Getting from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World is a drive of roughly 19 to 25 miles (30 to 40 km), depending on whether your hotel is near Disney Springs or out by Magic Kingdom, and about 35 to 40 minutes on a clear road. The real choices are a shared shuttle charged per person, a taxi on the meter, a rental car with tolls and parking, or a pre-booked car service to Disney at a fixed price per vehicle.
There is no single right answer. A couple with two bags can do very well on the shuttle or in a taxi; a family of five with car seats, a stroller and a week of luggage usually cannot. This guide sets out the numbers the airport itself publishes, the honest strengths of each option, and how an Elly8.net chauffeur fits into an arrival day, a park day and a departure.
How far is Disney World from Orlando airport, and how long does it take?
By road, MCO is about 19 miles (30 km) from Disney Springs, about 21 miles (34 km) from the EPCOT area and about 25 miles (40 km) from the Magic Kingdom area, roughly 33 to 40 minutes on a clear road. Orlando Sanford (SFB) is about 50 miles (80 km) from Magic Kingdom, closer to 70 minutes.
Those times are clear-road routing estimates. Add margin for the afternoon thunderstorms of a Florida summer, for holiday weekends and for the evening rush on I-4. Most routes from MCO use the airport's toll expressways, run by the Central Florida Expressway Authority with cashless tolling, before joining I-4 or the Disney roads.

The four ways to get from MCO to Disney
Shared shuttle
Shared shuttle vans load on the Ground Transportation Curb (Level 1) of each terminal. The airport's shuttle page notes that shuttle van fares are charged per person, and its approximate rate table lists US$23/US$37 for the Disney resorts area, with round-trip and children's fares confirmed by the attendant. Mears Connect, one of the scheduled Disney-hotel shuttles, publishes one-way fares of US$16 for ages 10 and up and US$13 for ages 3 to 9, with children under 3 free, and currently adds a fuel surcharge.
The shuttle is the right answer for budget travellers, solo visitors and couples who do not mind a few stops at other hotels. The trade-offs are the queue, the shared ride and the per-person maths, which grows quickly with a family.
Taxi
Taxis wait on the Ground Transportation Curb at Terminals A and B and on the Arrivals Curb (Level 6) at Terminal C. The airport's taxi page says fares are set by the taximeter under the City of Orlando's vehicle-for-hire rules, flat rates are not authorized, and a taxi charges the same regardless of the number of passengers, up to nine. The approximate rate table lists US$52 to US$68 to the Disney resorts area, with traffic adding to the meter.
For three or four adults with normal luggage arriving mid-afternoon, a taxi is often the cheapest door-to-door option, and we say so plainly.
App ride
Uber, Lyft and other app rides pick up at the Arrivals Curb on Level 2 at Terminals A and B (with a late-evening departures-curb option) and on Level 6 at Terminal C, according to the airport's ride-share page. App prices are not published in advance and move with demand. The practical issue for families is car seats: you either carry your own through the airport or hope the car that arrives can take them.
Rental car
Driving yourself makes sense if you plan to leave the Disney bubble on several days: Kennedy Space Center, the beaches, Tampa. The costs are the daily rate, fuel, cashless tolls on the airport expressways and parking at the parks and your hotel, which you should check before you budget. If your plan is Disney and nothing else, a car can sit unused for most of the week. Our chauffeur vs renting a car guide works through the sums.
Pre-booked private car
An Elly8.net chauffeur tracks your flight, waits inside arrivals with a name board, helps with the bags and walks you to a vehicle already fitted with the child seats you asked for. The price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, and does not move with traffic or demand. Our published Orlando reference route is MCO to International Drive, from US$155 in a Business Sedan to US$405 in an Executive Sprinter. Disney resorts sit farther southwest than that reference point, so give the exact resort name in the web booker and it returns the fixed, all-in Disney price before you pay.
Side by side: MCO to the Disney resorts
| Option | Price basis | What a family of five pays | Waiting and pickup | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shared shuttle | per person, US$23/US$37 airport estimate; Mears Connect US$13 to US$16 one way | five fares, plus any surcharge | queue at Level 1, stops at other hotels | Solo travellers, couples, tight budgets |
| Taxi | metered, US$52 to US$68 airport estimate | one meter, up to nine riders | taxi rank, no booking | Small groups, light luggage, mid-day arrivals |
| App ride | varies with demand | one fare, if the car fits everyone | arrivals curb, car seats not guaranteed | Flexible travellers, no children |
| Rental car | daily rate, fuel, tolls, parking | all of the above for the whole stay | rental counter and shuttle | Visitors leaving Disney on several days |
| Elly8.net private car | fixed per vehicle, all-in | one fixed price, seats included on request | chauffeur inside arrivals, name board | Families, late flights, groups with bags |
The honest reading: if you are one or two people with carry-ons, the shuttle or a taxi will save money. The private car wins when the flight lands late, when there are small children who need seats, when six people and eight bags would need two taxis, or when you simply want the first hour of the holiday to be calm.
A chauffeured plan for a Disney trip
Arrival day
- Book with your flight number and resort name. The chauffeur tracks the flight, so a delay changes the pickup, not the price. Complimentary waiting after a tracked landing is included.
- Say how many children and which seats. Rear-facing, forward-facing or booster; the seats are fitted before the car reaches MCO.
- Choose the vehicle by bags, not just heads. A Business SUV carries six passengers and six bags. A family of five with strollers and park luggage is often happier in a Sprinter, which carries twelve and twelve.
- Add a stop if you need one. A grocery or pharmacy stop on the way to a villa is a multi-stop booking; ask for it at booking so the price covers it.
Park days
Many families staying on property use their resort's own guest transportation between parks, and that is a sensible choice. A chauffeur by the hour earns its place on the days that do not fit the bus: a dinner reservation away from your resort, a day split between Disney and Universal Orlando, or a late park exit with tired children. Our hourly chauffeur rate in Orlando is US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan, US$120 in a Business SUV and US$190 in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. A full-day chauffeur, eight hours, is US$700 in a Business Sedan, US$885 in a Business SUV and US$1,400 in an Executive Sprinter.
A day outside the parks
The signature day trip from Orlando is the Kennedy Space Center on the Space Coast: eight hours with the chauffeur waiting, US$700 in a Business Sedan to US$1,400 in an Executive Sprinter. For a cruise after Disney, the cruise port transfers service quotes the resort-to-Port Canaveral run in the booker.
Departure day
Book the return when you book the arrival so the car is held. Most travellers aim to reach MCO about two hours before a domestic flight, so work back from that and allow for traffic on the route to the airport. Tell the desk your airline: MCO has Terminals A, B and C, and the chauffeur drops you at the right departures curb. If your stay ends at a hotel near International Drive, the published round trip from MCO is US$295 in a Business Sedan.

Shuttle or private car: a quick decision guide
- Choose the shuttle if you are travelling light, alone or as a couple, and the per-person fare beats a vehicle price for your group.
- Choose a taxi if you are two to four adults with normal bags, arriving in daylight, and happy to pay the meter.
- Choose a rental car if you will drive to the coast, Tampa or Kennedy on your own several times during the stay.
- Choose a private car if you have children who need seats, a late or unpredictable flight, more bags than a taxi trunk holds, or a fixed budget you want settled before you fly.
Our chauffeur vs shared airport shuttle guide expands on that list, and the airport transfers page explains the meeting routine at each terminal. If Disney is one stop on a longer Florida trip, we also publish fixed prices for Tampa car service and Jacksonville. Families planning a celebration during the stay can read our Orlando party bus guide.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from MCO to Disney World?
Our published Orlando reference route, MCO to International Drive, starts at US$155 in a Business Sedan and US$205 in a Business SUV. Disney resorts are farther from the airport, so enter your exact resort in the web booker for the fixed, all-in Disney price. It is per vehicle and includes taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet.
Is the shuttle or a taxi cheaper than a private car to Disney?
Often, yes. The airport's rate table lists shared shuttles to the Disney resorts area at US$23/US$37 per person and taxis at about US$52 to US$68 on the meter. For one to four travellers with light bags those are good value. A private car makes more sense for families with seats, big groups or late arrivals.
Can I get car seats for a Disney transfer?
Yes, on request. Tell us how many children are travelling and the seat type or ages when you book, and the seats are fitted before pickup. This is one of the main reasons families choose a pre-booked car over an app ride from MCO, where seats are not guaranteed.
How long does it take to get from MCO to Magic Kingdom?
About 25 miles (40 km) and roughly 40 minutes on a clear road, according to routing estimates. Traffic on I-4, holiday crowds and summer storms can add time. Hotels near Disney Springs are closer, about 19 miles (30 km) and a little over half an hour.
Do you pick up from Orlando Sanford for Disney?
Yes. Sanford (SFB) is about 50 miles (80 km) from the Magic Kingdom area, around 70 minutes on a clear road. Our published SFB to International Drive fare is US$275 in a Business Sedan and US$715 in an Executive Sprinter; enter your Disney resort in the web booker for the exact price.
What if my flight to Orlando is delayed?
Your chauffeur tracks the flight and adjusts to the actual landing time, and you get complimentary waiting after a tracked landing. A delay does not change the fixed price. Waiting beyond the included time, for example a long stop before meeting the driver, is billed at cost.
