A Portland party bus is a chauffeured group vehicle for a birthday, a bachelor or bachelorette night, a graduation or a game, with one pickup, one driver and nobody in the group driving home. On Elly8.net, party buses are priced in the web booker for your exact route, date and hours, and the closest fixed-price option is a 12-seat Executive Sprinter at US$190 an hour (three-hour minimum) or US$950 for an evening out, per vehicle and all-in.
Most bad party bus nights do not go wrong on the road. They go wrong in the booking: a "20-passenger" bus that seats fourteen, a quote that left out gratuity and the hours from the garage, a cleaning fee nobody mentioned. This guide covers the sizes, the prices and the checks that prevent those surprises. Rides in Portland are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk.
How much does a party bus cost in Portland?
On Elly8.net a Portland party bus is priced in the web booker for your addresses, date and hours, with taxes and standard gratuity included. The fixed-price alternative is a 12-seat Executive Sprinter at US$190 an hour with a three-hour minimum, or US$950 for the evening out package: about US$79 a person for twelve, as arithmetic only.
Party bus prices depend on four things: the size of the bus, the night of the week, the number of hours, and how far the bus travels to reach you. A five-hour Saturday in June is a different job from a three-hour Tuesday in February. That is why the booker asks for every address and the hours you need; the number it shows is the number you pay, with tolls and parking billed at cost.
For the vehicles on the Portland price list, the numbers are fixed in advance:
| Vehicle | Seats | By the hour (3-hour minimum) | Evening out and event night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business SUV | up to 6 | US$120 | US$600 |
| First Class SUV | up to 6 | US$145 | US$725 |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | US$190 | US$950 |
| Stretch Limousine | up to 8 | web booker | web booker |
| Party Bus | up to 12 on our fleet page | web booker | web booker |
| Stretch SUV Limousine | up to 16 | web booker | web booker |
Every Elly8.net price is per vehicle, never per person.

Sizes: what "up to 20 passengers" really means
Party bus capacity is the most misunderstood number in the industry. A listing that says "up to 20" may count every inch of perimeter bench, or include standing room, or assume twenty slim adults with no coats on a December night in Portland. Before you compare prices, compare real seats.
Ask for the seated count with seat belts. That is the number that matters on the freeway, and it is usually lower than the headline figure.
Allow one empty seat in eight. Coats, gift bags and the friend who sprawls all take space.
Match the bus to the confirmed head count, not the invitation list. If twelve people say yes and nine turn up, you have paid for a bigger vehicle than you needed; if twelve say yes and fifteen turn up, someone is left at the curb because the driver cannot exceed the vehicle's capacity.
Here is how the classes on the Elly8.net fleet page line up:
| Group size | Vehicle | Character |
|---|---|---|
| 4 to 6 | Business SUV or First Class SUV | Low-key dinner and drinks, two stops |
| up to 8 | Stretch Limousine | The classic limo look for photos and arrivals |
| up to 12 | Executive Sprinter | Forward-facing seats, calm cabin, room for bags; on the price list |
| up to 12 | Party Bus | Perimeter seating, lighting and sound, the vehicle is part of the night |
| up to 16 | Stretch SUV Limousine | Bigger celebrations with a limousine feel |
| 17 and up | Two vehicles, or a larger bus on request | Ask the desk what partners can supply for your date |
Larger buses exist in the Portland area. The desk will tell you what partners can actually confirm for your date rather than promise a size it cannot guarantee. For a direct comparison of the Sprinter and the bus, see our Portland Sprinter van rental guide.
Prices: reading a party bus quote line by line
When you have two or three quotes, line them up against these questions. The cheapest headline is often not the cheapest night.
- Is gratuity included? On Elly8.net, standard gratuity is in the price. If another quote leaves it out, add it before comparing.
- Are taxes and fees included? Ours are. Look for fuel or "service" charges added at the bottom.
- What is the minimum? Ours is three hours on the hourly rate. Other operators may set higher minimums on weekends; ask.
- When does the clock start? Ask whether the hours run from your pickup or from the operator's base, and get it in writing.
- How is overtime charged? Ask for the overtime rate per hour, and whether partial hours are rounded up, before the night.
- What about cleaning and damage? Damage and cleaning beyond normal use may be charged at cost by the operator. Know the rule before the confetti cannon comes out.
- What is the deposit and cancellation policy? Ours: more than 72 hours before pickup free; 72 hours or less 10%; 48 hours or less 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%, refunded to the original card. The full text is on our cancellation policy page.
Put the answers side by side and the real price becomes obvious.
A worked example: twelve friends, one Saturday
To see how the choices change the bill, take a real-looking plan: twelve friends, a birthday, pickup in Northeast Portland at 6:30 p.m., dinner in the Pearl, a second stop downtown, home by 11:30. That is five hours.
| Option | How it is priced | Total per booking | Arithmetic per person, 12 people |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Executive Sprinter, evening out package | fixed, up to 5 hours | US$950 | about US$79 |
| One Executive Sprinter, hourly | 5 hours at US$190 | US$950 | about US$79 |
| Two Business SUVs, evening out package | 2 x US$600 | US$1,200 | US$100 |
| One Party Bus | web booker for this route and date | shown before you pay | divide the quote by 12 |
Two lessons come out of it. First, one larger vehicle is usually cheaper than two smaller ones for a group that stays together. Second, the evening package and the hourly rate meet at five hours; if the night might run to six, the hourly booking (US$1,140 for six hours) is the honest way to price it, and the desk confirms any extra hour before it starts. Two SUVs only make sense if the group plans to split up halfway through.
Checks: is the operator permitted in Portland?
The Portland Bureau of Transportation's Private For-Hire Transportation program applies City Code 16.40, and PBOT says its inspectors carry out thousands of vehicle safety inspections every year, confirm registration and insurance, and review the background and driving records of drivers who apply for permits. The same page offers a downloadable list of permitted companies and a route for complaints. If you are booking directly with a local operator, check the company is on that list.
For a trip that crosses state lines, for example a group crossing the Columbia into Vancouver, Washington, buses used in interstate service carry a USDOT number you can look up on the federal FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot.
The night itself: Portland routes and timing
Game nights. The Rose Quarter, with Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum, hosts the Trail Blazers, the Winterhawks and the Portland Fire, and Providence Park hosts the Timbers. A bus or Sprinter drops the group near the entrance and waits at an agreed pickup point a short walk away. Agree a meeting time and a backup spot before you go in; phones die and crowds disorient.
Downtown, the Pearl and the east side. A classic birthday night runs dinner in the Pearl, drinks downtown and a late stop across the river. Each stop adds a few minutes of loading and unloading; budget 15 minutes per stop on top of the drive.
Breweries and wineries. Portland's brewery taprooms and the Willamette Valley wineries to the south-west both make popular group days. Winery tastings usually need appointments, and a bigger group may need a group booking; set those first. See wine country tours.
Proms and graduations. For under-21 groups, book a no-alcohol vehicle with a firm return time; see prom limousines.
A realistic five-hour Saturday looks like: 6:30 pickup, 7:00 dinner, 8:45 back on board, 9:00 to 10:30 a second stop, 11:00 a final stop or the drive home, 11:30 drop-off. If the plan has more than three stops, add an hour.
Rules on board
This is the question every group asks. Laws on alcohol in vehicles differ by state and by the type of vehicle and licence. On an Elly8.net booking the chauffeur follows Oregon's rules, and we never plan a night around drinking in the vehicle. What does not vary:
- Nobody under the legal drinking age drinks on board.
- Passengers stay seated while the vehicle moves.
- The driver can end the trip if the group puts the vehicle or other road users at risk.
- The driver decides when and where it is safe to stop.
Weddings are different
A wedding party bus has a timeline, not a party plan: hotel to ceremony, ceremony to photos, photos to reception, and guest shuttles at the end. Many Portland couples combine a First Class car for themselves with a Sprinter for the wedding party. Our Portland wedding limo guide covers the timeline, park permits and costs in detail; see also wedding limousine and guest shuttles.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a party bus in Portland?
A party bus is priced in the Elly8.net web booker for your route, date and hours, with taxes and standard gratuity included. The fixed-price alternative is a 12-seat Executive Sprinter at US$190 an hour (three-hour minimum) or US$950 for an evening out, per vehicle. Tolls and parking are billed at cost.
How many people fit on a Portland party bus?
The party bus class on our fleet page seats up to 12. A stretch SUV limousine seats up to 16, and larger buses can be requested from the desk depending on partner availability. Always ask any operator for the seated count with seat belts, not the headline capacity.
How far ahead should we book a party bus?
As early as your date is fixed. Saturdays in late spring and summer, graduation season, and nights with a big game or concert at the Rose Quarter go first. Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup means booking early carries little risk.
Is the price per person?
No. Every Elly8.net price is per vehicle. Dividing it is simple arithmetic for comparison only: twelve people sharing the US$950 Sprinter evening is about US$79 each. The booking is paid as one fare by the organiser.
Can we drink on a Portland party bus?
On an Elly8.net booking, the chauffeur follows Oregon's rules on alcohol in vehicles, and we do not plan nights around drinking on board. Nobody under the legal drinking age drinks in any case. Plan the celebrations for the venues, and let the vehicle get everyone there and home.
How do we check a party bus company is legitimate?
In Portland, check the company appears on the Portland Bureau of Transportation's list of permitted private for-hire companies, which PBOT publishes. For interstate trips, look up the operator's USDOT number on the FMCSA SAFER Company Snapshot. Ask for proof of commercial insurance and a written quote with every fee.
