A Saskatoon airport taxi from YXE to downtown costs C$21 on the airport's published zone fare, including GST and the C$2 airport trip fee, or whatever the meter shows if you choose the meter instead. You pick one or the other before the trip starts. Rideshare through Uber, Lyft or Spinr picks up at a marked area on the curb in front of the terminal, and Saskatoon Transit runs a city bus to the downtown terminal for a C$3.25 adult cash fare.
A pre-booked Elly8.net car for the same 7 km (4 mi) run costs from US$95 in a business sedan to US$250 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle, all-in. For one traveller with a carry-on at lunchtime, the zone taxi is the better deal and we say so below. This guide explains how each option works at YXE, what actually decides how long you wait, and the specific trips where the car booked in advance earns its price.
How much is a taxi from Saskatoon airport to downtown?
The YXE zone fare map sets a flat C$21 from the airport to the downtown zone, with GST and the C$2 airport trip fee included and gratuity extra. You can choose the meter instead; on a clear road it lands close to the same figure. A fixed Elly8.net business sedan is US$95 per vehicle.
The zone system is the most useful thing to understand about taxis at YXE. The Saskatoon Airport ground transportation page explains that every licensed taxi serving the terminal offers two ways to pay: a flat rate based on the airport's Zone Fare Map, or the regular meter. The airport introduced the flat-rate map so that travellers know the fare before they leave the curb and so nobody has to wonder about the route. Both options include the C$2 airport trip fee, and the choice is yours, not the driver's.
The map divides the city into coloured zones, each with one price from the terminal. The neighbourhoods closest to the airport are the cheapest, the far south-east suburbs the most expensive, and two outlying towns have their own flat rates. Prices are in Canadian dollars and include GST.
| From YXE to | Zone flat fare (C$) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hampton Village and the airport business area | 13.50 | Closest zone to the terminal |
| North Industrial | 18.50 | Just east of the airport |
| Mount Royal, Westmount, Caswell Hill | 20.00 | West-side neighbourhoods |
| Downtown and City Park | 21.00 | Most hotels and offices |
| University of Saskatchewan, Riversdale, King George | 24.00 | Campus and the west bank south of downtown |
| Nutana, Buena Vista, Varsity View | 27.00 | Broadway Avenue area |
| Evergreen, University Heights, Grosvenor Park | 32.00 | North-east and east side |
| The Willows, Wildwood, Lakeview | 38.00 | South-east |
| Stonebridge, Rosewood, Brighton, Holmwood | 44.50 | Furthest suburbs |
| Martensville | 43.00 | Outlying community flat rate |
| Warman | 60.00 | Outlying community flat rate |
The small print on the map matters as much as the numbers. Gratuity is not included. If your address sits on the line between two zones, you pay the lower price. A request for a specific route, a stop on the way, a shared ride or a rural address outside the zones all switch you to the meter. And if you ask for a van when you book, van rates may apply. Fares are subject to change, so check the current map on the airport's page before you rely on a figure.

The meter, and when it beats the flat rate
The meter is set by the City of Saskatoon, which licenses both taxis and rideshare companies under its Vehicles for Hire Bylaw. According to the City's vehicles for hire page, the general taxi fare is C$4.75 for the first 125 metres, C$0.25 for each further 110 metres, and C$0.25 for every 35 seconds the taxi is completely stopped. The C$2 airport curb fee is added on top for airport trips.
Doing the arithmetic for the roughly 7 km from YXE to downtown gives a little over C$20 on the distance charge, plus the C$2 fee, before any stopped time. That is why the meter and the C$21 downtown zone fare land so close together on a clear afternoon. The difference shows up in the conditions you cannot control. A long red light on Idylwyld Drive, a fresh snowfall or rush hour all add stopped time to the meter, and none of it touches the flat rate. If you are going downtown and the roads look anything less than perfect, the zone fare is the safer choice.
There is one more charge to know about if you are travelling as a group. The City allows a large vehicle fare of C$9.50 on top of the general fare when a taxi with third-row seating, such as a van or larger SUV, is requested through dispatch. On a street hail the charge may only apply with five or more passengers. For a family of five with bags, that is the point where a fixed-price vehicle sized for the group starts to look competitive.
Rideshare at YXE: where it picks up and how it prices
Uber, Lyft and Spinr are the airport's contracted rideshare companies. You order in the app and walk to the designated rideshare pickup and drop-off area along the public curb in front of the terminal building. Drivers are allowed to wait in the cell phone parking lot but not along the curb itself, so the car you order is usually a short drive away rather than idling at the door. The C$2 commercial pickup fee applies to rideshare as well.
Rideshare prices are not published, because they change with demand. What the City does require is useful: a rideshare app must show you the applicable rate, any surge or variable pricing, and an estimate of the total fare at the moment you request the trip, and the minimum fare is C$4.75. Rideshare vehicles cannot be hailed on the street, and payment goes through the app. In practice, the price you see on a quiet weekday afternoon and the price you see when three flights land together on a Sunday evening can be quite different, and the app is the only place to find out.
| Option at YXE | Price to downtown | Where you meet it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saskatoon Transit bus | C$3.25 adult cash, exact change | Bus stop, then the downtown terminal | One traveller, light bag, daytime, no rush |
| Licensed taxi, zone fare | C$21 flat, GST and airport fee included, tip extra | Terminal curbside | Most solo travellers and couples |
| Licensed taxi, meter | Meter plus C$2 airport fee | Terminal curbside | Short hops to zones next to the airport |
| Rideshare (Uber, Lyft, Spinr) | Shown in the app, varies with demand | Marked rideshare area on the public curb | App users with light luggage |
| Hotel shuttle | Set by the hotel | Hotel's own pickup arrangement | Guests of hotels that run one |
| Elly8.net business sedan | US$95 fixed, per vehicle | Inside arrivals with a name board | Early flights, executives, set budgets |
| Elly8.net Executive Sprinter | US$250 fixed, per vehicle | Inside arrivals with a name board | Groups up to 12 with up to 12 bags |
What actually decides how long you wait
YXE is a compact single-terminal airport, so the walk from the gate to the curb is short. The wait that matters happens after that, and it depends on timing more than anything else.
Banked arrivals. When several flights land within a short window, everybody reaches the curb at once. The taxi queue and the rideshare app both feel it, and in rideshare that pressure can show up as a higher price as well as a longer wait.
Late nights and early mornings. Saskatoon is a mid-sized market. At midnight, or at 4:30 in the morning when you need to reach the airport for a first flight east, there are simply fewer cars on the road. The airport itself suggests pre-arranging a taxi by phone if you would rather not rely on the curb, and for departures it encourages booking drop-offs directly with a licensed operator.
Winter. Cold snaps and blowing snow slow everything down, from the drive in to the time it takes a family to load bags and car seats. Waiting at an outdoor curb in January is a different experience from waiting in July.
Group size. A party of five or six with luggage may need a van, which takes longer to find and can carry an extra charge, or two separate cars that arrive at different times.
The bus and the hotel shuttles
For a budget traveller, Saskatoon Transit is the cheapest way in. The adult cash fare is C$3.25, operators carry no change, and bills and pennies are not accepted, so have exact coins ready or use the transit app. The airport route runs to the downtown bus terminal, where you can transfer to the rest of the network; the airport recommends planning the trip with an online transit planner before you fly. It works well for one person with a backpack in daylight, and less well with two large suitcases at 11 at night.
The airport also notes that many nearby hotels run their own shuttles. If you are staying close to the airport, ask your hotel when you book. Those shuttles are not wheelchair accessible, according to YXE, so travellers who need an accessible vehicle should arrange an accessible taxi instead.
When a pre-booked car is the smarter call
Here is the honest version. If you are one person going downtown with a carry-on at a normal hour, take the C$21 zone taxi or order a rideshare. Our business sedan at US$95 is a much bigger number for the same 11 minutes, and nothing about this short run changes that.
The arithmetic changes when the trip has more moving parts.
An early or late flight you cannot miss. A 5 a.m. pickup booked a week ahead, with a chauffeur assigned and a confirmation in your inbox, removes the 4:30 a.m. question of whether a car will answer.
A delayed connection. Many routes into Saskatoon connect through larger hubs. Your Elly8.net chauffeur tracks the flight number on the booking and waits inside arrivals with a name board, with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, so a three-hour delay costs nothing extra. See airport meet and greet.
Groups and gear. An Executive Sprinter seats 12 with room for 12 bags, at US$250 for the vehicle. Divided across ten people that is US$25 each, as arithmetic for comparison only, because the price is per vehicle, not per person. Ten people otherwise need three taxis or a van at a van rate.
Families in winter. Child seats are fitted before pickup on request, so nobody is installing a car seat at a cold curb.
A day, not a ride. A visiting executive heading to head-office meetings, the university and dinner can roll the airport pickup into Saskatoon car service by the hour at US$110 an hour in a business sedan, 3-hour minimum, and keep one car and one chauffeur all day.
Company billing. A corporate account gives monthly invoicing in US dollars, which matters for companies flying people in from the United States.

Elly8.net fares at YXE
All Elly8.net prices are fixed, in US dollars, and per vehicle. They include the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet inside arrivals. Parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Every airport fare is the same in both directions, so the downtown-to-YXE departure costs exactly what the arrival does.
| Vehicle | YXE to or from downtown | YXE round trip | By the hour, 3-hour minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Sedan, up to 3 passengers and 2 bags | US$95 | US$185 | US$110 |
| Business SUV, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags | US$125 | US$240 | US$140 |
| First Class SUV, up to 6 passengers and 6 bags | US$155 | US$295 | US$165 |
| First Class Sedan, up to 3 passengers and 2 bags | US$170 | US$325 | US$180 |

Rides in Saskatoon are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer. The full price list, including the private city highlights tour, the evening out package and the full-day chauffeur, is on our Saskatoon limo service page, and the fleet guide shows what each vehicle carries.
Departures: getting to YXE on time
The zone fares work in both directions, so a downtown hotel to YXE taxi is the same C$21 flat rate if you ask for it before the trip starts. Because the drive is so short, a downtown pickup about two hours before a domestic departure is usually comfortable; leave more room for a flight to the United States or a holiday-weekend security line.
For an Elly8.net departure, the chauffeur collects you at the hotel door at the time you set and drops you at the terminal curb. If you are flying out of a Saskatoon meeting day, the simplest booking is an hourly block that ends at the airport. Groups heading south can also book the drive to Regina instead of a connecting flight: see our guide to the Regina airport shuttle and its alternatives for the other end, and the Regina car service page for fixed prices there.
Beyond the airport run
Most of what we book in Saskatoon happens after the airport: head-office days, a run out to Wanuskewin, a conference at TCU Place, a group night on Broadway, or a Sprinter of fans driving south for a Roughriders game. If you are organising a celebration, our Saskatoon limo bus guide covers vehicle sizes, prices and the questions to ask. For a road trip west, the same fixed-price service runs as our Edmonton limo service and Calgary car service, and the airport transfers page explains how pickups work across all 141 Elly8.net cities.
Elly8.net books the car only; flights and hotels go through our travel partner BookingWorldwide.net. Elly8.net is a member of LimousineWorldwide.Directory, LimousineAssociation.International, HotelsWorldwide.Directory and VacationsWorldwide.Directory.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Saskatoon airport to downtown?
C$21 on the YXE zone fare map, with GST and the C$2 airport trip fee included and the tip extra. You can choose the meter instead before the trip starts; on a clear road it comes out close to the flat rate, but stopped time in traffic or snow adds to the meter and not to the zone fare. Check the current map on the airport's website.
Is Uber available at Saskatoon airport?
Yes. Uber, Lyft and Spinr are the airport's contracted rideshare companies. Order in the app and walk to the marked rideshare area along the public curb in front of the terminal. The app shows the rate, any surge pricing and an estimated total before you confirm, and a C$2 airport fee applies.
Is there a bus from Saskatoon airport to downtown?
Yes. Saskatoon Transit runs a route between the airport and the downtown bus terminal, where you can transfer. The adult cash fare is C$3.25, exact change only, with no bills or pennies accepted. It is the cheapest option for one traveller with light luggage in the daytime.
How much is an Elly8.net car from YXE?
From US$95 in a business sedan, US$125 in a business SUV and US$250 in an Executive Sprinter, fixed and per vehicle. The price includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet inside arrivals. The same fare applies from downtown to the airport, and a round trip starts at US$185.
When is a pre-booked car worth it at YXE?
When the details matter more than the distance: a very early or very late flight, a delayed connection, a group of five or more with bags, children who need car seats, a full day of meetings after landing, or a company that wants fixed fares invoiced monthly. For one person going downtown at noon, a taxi is better value.
What is the Elly8.net cancellation policy?
Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100%, refunded to the original card where applicable. If your flight is cancelled, message the 24/7 desk and we move the booking.
