after disembarkation. Check sailing and boarding times with your cruise line before you book.

Is the return trip to CHS the same price?

Yes. Every one-way airport fare on the Charleston price list is the same fixed price in either direction, so the Historic Peninsula to CHS is also US$140 to US$365. A round trip booked together costs less than two one-way fares, from US$270 in a Business Sedan.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup is free. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go to the original card. For weddings and group trips, ask the desk to move the booking rather than cancel if plans change.
