A Sprinter van with a chauffeur is the workhorse of group travel in Calgary: twelve forward-facing seats, room for twelve bags, a high roof and a sliding door that loads a group in a minute. On Elly8.net, an Executive Sprinter from YYC to downtown Calgary is a fixed US$275, US$525 for the round trip, US$220 an hour with a three-hour minimum, and US$2,025 for the ten-hour Banff and Lake Louise day, all-in per vehicle.
The Sprinter is not always the right answer. Six people with light bags fit a business SUV for less, and for a short hop an app XL is cheaper still. This guide sets out what to book for each kind of Calgary trip, what each option really costs, and the questions that decide it.
How much does a Sprinter van with driver cost in Calgary?
On Elly8.net, a 12-seat Executive Sprinter in Calgary is US$220 an hour with a three-hour minimum, US$275 from YYC to downtown, US$525 round trip, US$1,100 for a five-hour evening, US$1,620 for an eight-hour day and US$2,025 for the ten-hour Banff and Lake Louise trip, fixed and all-in per vehicle.
Prices include the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes and standard gratuity, plus airport meet and greet on YYC runs. Parking, park passes and time beyond the booked block are billed at cost. Prices are per vehicle, never per person; per-person figures below are arithmetic for comparison only.

What you are actually booking
Executive Sprinter. A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter fitted as an executive shuttle: up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. It is on the fixed price list, so the price is shown before you book. This is the vehicle most groups mean when they search for a Sprinter van rental.
Jet Sprinter. A VIP version with captain's chairs for up to six passengers and four bags, for executives and small VIP groups who want to work or talk on the move. It is priced in the web booker.
Business SUV or van. A Suburban, Yukon XL or V-Class or similar, seating six with six bags, at US$140 from YYC to downtown or US$140 an hour.
All three come with a licensed chauffeur. Elly8.net does not rent self-drive vans. Rides in Calgary are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. Seats and bag space for every class are on the fleet page, and the Sprinter van with driver page explains the vehicle in more detail.
One Sprinter or two SUVs?
For seven to twelve people, the choice is usually between one Executive Sprinter and two business SUVs.
| Trip | One Executive Sprinter | Two business SUVs |
|---|---|---|
| YYC to downtown | US$275 | US$280 |
| Three hours by the hour | US$660 | US$840 |
| Five-hour evening | US$1,100 | US$1,400 |
| Ten-hour Banff and Lake Louise day | US$2,025 | US$2,580 |
One Sprinter costs less than two SUVs on every trip on the list, keeps the group together and needs one parking space, not two. Two SUVs are better when the group splits during the day, for example half to the golf course and half to the hotel, or when two pickups happen at the same time in different parts of the city.
Sprinter vs app XL vs self-drive
App XL. Uber's YYC page showed an average of about CA$68 for UberXL, which seats up to six, from Calgary to the airport over the month before we checked, and says these averages are not fixed or guaranteed. For two groups of six with light bags at an ordinary hour, two XLs are cheaper than a Sprinter. The trade-offs are two separate matches, live pricing that rises at busy times, and no guarantee of space for skis or golf bags. Ride-app pickups at YYC are at arrivals doors 3, 12 and 15, according to the airport's ride app page.
Self-drive van. Renting a 12-seat van yourself can look cheaper per day. Someone has to drive it, find parking at every stop, handle mountain roads in winter, and stay sober through a Stampede night. For a group that wants everyone to enjoy the day, a chauffeur changes the economics. Our chauffeur vs car rental page sets out the trade-offs.
Transit and taxis. Calgary Transit's Route 500 runs express between YYC and downtown for a C$4.00 adult fare, and taxis carry four or five people. For a group of twelve with bags, three taxis or a dozen bus fares are workable but slow, and nobody arrives together.
Calgary trips where the Sprinter earns its place
Ski and snowboard groups. Twelve people with skis or boards need the Sprinter's cargo space. YYC to Banff town is US$965 in the Sprinter, the same price in either direction. For Canmore, the web booker quotes your address; our Calgary Airport to Canmore guide walks through the arrival.
The Banff and Lake Louise day. The ten-hour day at US$2,025 for up to twelve keeps the group on one plan. Everyone stopping in Banff National Park needs a pass, bought separately. Parks Canada's Banff fees page lists a daily adult pass at C$12.25, a family or group pass at C$24.50, and a separate commercial group rate per person, so check which applies to your party before buying. Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles; Moraine Lake is reached by Parks Canada shuttle from the Lake Louise Park and Ride.
Stampede week. The Calgary Stampede runs from July 9 to 18, 2027. A Sprinter on the five-hour evening package moves a client group between the grounds and the party circuit, from US$1,100 a night. Book early; large vehicles are the first to go.
Trade shows and conventions. Exhibitor teams shuttle between downtown hotels and the BMO Centre at Stampede Park every morning and evening. An hourly Sprinter, or a corporate roadshow day at US$1,980 for ten hours, keeps the schedule tight. See conference transportation, and open a corporate account for monthly invoicing.
Grey Cup week. Calgary hosts the 113th Grey Cup, with the Grey Cup Festival running from November 11 to 15, 2026. Groups going to the festival and the game can share one vehicle and one pickup point.
Weddings. A Sprinter is the standard wedding-party vehicle, with forward seats and a high roof for dresses, and the usual guest shuttle between hotels and foothills or ranch venues. See wedding limousine, and our Calgary limo rental guide for stretch and luxury options for the couple.
Teams and golf groups. Twelve players with bags, or three foursomes with clubs, fit one Sprinter. The group transportation page covers multi-vehicle plans.
A costed example: a client group in Stampede week
A Calgary company hosts ten clients flying in for two nights of the Stampede. The plan uses one Executive Sprinter throughout, booked as separate jobs so each is priced on its own.
| Day | Job | Booking | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arrival day | YYC to the downtown hotel, flights tracked | one-way airport fare | US$275 |
| Night one | grounds, grandstand show and two parties | evening out and event night, 5 hours | US$1,100 |
| Night two | dinner, then the party circuit | evening out and event night, 5 hours | US$1,100 |
| Departure day | hotel to YYC | one-way airport fare | US$275 |
Total: US$2,750 for the vehicle across four bookings, all-in, with parking at cost. Shared by ten guests, that is US$275 each for the two days, as arithmetic for comparison only. If the clients arrive on different flights, add a business SUV for the second cluster of arrivals at US$140 rather than holding the Sprinter at the airport. If the second night runs late, extra time is billed at cost; adding an hour at booking is simpler than extending on the night. During Stampede week the chauffeur drops at the nearest practical point to the gate you need and meets the group at an agreed spot, because streets around Stampede Park close for events.
How to choose, in five questions
- How many people, and how many bags? Up to six with light bags: a business SUV. Seven to twelve, or any group with skis or golf clubs: an Executive Sprinter. Six VIPs who want to work: a Jet Sprinter.
- Does the group stay together all day? If yes, one Sprinter. If it splits, two SUVs.
- Is it point to point or by the hour? Airport runs are fixed fares. Anything with stops is hourly or a package.
- How long is the day? Over five hours, compare the full-day or roadshow package with the hourly total; the packages are priced about 8% and 10% below.
- Are there passes or parking? Park passes, Kananaskis passes and parking are billed at cost or bought by the group. Tell the desk the stops so nothing surprises you.
On the day: loading and timing
A Sprinter loads quickly, but twelve people still need a plan. Give the chauffeur a lead contact in the group, one person who answers the phone and counts heads, rather than twelve separate numbers. At the airport, gather the group inside arrivals before walking to the vehicle, so the bags go in once in the right order: skis and golf bags first, suitcases next, day bags last. For a mountain day, leave Calgary early; the Banff and Lake Louise package runs ten hours, and the first hour of light at the lakes is worth more than an extra hour of sleep. In winter, allow for snow on the Trans-Canada and keep boots and jackets in the cabin, not under the luggage.

Frequently asked questions
How many people fit in a Sprinter van in Calgary?
The Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 passengers with room for 12 bags. The Jet Sprinter seats up to six in captain's chairs with four bags. For more than twelve, book two vehicles travelling together, or a Sprinter and a business SUV.
How much is a Sprinter from Calgary airport to downtown?
A fixed US$275 per vehicle, all-in, or US$525 for the round trip booked together, the same price in either direction. Shared by twelve passengers that is about US$23 each, as arithmetic for comparison only, with the chauffeur meeting the group inside arrivals.
Can we rent a Sprinter without a driver?
Not through Elly8.net. Every Sprinter comes with a licensed, commercially insured chauffeur. That means no one in the group drives, parks or handles winter mountain roads, and the price includes the chauffeur, taxes and standard gratuity.
Is a Sprinter cheaper than two SUVs?
On Calgary's price list, yes, for every trip type. YYC to downtown is US$275 in one Sprinter against US$280 for two business SUVs, and a ten-hour Banff and Lake Louise day is US$2,025 against US$2,580. Two SUVs make sense only if the group splits.
Can a Sprinter take us to Banff and Lake Louise?
Yes. The ten-hour Banff and Lake Louise day is US$2,025 in an Executive Sprinter. Park passes are bought separately, and Moraine Lake is reached by Parks Canada shuttle because Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles. One-way YYC to Banff is US$965.
How far ahead should we book for the Stampede?
As early as possible. The 2027 Stampede runs from July 9 to 18, and Sprinters are the first vehicles to go. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, so an early booking carries little risk if plans change.
