Good limo transportation in Chicago is mostly about the map and the clock. The price of an Elly8.net ride is fixed when you book, from US$215 from O'Hare to the Loop and US$160 from Midway in a Business Sedan, so the variables that matter to you are where the chauffeur picks up, which expressway the trip uses, and what else is happening in the city that day.
Rides in Chicago are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. This guide is the desk's local knowledge in one place: the roads that set your timing, the neighbourhoods and their curbs, the routes people book most, and the event days when you should book early and plan the pickup point with care.
When is Chicago traffic worst for a pre-booked ride?
The slowest times are the weekday morning and afternoon commutes on the expressways, Friday afternoons before holiday weekends, game nights around the United Center, Soldier Field and Wrigley Field, big McCormick Place show days, Lollapalooza weekend and marathon morning, plus any snowfall. The fare stays fixed; the desk adds a buffer to the pickup time.
The clear-road times on our fare panel are the floor. O'Hare to the Loop is about 22 mi (35 km) and roughly 56 minutes on a clear road; Midway to the Loop is about 13 mi (21 km) and roughly 28 minutes. For the live picture on the day, IDOT's Travel Midwest map shows congestion, incidents and travel times across the region, and the desk checks the same kind of information when it plans a departure.

The roads that decide your timing
Most Chicago rides use one of a handful of corridors, and knowing them helps you read a pickup time.
- The Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) runs northwest from downtown towards O'Hare. It carries most airport traffic and most of the evening rush out of the Loop.
- The Stevenson Expressway (I-55) runs southwest towards Midway, which is why Midway is often the faster airport from the South Loop and McCormick Place.
- The Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) runs south from downtown, used for the South Side, Hyde Park routes and trips towards Indiana.
- The Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) runs west through the Near West Side, past the medical district, towards the western suburbs.
- The Edens Expressway (I-94) branches north towards the North Shore suburbs and the route to Milwaukee.
- DuSable Lake Shore Drive follows the lakefront and is often the most pleasant way between the Gold Coast, Streeterville, Museum Campus and the South Side, though it has its own closures for events.
Airport runs are where corridor choice matters most. A Business Sedan from O'Hare is US$215 whichever road the chauffeur takes, and the airport transfers page explains how flight tracking and meet and greet work at both airports. For a day that strings several neighbourhoods together, an hourly chauffeur at US$100 to US$200 an hour, with a 3-hour minimum, saves rebooking between stops.
Chauffeurs choose the route on the day. If you have a preference, for the lakefront view or to avoid a particular road, add it to the booking notes and the desk passes it on.
Neighbourhood by neighbourhood: where we pick up most
The Loop. The financial district along LaSalle Street, the towers on Wacker Drive, the courts and City Hall. Pickups here are about timing at the curb: many buildings have loading docks on Lower Wacker or side streets, and the desk notes the exact entrance. Union Station, for Amtrak, sits on the western edge; our train station transfers page covers rail connections.
The Magnificent Mile and Streeterville. Michigan Avenue north of the river holds many of the big hotels and the shopping. The Magnificent Mile association lists the stores and events along the avenue. Hotel motor courts are tight, and some properties prefer luggage pickups at a side door.
The Gold Coast. Quieter streets, boutique hotels and residential towers just north of the Mag Mile. A natural start for an evening out or a lakefront drive.
River North. Galleries, restaurants and nightlife between the river and Chicago Avenue, plus many of the newer hotels. Evening pickups here are busy on Fridays and Saturdays, so agree a precise meeting point.
Fulton Market and the West Loop. Restaurants, tech offices and converted warehouses. A frequent stop for client dinners and corporate events, a short ride from the Loop and close to the United Center.
The South Loop and McCormick Place. The convention campus on the Near South Side, the Museum Campus and Soldier Field on the lakefront. During big shows, every hotel lobby empties at the same time each morning; see the conference section below.
Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Residential neighbourhoods north along the lake, with Wrigley Field in Lakeview. Pickups on game days need an agreed spot away from the ballpark crowds.
Hyde Park. The University of Chicago and the museums of the South Side, usually reached by DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Choose Chicago, the city's tourism board, has neighbourhood guides if you are planning a longer itinerary.
The routes people book most
Here are the trips the desk handles every week, with the fixed price or the package that applies. Every price is per vehicle and all-in; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
| Route or trip | How it is priced | From (Business Sedan) | Notes |

Larger vehicles follow the same pattern: an Executive Sprinter is US$560 from O'Hare and US$200 an hour. For trips beyond the city, such as Milwaukee, Indianapolis or Detroit, the city-to-city car service page explains long-distance bookings, and our guide to the Milwaukee to O'Hare car service covers the most common one.
Event days that reshape the map
Chicago's event calendar is the biggest single factor in ride planning after the weather. A few fixed points to know:
- Conventions at McCormick Place. RSNA runs November 29 to December 3, 2026 (rsna.org), HIMSS27 is April 5 to 8, 2027, and the National Restaurant Association Show is May 22 to 25, 2027. On these dates, morning runs from Loop and River North hotels all hit the campus at once.
- The Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It is held on the second Sunday of October; the next edition is October 10, 2027 (chicagomarathon.com). Race morning closes much of the course, so airport runs and hotel pickups need routes and meeting points agreed in advance.
- Lollapalooza in Grant Park. The 2026 edition ran July 30 to August 2, and the festival usually returns in late July or early August. Streets near Grant Park close or reroute, so pickups move to side streets a few blocks away.
- The 2027 MLB All-Star Game at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, July 13, 2027, according to MLB. Expect All-Star week crowds across Lakeview and heavy demand for cars.
- Game nights. Bulls and Blackhawks at the United Center, Bears at Soldier Field, Cubs at Wrigley. The sports event transportation page explains how we stage the drop-off and the post-game pickup.
For exhibitors and delegates, the desk can run daily hotel-to-hall transfers, keep a car on standby through set-up, and handle evening client dinners; the conference and trade show transportation page describes multi-day schedules, and our post on Chicago executive car service explains accounts and invoicing for teams.
For any of these, book early. Partner capacity, especially SUVs and Sprinters, is the first thing to sell out, and a booking made weeks ahead gets the vehicle you want at the fixed price. Our event transportation page covers galas, award dinners and private events.
Seasons: what changes through the year
Winter. Snow and ice slow everything, and coats, boots and bags take space in the car. Families who would fit a sedan in July often need an SUV in January. The desk adds a larger buffer to airport departures on snow days.
Spring. Convention season at McCormick Place picks up, and baseball returns at Wrigley and on the South Side.
Summer. Festival weekends, lakefront crowds, wedding season and the busiest weekends for party groups. Evening pickups in River North and the West Loop need precise meeting points.
Autumn. The marathon in October, football at Soldier Field, and the start of holiday shopping on Michigan Avenue. Late November brings RSNA and the Thanksgiving travel peak at both airports.
Choosing the vehicle for the route
The route also shapes the vehicle. A sedan is easiest to place at a narrow hotel door or a Loop loading dock. An SUV is the practical choice for families, winter luggage and golf bags. An Executive Sprinter keeps a group of up to twelve together but may need an agreed pickup point on busy streets. Our guide to Chicago limo car service vehicles compares each class in detail, and the fleet page lists passenger and bag capacities.
How to book Chicago limo transportation
- Enter the pickup and drop-off, with a flight number for airport pickups and the hotel entrance if you have a preference.
- Choose the vehicle and, for days with several stops, the hourly or package option.
- Press Reserve now on a fixed price, or use the web booker for any other address. Confirmation arrives by email, with the chauffeur's details before pickup.
Cancellation is the same for every booking: more than 72 hours before pickup is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%. Refunds go to the original card. For flights and hotels, our travel partner is BookingWorldwide.net; Elly8.net books the car. Every Chicago fare is listed on the Chicago limo service page.
Frequently asked questions
Which Chicago airport is closer to downtown?
Midway. It is about 13 mi (21 km) from the Loop, roughly 28 minutes on a clear road, against about 22 mi (35 km) and roughly 56 minutes from O'Hare. Fares follow the distance: a Business Sedan is US$160 from Midway and US$215 from O'Hare, fixed and all-in.
How do you handle pickups on marathon morning or during Lollapalooza?
The desk plans an agreed pickup point outside the closures, usually a side street a few blocks from the course or the park, and routes around the restricted area. Book as early as you can, give the exact hotel entrance, and keep your phone on so the chauffeur can confirm the meeting point.
Can a chauffeur wait for us during a game or concert?
Yes. The Evening out and event night package keeps the car with you for five hours, from US$500 in a Business Sedan, and the chauffeur meets you at an agreed point after the event. For longer nights, book by the hour from US$100, with a 3-hour minimum.
Do prices change at rush hour or on event days?
No. Elly8.net prices are fixed when you book and do not rise with traffic, weather or demand. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost, so the only thing that changes on a busy day is the pickup time the desk recommends.
Can you take us outside the city, to the suburbs or Wisconsin?
Yes. Enter the address in the web booker for a fixed quote to the suburbs, or book the Lake Geneva day trip package from US$920. Longer runs to Milwaukee, Indianapolis or Detroit are handled as city-to-city trips, priced in the booker before you pay.
What is the best way to get from a Loop hotel to McCormick Place each morning?
For one or two people, a short transfer priced in the web booker works well. For a team, an Executive Sprinter or an hourly car that waits through the morning keeps everyone together and avoids the taxi lines at closing time. On big show days, book the morning slot early, because every hotel empties at once.
