From John Wayne Airport (SNA) to the Disneyland Resort hotels in Anaheim, the main choices are a shared-ride shuttle booked at least 24 hours ahead, a taxi from the Ground Transportation Center, an app ride from the parking-structure pickup areas, or a pre-booked private car. A shared shuttle is usually the lowest price per seat for one or two people. A private car through Elly8.net is priced per vehicle, with the chauffeur waiting inside arrivals and child seats fitted before you land.
SNA is the easy airport for a theme park trip, compact and close to Anaheim, and that changes the maths compared with LAX. On a short ride the private car's fixed price is modest, and for a family of four or five with car seats it is often the simplest answer. This comparison uses the airport's own rules on where each option picks up, so you know what the first half hour after landing really looks like.
What is the best way to get from SNA to Disneyland?
For one or two adults with light bags, a shared shuttle booked 24 hours ahead is usually the cheapest seat. For a family with children, car seats and strollers, a pre-booked private car is simpler: one vehicle, a chauffeur inside arrivals and a fixed per-vehicle price. In Orange County, SNA transfers start from US$125 in a Business Sedan.

The options at John Wayne Airport, as the airport describes them
John Wayne Airport has three terminals, A, B and C, with arrivals on the lower level. Each ground transport option starts in a different place, and that matters when you are pushing a luggage cart and holding a child's hand.
Shared-ride shuttles
The airport lists five shuttle operators and states that all shuttles require at least a 24-hour advance reservation. Pickup is at the Ground Transportation Center on the lower Arrivals level, between Terminals A and B. The airport does not publish shuttle fares, so you get the price from the operator when you book.
A shared shuttle typically waits for other passengers and makes more than one stop. Anaheim's resort area has many hotels close together, so your van may stop at several before yours. That is fine with time to spare; it is less fine with tired children at the end of a long flight.
Taxis
According to the airport's taxi page, taxis wait at the Ground Transportation Center on the Arrival level between Terminals A and B, and in Terminal C near Column 14. The airport does not post a flat fare to Anaheim; it points travellers to the taxi operator's trip estimator instead. Taxis are metered, so the final fare depends on the route and traffic, and a taxi will not have a child seat fitted unless you bring and install your own.
App rides
App-based rides at SNA do not pick up at the terminal curb. The airport says drivers must pick up passengers on the top levels of parking structures A2 and B2, and in the Terminal C parking structure on the upper level next to ticketing. That means a walk, often an elevator, with bags, to a pickup area shared with everyone else who landed at the same time. Prices are not published and rise with demand.
Buses and trains
For transit, the airport lists OCTA Route 76, which runs between John Wayne Airport and Huntington Beach from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and stops at Terminal A, Pillar 2. The nearest train stations are in Irvine, Santa Ana and Tustin, each about 10 miles away. Reaching Anaheim by public transport from SNA therefore means connections, and with a family and luggage that is rarely practical.
A pre-booked private car
With Elly8.net, you send the flight number when you book. The chauffeur tracks the flight, waits inside arrivals with a name board, loads the luggage and drives you to your hotel door. Complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing, and child seats are available on request: tell us each child's age and weight and the right seats are fitted before pickup. There is no Ground Transportation Center queue and no walk to a parking structure.

| Shared shuttle | Ground Transportation Center, between A and B | Van fills, then other hotel stops | Ask the operator | Per person, from the operator; 24-hour advance booking |
| Taxi | Ground Transportation Center or Terminal C, Column 14 | Taxi queue | Bring your own | Metered |
| App ride | Top of structures A2 and B2, or Terminal C structure upper level | Walk to the structure, then the driver wait | Rarely guaranteed | Dynamic, changes with demand |
| Elly8.net Business SUV | Inside arrivals, name board | None: chauffeur already waiting | On request, fitted before pickup | Fixed per vehicle, all-in |
What a private car costs from SNA
Elly8.net publishes fixed fares from SNA to Newport Beach, a short drive from the airport: US$125 in a Business Sedan, US$165 in a Business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter. Anaheim hotels are further from the airport than Newport Beach, so the exact fare to your Disneyland Resort hotel is quoted in the web booker before you pay; it is fixed once you reserve and does not change with traffic.
The price is per vehicle and all-in: the chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, a standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. The full list is on the Orange County price panel.
Per seat vs per vehicle: where the lines cross
A shared shuttle charges each passenger. A private car charges once for the vehicle, whether one person rides or six. So:
- One or two adults, light bags, not in a hurry: a shared shuttle is likely the best value, as long as you book it 24 hours ahead.
- A family of three to six: a Business SUV seats up to 6 with 6 bags, priced once for everyone. Divide the fare by the number of travellers and compare it with the shuttle seat prices you are quoted; add the value of car seats fitted and no stops on the way.
- Two families or a group of up to 12: an Executive Sprinter carries everyone and their luggage together. Our Sprinter van guide explains how many fit with bags.
Wait time: what the first 30 minutes look like
On a shared shuttle, the clock runs while the van fills and while it stops at other hotels. In a taxi, it runs while you queue. With an app ride, it runs while you walk to the parking structure and wait for a driver who may be several minutes away.
With a pre-booked car, the chauffeur is in arrivals when you come out. On a short SNA run that difference is a large share of the whole journey, and it is the part of the trip where children are most tired.
Comfort with children, strollers and luggage
A theme park trip carries more gear than most holidays: strollers, car seats, swimwear for the hotel pool and a week of clothes. Three things make the private car easier for families:
- Child seats fitted before pickup, on request, so you do not carry and install your own.
- One vehicle for everyone, with luggage space sized to your booking. The fleet page lists 6 bags for an SUV and 12 for a Sprinter.
- Door to door: the chauffeur stops at your hotel entrance, not at a shared drop point.
If you are flying into LAX rather than SNA, the comparison changes: the distance to Anaheim is much longer and shuttle stops add more time. Our post on the LAX airport shuttle vs a private car covers that airport, and the Orange County fares from LAX to Newport Beach, from US$315, show the scale of the difference.
Late arrivals and early departures
Many family flights into SNA land in the evening, after a full day of travel. That is when the differences above matter most. A shared shuttle needs the 24-hour advance reservation and still waits for other passengers; the airport's only listed local bus, OCTA Route 76, runs 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and goes to Huntington Beach, not Anaheim; and app pickups at the parking structures are busiest when several flights land together.
A pre-booked chauffeur is not affected by the hour. The fixed price is the same at 11 p.m. as at noon, there is no surge or night pricing, and the chauffeur's start time follows the tracked landing rather than the schedule.
The return trip has its own logic. For an early-morning departure from SNA, a shared shuttle has to fit your hotel into its pickup run, so the pickup can be well before you would choose. A private car collects you at the time you set, with the luggage and car seats you arrived with, and drops you at the upper Departures curb, where the airport allows drop-offs.
The honest verdict
Choose a shared shuttle if you are one or two adults, you can book 24 hours ahead, and an extra stop or two does not matter.
Choose a taxi if you have not booked anything, you are travelling light, and you do not need child seats.
Choose an app ride for a solo trip at a quiet hour, if you are happy to walk to the parking structure pickup.
Choose a pre-booked private car if you are a family with children, car seats and strollers, if your flight lands late in the evening, if you want a fixed price agreed in advance, or if your group is large enough that one vehicle beats several seats. See chauffeur vs shared airport shuttle for the general comparison.
Planning the rest of the trip
Families staying a week in Anaheim often add a day out: the beaches of Newport and Laguna, or a trip into Los Angeles for Hollywood and the studios. A private driver for the day covers the second, and the Los Angeles car service page lists the fares from LAX, Burbank and Van Nuys. Visit Anaheim, the official visitor site, has the city's event calendar if you are planning around a convention week.
For the return, book the drop-off at SNA with the same booking or a second one, and the chauffeur collects you at the hotel at the time you choose. Our airport transfers page explains departures.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a shuttle from SNA to Disneyland?
John Wayne Airport lists five shared-ride shuttle operators. All require a reservation at least 24 hours in advance, and pickup is at the Ground Transportation Center on the lower Arrivals level, between Terminals A and B. The airport does not publish fares, so ask the operator for the price when you book.
How much is a private car from SNA to Disneyland?
Elly8.net quotes the exact fare to your Anaheim hotel in the web booker, fixed before you pay. For scale, the published SNA to Newport Beach fare starts at US$125 in a Business Sedan and US$165 in a Business SUV. Prices are per vehicle and include gratuity, taxes and meet and greet.
Where do app rides pick up at SNA?
On the top levels of parking structures A2 and B2, and in the Terminal C parking structure on the upper level next to ticketing, according to the airport. Drop-offs are allowed at the upper Departures curb. With a pre-booked chauffeur, you are met inside arrivals instead.
Can the car have child seats for the drive to Anaheim?
Yes. Child seats are available on request. Give the age and weight of each child when you book and the seats are fitted before pickup. A Business SUV seats up to 6 with 6 bags, which suits most families with strollers.
Is SNA or LAX better for a Disneyland trip?
SNA is closer to Anaheim and smaller, so the walk from the gate to the car is short. LAX makes sense when it gives you a nonstop or international flight. A private car from LAX to Orange County costs more because the drive is much longer; from LAX to Newport Beach the fare starts at US$315.
What happens if the flight to SNA is late?
Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, and complimentary waiting starts after a tracked landing. A delay does not change the fixed price within the included time. Waiting beyond the included time is billed at cost, and the desk tells you before that applies.
