A Mykonos day tour with a private driver is mostly about choosing the right corners of a small island. No drive from Mykonos Town takes much more than a quarter of an hour on a clear road, but the beaches, the inland village of Ano Mera, the Armenistis lighthouse and the quiet north coast are spread out, the bus does not reach them all, and in summer the afternoon traffic on the south coast is slow. A driver who waits at each stop turns five scattered places into one easy day.
With Elly8.net, the private city highlights tour costs from US$360 in a business sedan, US$460 in a business SUV and US$720 in an Executive Sprinter; a full day costs from US$665 in a business sedan to US$1,325 in a Sprinter; and the car by the hour costs from US$90 with a 3-hour minimum. Every price is per vehicle, fixed and charged in US dollars. This guide sets out three routes with drive times routed on the public OSRM server, how Delos fits around them, and which booking suits which day.
What is the best way to tour Mykonos in a day?
Split the island into three loops: the north with the Armenistis lighthouse and Agios Sostis; Ano Mera and the east coast beaches; and the south coast for a long lunch and sunset. A private driver can link two of them in a day, or one loop with a morning boat to Delos, from US$360 per vehicle.
All distances and times below are routed estimates from the public OSRM server on a clear road. In July and August, the late afternoon and evening are much slower around town and the southern beaches.
| Route | Legs | Clear-road driving | Feel of the day |
|---|---|---|---|
| The north and the lighthouse | Town to Armenistis lighthouse 8 km; lighthouse to Agios Sostis 8 km; Agios Sostis to Ano Mera 10 km; Ano Mera to town 9 km | about 1 hr in total | Wild coast, views, a quiet beach |
| Ano Mera and the east | Town to Ano Mera 9 km; Ano Mera to Kalafatis 4 km; Ano Mera to Elia or Fokos about 4 km each | about 45 min in total | Monastery, village square, east-coast beaches |
| The south coast | Town to Psarou 5 km; town to Paradise 7 km; town to Agios Ioannis 6 km | 10 to 15 min each way | Beach clubs, long lunches, sunset |

Route one: the north and the Armenistis lighthouse
The lighthouse at Armenistis, on the island's north-west tip, is about 8 km (5 mi) from town, roughly 18 minutes by road, the last part along a narrow road out on the headland. According to the Municipality of Mykonos, it was built in 1891 in response to the wreck of the steamship Volta in 1887, which cost many lives in the dangerous currents west of the island. It is one of the best viewpoints on Mykonos, looking out to the neighbouring islands, and it is quiet in the morning.
From the lighthouse, Agios Sostis on the north coast is about 8 km (5 mi), around a quarter of an hour by our routing. It is a beach without the clubs of the south coast and is not on the main bus lines, which is exactly why a driver helps. From there, Ano Mera is about 10 km (6 mi) inland, and town is about 9 km (5 mi) back.
A sample morning. Leave town at 9:30 for the lighthouse; on to Agios Sostis by 10:45 for a swim; lunch in Ano Mera at 13:00; back in town by 15:00. That suits the private city highlights tour or a few hours by the hour.
Route two: Ano Mera and the east coast
Ano Mera, the island's inland village, is about 9 km (5 mi) from town, roughly 12 minutes by road. Its centrepiece is the monastery of Panagia Tourliani. The municipality's Ano Mera page describes a tradition kept since 1542: the monastery's icon of the Virgin is carried down to Chora on the first Saturday of Lent and back up to the monastery on Lazarus Saturday, with islanders walking the route. The village square, with its tavernas, is a natural lunch stop.
From Ano Mera the east coast is close. Kalafatis is about 4 km (2 mi) away, roughly 6 minutes, and Elia and Fokos are each about 4 km (2 mi) in their own directions. Kalafatis and Elia are on the bus lines from town; Fokos is not.
A sample day. Leave town at 10:00 for the monastery in Ano Mera; on to Kalafatis or Elia for the late morning; lunch back in the Ano Mera square or at the beach; a late-afternoon stop at Fokos if the road suits the vehicle; and back to town before the evening traffic. That is a comfortable full day with time to spare, or a longer booking by the hour.
Route three: the south coast and the sunset
The south coast is the busiest part of the island and the closest to town. Psarou is about 5 km (3 mi) away, roughly 10 minutes, Paradise about 7 km (4 mi) and Agios Ioannis, on the south-west coast, about 6 km (4 mi). These are the beaches with the clubs and the long lunches, and the KTEL buses and the boats along the coast serve them well during the day.
The driver earns their place at the end of the afternoon. When the beach clubs empty and everyone heads back to town or out to dinner, taxis are scarce and the roads slow down. A car booked for a set time, collecting you at the club entrance and taking you on to dinner in Little Venice or back to your villa, takes the stress out of the island's busiest hour. The evening out and event night package, from US$450 in a business sedan to US$900 in an Executive Sprinter, covers that kind of evening; see event transportation.
Delos: the morning boat and the island afternoon
Delos, the sacred island of the ancient Greeks and one of the great archaeological sites of the Mediterranean, is reached by boat from the old port of Mykonos Town. The municipality's Delos page lists, for the 2026 season, return fares of €25 for adults aged 13 and over and €12 for children aged 6 to 12, with children up to 5 free. Departures from the old port were at 10:00, 11:30 and 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, and at 10:00 and 17:00 on Mondays, with returns from Delos at 13:30, 15:00 and 20:00 (13:30 and 20:00 on Mondays). Check the times for your dates, because the schedule is set season by season.
The same page warns that the crossing runs only when the weather allows. In winter, and in summer when the strong meltemi winds blow, Delos can be unreachable for visitors and staff alike. Keep the Delos morning flexible and have a plan B.
The best combination with a driver is a morning on Delos and an afternoon on Mykonos. Take the 10:00 boat, return at 13:30, and the car meets you at the old port for lunch in Ano Mera and an afternoon on the east coast or at the lighthouse. That uses the private city highlights tour or a few hours by the hour, with the morning free on the boat. From a villa, book the car for the run to the harbour as well.

The private city highlights tour covers Chora, the windmills, Ano Mera, the lighthouse viewpoints and a beach stop, and suits a first look at the island. See private city tours.
By the hour suits a half day built around Delos or a lunch reservation. Three hours in a business sedan is US$270, as arithmetic from the published hourly rate. See hourly chauffeur service.
The full day suits two routes in one day, a group moving between a villa, a beach and dinner, or a celebration where the car stays with you throughout.
As a comparison only, a Business SUV full day at US$850 shared by six travellers works out at about US$142 each; the price is charged per vehicle.
Which vehicle on Mykonos roads
The island's roads shape the choice. A Business Sedan or First Class Sedan is the easiest car on narrow roads and suits couples. A Business SUV or First Class SUV, with six seats and six large bags, is the usual choice for families and for the unpaved last stretches to some beaches and villas. The Executive Sprinter carries twelve passengers and is right for groups, but a large van is not suited to every road on the island; the desk checks the route with the local partner before confirming it, and where a van cannot reach a stop, we say so and offer two SUVs instead. See Sprinter van with driver and the fleet page.
Timing a tour in summer
On Mykonos, the clock matters more than the map. Mornings are quiet everywhere, and the lighthouse, Ano Mera and the north coast are at their best before midday. From late afternoon in July and August, the roads around town and the south coast slow down sharply, and an 8-minute drive can take 20 minutes or more. Plan the far corners for the morning and the beach close to town for the afternoon, and book the evening return in advance. In the shoulder months of May, June, September and October, the whole island is easier and every route works at any time of day.
Why a driver rather than a rental or the bus
The KTEL buses reach most of the main beaches and villages, and for a light traveller they are a good, cheap way to see the south coast. They do not reach every stop on these routes, and they run to a timetable rather than your plan. Rental cars and ATVs suit confident drivers, but the roads are narrow and winding, parking near Chora and the popular beaches is limited in summer, and someone has to drive back after lunch. A driver means you go where you like, when you like, and everyone in the party enjoys the day. Our guide to Mykonos taxi vs Uber vs private car compares every way of getting around the island, and Uber in Mykonos explains why app rides are hard to rely on at the busiest hours. The wider trade-offs are on chauffeur vs car rental.
Booking and cancellation
Enter your hotel or villa as the pickup, list the stops and any boat or lunch times, choose the vehicle and reserve. The published tours and hourly bookings go to checkout in US$, and any other itinerary is quoted in the web booker at a fixed price. Confirmation arrives by email. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show, refunded to the original card.
Rides in Mykonos are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Villa managers and hotels book guests on account through hotel accounts. For the wider island, Visit Greece is the official tourism guide. Many trips continue to Santorini or Athens, where the same desk books the car.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a private day tour of Mykonos?
The private city highlights tour costs from US$360 in a business sedan, US$460 in a business SUV and US$720 in an Executive Sprinter. A full day costs from US$665 to US$1,325, and the car by the hour from US$90 with a 3-hour minimum. Prices are per vehicle, fixed in US dollars.
Can I see all of Mykonos in one day?
You can see a great deal. No drive from town takes much more than a quarter of an hour on a clear road, so two of the three routes, the north and lighthouse, Ano Mera and the east, or the south coast, fit comfortably into a full day with a driver.
How do I fit Delos into a Mykonos day tour?
Take a morning boat from the old port and spend the afternoon touring the island by car. For the 2026 season, boats left at 10:00 and returned at 13:30, among other times, with adult return fares of €25. Crossings depend on the weather, so keep that morning flexible.
What is there to see at Ano Mera?
Ano Mera is the island's inland village, about 9 km (5 mi) from town, with the monastery of Panagia Tourliani and a square lined with tavernas. The municipality describes a tradition kept since 1542 of carrying the monastery's icon to Chora and back each spring.
Is a Sprinter suitable for a Mykonos tour?
For groups, yes, on routes it can drive. Some roads to beaches, villas and viewpoints are narrow or unpaved for the last stretch, so the desk checks the route with the local partner first and offers two SUVs where a van cannot reach a stop.
When is the best time of day to tour Mykonos?
The morning. The lighthouse, Ano Mera and the north coast are quiet before midday. In July and August the roads around town and the southern beaches slow sharply from late afternoon, so plan the far corners first and book the evening return in advance.
