San Jose Mineta International (SJC) is the closest airport for most of Silicon Valley, and it is quick to leave. What makes the difference on a business trip is not the airport but the half hour after it: finding your ride among the taxi stops, app zones and limousine areas, then getting through US-101 traffic to a campus with six buildings and three visitor lobbies. A pre-booked SJC car service takes both problems off your hands.
With Elly8.net, SJC to Silicon Valley (priced to Mountain View) is a fixed US$145 in a Business Sedan, US$190 in a Business SUV and US$380 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle and the same fare in either direction. The price includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet. Here is exactly what happens, step by step.
How much is a car service from SJC?
An Elly8.net car from SJC to Silicon Valley (Mountain View) costs US$145 in a Business Sedan, US$190 in a Business SUV, US$235 in a First Class SUV, US$255 in a First Class Sedan and US$380 in an Executive Sprinter. Fares are fixed, all-in and per vehicle, in either direction.
The round trip between SJC and Mountain View runs from US$280 in a Business Sedan to US$725 in an Executive Sprinter. For any other address, such as downtown San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino or Palo Alto, the web booker quotes a fixed fare the moment you enter it. Every route is on the San Jose fares panel.

Before you land: three details that matter
The flight that lands at SJC. The chauffeur tracks it. If you connect, give the final leg.
The exact drop-off, down to the lobby. "Mountain View" is not an address. Large campuses have several buildings and visitor lobbies; send the building number or lobby name and the chauffeur goes straight there.
The rest of the day. If you have meetings after landing, book by the hour from US$100 an hour in a Business Sedan, with a 3-hour minimum, or the corporate roadshow day, and the same car stays with you.
Step by step: from landing to drop-off
1. Touchdown
The chauffeur has been following the flight since departure. An early landing means an early chauffeur; a delay moves the pickup automatically. Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included, so a late inbound does not cost more.
2. The walk to baggage claim
SJC has two terminals, Terminal A and Terminal B, each with its own baggage claim. The chauffeur goes to the terminal your airline uses and waits inside with a name board. You do not need to look for a taxi stop or an app zone.
SJC's limousine page adds a useful warning: ignore anyone in the terminal offering you a ride. Solicitors are not authorised and are breaking the law, however official they look. Your chauffeur has your name on a board and the desk has sent you their details before you flew.
3. Out to the car
Pre-arranged limousine service at SJC uses set areas, according to the airport. At Terminal A, reserved limousines are on the first floor of Hourly Lot 2, the Terminal A garage, outside baggage claim, and international arrivals use Stop 3 on the south-east side of the same lot. At Terminal B, reserved limousines are in Hourly Lot 5, outside baggage claim. The chauffeur takes your bags and walks you there; it is a short walk from either claim hall.
4. Leaving the airport
From SJC, Mountain View is about 11 miles (18 km), roughly 17 minutes on a clear road. The chauffeur chooses between US-101, Central Expressway and other routes based on traffic at that moment. The stretch of US-101 between San Jose and Palo Alto slows sharply at commute peaks; the fare stays fixed.
5. The drop-off
The chauffeur goes to the building and lobby you named. Large campuses often have security check-in, which can take a few minutes, so build that into your schedule rather than the drive. There is nothing to pay at the door; the gratuity and taxes were included when you booked.
The other ways out of SJC, for comparison
It is worth knowing the alternatives, because for some trips they are the better choice.
| Option | Where at SJC | Price | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| VTA Route 60 Airport Flyer | Terminal A Stop 7, Terminal B Stop 5 | free from SJC; light rail fare extra | solo traveller, carry-on, heading to a station |
| Taxi | Terminal A Stop 2, Terminal B Stop 1 | US$15 first mile, US$4 each additional mile, US$1 per waiting minute | short trips, no booking |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft and others) | Terminal A curbside and island Stop 1; Terminal B island Stops 8 to 10 | varies with demand | off-peak, flexible plans |
| Elly8.net Business Sedan to Mountain View | inside the terminal, name board | US$145 fixed | meetings, late flights, a known price |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter to Mountain View | inside the terminal, name board | US$380 fixed | teams and families with bags |
The figures come from the airport. SJC's public transit page says VTA Route 60 connects Terminal A (Stop 7) and Terminal B (Stop 5) to Milpitas BART and Winchester stations and is free in either direction from SJC, with a light rail fare for onward travel; Caltrain is reached via the Santa Clara Transit Center. The taxi page lists the metered rate of US$15 for the first mile, US$4 per additional mile and US$1 per minute of waiting. The rideshare page sets out the app pickup stops by terminal.
On the 11-mile run to Mountain View, the taxi meter's distance charge alone comes to about US$55 before traffic minutes and tip, so a taxi is still cheaper than a US$145 pre-booked sedan for one person. What the sedan adds is the fixed price, meet and greet, gratuity included, and a car that can stay with you. Premium app rides such as Uber Black or Lyft Black pick up at the app locations rather than the limousine areas, the airport notes; our Uber Black vs chauffeur comparison covers the differences.
Where SJC arrivals usually go
The price list uses Mountain View as the reference point, the middle of the valley corridor. In practice, SJC drop-offs spread across the South Bay and the Peninsula, and each area has its own timing quirks.
Downtown San Jose. Hotels around the convention center and SAP Center are a short run from SJC. On event nights the streets near the arena and Diridon Station fill quickly, so give the desk the hotel entrance.
Santa Clara and Levi's Stadium. Close to the airport, but game days on Tasman Drive and Great America Parkway build traffic hours before kickoff. Levi's Stadium publishes its event calendar; check it if you land on a game day.
Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Cupertino. The heart of the campus belt. Send the building number or lobby name, because one campus can have several visitor entrances.
Palo Alto and Menlo Park. The longest of the common runs from SJC. The chauffeur may use Central Expressway or I-280 when US-101 is slow.
Los Gatos and Saratoga. Hillside homes and wedding venues where a full address and gate details save time.
For any of these, the web booker gives a fixed fare before you reserve.
Choosing the vehicle
The fleet page lists seats for each class: Business Sedan and First Class Sedan up to 3, Business SUV and First Class SUV up to 6, Executive Sprinter up to 12. For two executives with carry-ons, a sedan is fine. For a family, golf bags or trade show cases, book the SUV. For a team arriving together for an offsite or a conference at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, one Sprinter keeps everyone and their bags together; see group transportation.
Bags matter as much as seats. If every traveller has a large checked case plus a laptop bag, book one size up from the headcount; three adults with three large suitcases are more comfortable in an SUV, which costs US$45 more than a sedan on the Mountain View run. Tell the desk about anything unusual, such as demo equipment, a bike box or a wheelchair, when you book.
Departures: SJC on the way home
The departure fare is the same flat price as the arrival. Give the desk the airline and flight time, and the chauffeur plans the pickup around valley traffic at that hour, then drops you at the right terminal's departures curb. For an evening flight after a day of meetings, keep the car by the hour and go straight from the last meeting to the airport with your bag already in the trunk.
SJC or SFO?
For San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Cupertino, SJC is usually closer and quicker. For Palo Alto and Menlo Park, either works, and San Francisco International has far more long-haul flights. SFO to Mountain View starts at US$255 in a Business Sedan against US$145 from SJC, and the drive is about 29 miles (47 km) instead of 11. The San Jose and Silicon Valley car service page compares both airports, and the San Francisco page covers SFO if you are staying in the city first.
Roadshows and business days after landing
Many SJC bookings are the first leg of a full day: a landing, three or four meetings between Sand Hill Road and Cupertino, and an evening flight. The corporate roadshow day runs from US$900 in a Business Sedan to US$1,800 in an Executive Sprinter, with one chauffeur and one vehicle for the whole programme. Send the meeting list and the desk sequences it. The investor roadshow chauffeur page explains how assistants send schedules, and corporate accounts add monthly invoicing, saved traveller profiles and NDAs on request. See also corporate car service.
Travelling on through California
Trips from the valley often continue. One-way transfers to Sacramento, Napa Valley or Lake Tahoe are quoted as one fixed fare in the booker; see city to city car service. If your trip ends in the capital, our Sacramento airport car service guide covers SMF, and Uber at Sacramento airport vs taxi vs private car compares the options there.
Rides in San Jose and Silicon Valley are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. Frequently asked questions
Where does a pre-booked car pick up at SJC?
The chauffeur meets you inside your terminal with a name board, then walks you to the car. SJC directs reserved limousines to the first floor of Hourly Lot 2 outside Terminal A baggage claim, with international arrivals at Stop 3, and to Hourly Lot 5 outside Terminal B baggage claim.
How much is a car service from SJC to Mountain View?
An Elly8.net Business Sedan is US$145, a Business SUV US$190, a First Class SUV US$235, a First Class Sedan US$255 and an Executive Sprinter US$380, per vehicle. Fares are fixed and all-in, with tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time billed at cost.
Is a taxi cheaper from SJC?
For one person, usually yes. SJC taxis charge a metered US$15 for the first mile, US$4 for each additional mile and US$1 per minute of waiting, so the distance to Mountain View comes to about US$55 before traffic and tip. A pre-booked car costs more but is fixed and includes meet and greet.
What happens if the flight is late?
The chauffeur tracks the flight and adjusts to the actual landing, so a delay does not change the fare, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included. You receive the chauffeur's details before you fly, and the 24/7 desk can be reached at any time.
Can the car stay with us for meetings after landing?
Yes. Book by the hour, from US$100 an hour in a Business Sedan with a 3-hour minimum, or the corporate roadshow day from US$900. The chauffeur waits outside each meeting and keeps bags secure in the car, then takes you back to SJC for an evening flight.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less it is 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show it is 100%. Refunds go to the original card.
