Montreal to Tremblant is a drive of roughly two hours north into the Laurentians, and with a private car the question is less how to get there than how to spend the day. From Montreal-Trudeau airport (YUL) the run to the Tremblant pedestrian village is about 134 km (83 mi) and 1 hour 52 minutes on a clear road, at a fixed Elly8.net fare from US$350 in a Business Sedan. Starting from downtown Montreal, the route follows the same motorway north, and a downtown pickup is priced in the web booker.
For a day on the mountain and back the same evening, Elly8.net's signature Montreal package is a ten-hour Mont-Tremblant day trip with the car waiting, from US$1,015 in a Business Sedan, US$1,290 in a Business SUV and US$2,025 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle and all-in. This guide covers when to leave, where to stop, how long to allow and when a chauffeur beats the alternatives.
How long does it take to get from Montreal to Tremblant?
Allow about two hours in clear conditions. The airport run is 134 km (83 mi), about 1 hour 52 minutes; a downtown start uses the same Autoroute 15 route north. Friday afternoons in ski season, holiday weekends and fresh snow add time. Leaving the city before the afternoon rush is the single best way to keep the drive short.
The route is straightforward. The car leaves the island of Montreal and heads north on Autoroute 15, past Saint-Jerome, where the motorway gives way to Route 117 through the Laurentian valleys to the resort. The motorway section is fast outside rush hours. The slower sections are the bridges off the island at the afternoon peak and the two-lane stretches nearer Tremblant after a snowfall.
Winter is the main variable. The Government of Quebec requires Quebec-registered vehicles, rentals included, to be winter-ready from December 1 to March 15, and partner vehicles on this route are equipped for the season. The chauffeur drives to the conditions, and the desk keeps you informed if timing changes.

A one-way pickup from a downtown hotel, Old Montreal or a home address is quoted in the web booker. The day trip and hourly rates are listed on our Montreal car service fares panel and the Tremblant page respectively.
When to leave Montreal
Timing decides how the day feels. These are the departure windows the desk recommends.
For a ski day trip, leave early. A 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. pickup downtown puts you at the base around the time the lifts are turning, with a full day ahead. Tremblant's 2026-27 ski season is scheduled from November 26, 2026 to April 18, 2027, according to the resort's opening hours page; check the lift hours for your date before setting the pickup.
For a weekend stay, avoid Friday from mid-afternoon. In ski season much of Montreal heads north at the end of the working week. Leaving before lunch or after the evening peak saves real time.
For a summer day, leave mid-morning. Golf tee times, lake activities and lunch in the village do not need a dawn start, and the motorway is quieter after the commuter rush.
For the return, decide by the evening, not the clock. On a day trip the chauffeur waits all day, so the return is whenever you are ready within the ten hours. Dinner in the village before heading back puts you in Montreal late in the evening with the traffic long gone.
A sample ski day, hour by hour
This is how a typical winter day trip on the ten-hour package runs for a family or a small group starting downtown. Every timing is adjustable; it is simply a realistic shape for the day.
- 7:15 a.m. Pickup at the hotel or home address. Skis and boots go in the back of the Business SUV or Sprinter; child seats are already fitted.
- 7:30 to 9:15 a.m. Off the island before the worst of the inbound commute, north on Autoroute 15 and Route 117. A short coffee stop on the way is easy to add.
- 9:15 a.m. Drop-off as close to the base of the slopes as the village layout allows, with the chauffeur helping carry gear.
- 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Skiing. The chauffeur waits nearby and is a message away if a non-skier wants to go to a spa or into town for a couple of hours.
- 4:00 p.m. Boots off, an early dinner in the pedestrian village, or straight to the car while the light lasts.
- 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The drive south, with the group asleep rather than someone at the wheel after six hours on the mountain.
The ten hours run from pickup, so a later start means a later return. If you need longer, tell the desk at booking and the extra time is quoted.
Stops worth making on the way
The joy of a private car on this route is that the Laurentians are not just scenery through a window. A few stops are easy to add without turning the trip into a marathon. Tell the desk when you book so the timing is built in, and note that a long stop on a one-way transfer is better booked by the hour.
The Valley of Saint-Sauveur. About halfway, just off the motorway, the valley is the first big cluster of ski hills north of the city. Laurentides tourism notes it has the largest number of lighted ski resorts in eastern North America, along with shops, restaurants and, in summer, water slides. It is the classic coffee-and-browse stop, or a night-skiing alternative if Tremblant is too far for an evening.
Le P'tit Train du Nord. The linear park follows an old railway line through the region; Laurentides tourism describes it as spanning 234 km from Bois-des-Filion to Mont-Laurier, used for cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing. In summer, a chauffeur can drop cyclists at one point on the trail and collect them further north, which a rental car cannot do.
A grocery stop before Tremblant. If you are staying in a condo or chalet, a stop for supplies before the final stretch saves a second trip. A Business SUV or Sprinter has the space for bags and bags of groceries alongside the luggage.
What to do once you arrive
A day at Tremblant can be very different depending on the season and the group.
Winter. Skiing and snowboarding are the obvious draw, with the gondola rising from the edge of the pedestrian village. Non-skiers spend the day in the village itself, at a spa, or on snowshoe trails. The chauffeur waits, so a non-skier can be taken somewhere else for part of the day and returned in time for the drive home.
Summer and autumn. Golf, the beach and boats on Lac Tremblant, mountain biking, and walks in Mont-Tremblant National Park, one of the region's main outdoor attractions. Autumn colours bring their own crowds on October weekends. IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, usually held in June, fills the village with athletes and closes roads on race day, so plan a visit for the days either side.
Evenings. The pedestrian village has restaurants and bars, and the Casino de Mont-Tremblant is one of the area's evening attractions. Chauffeurs follow local rules on alcohol in the vehicle, which is one more reason the driver, not a member of the group, should take the wheel home.
For a sightseeing day rather than a sports day, the private highlights tour, from US$440 in a Business Sedan to US$880 in an Executive Sprinter, covers lookouts, lakes and villages with the car waiting at each stop. See private city tours.
Private car vs rental, coach and shuttle
| Option | Cost basis | From where | Strengths | Weak spots |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elly8.net day trip | US$1,015 to US$2,025 per vehicle, 10 hours | Your Montreal address | Door to door, car waits all day, no driving after skiing | More than a coach seat for one person |
| Elly8.net one-way transfer | From US$350 per vehicle from YUL | Airport, or any address in the web booker | Fixed price, flight tracked | You need a plan for the return |
| Rental car | Daily rate plus fuel and parking | Rental counter | Freedom for a long stay | Winter driving, parking, you drive home tired |
| Intercity coach | Per person | Downtown Montreal | Cheapest for one traveller | Fixed timetable, carry your own bags |
| Seasonal YUL shuttle | Per person, set days | Airport only | Simple for solo arrivals | Winter only, timetable risk |
The coach and the shuttle are listed by the resort on its ground transportation page. Be fair to them: one person with a backpack and no fixed schedule will spend less on a coach seat than on any private car. The private car wins when the group is three or more, when there are children, skis and boots to carry, when the day includes stops, or when nobody wants to drive two hours home after a day on the mountain. Our Tremblant shuttle comparison runs the group-size numbers, and chauffeur vs car rental covers the rental question in general.
Choosing the vehicle
The fleet guide lists a Business Sedan at three passengers and two bags, a Business SUV or Van at six and six, and an Executive Sprinter at twelve and twelve. For a ski day trip, count skis and boots as bags. A couple with skis fits a sedan; a family of four with gear wants the SUV; a group of eight or more is a Sprinter. The fleet page shows every class, and child seats are available on request.
For a corporate group heading up for a retreat, several Sprinters can leave together from a downtown office or be timed to flights at YUL, and a corporate account gives monthly invoicing. See city to city car service for longer one-way runs such as Montreal to Tremblant and on to Ottawa.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Tremblant from Montreal?
From Montreal-Trudeau airport, the pedestrian village is about 134 km (83 mi), roughly 1 hour 52 minutes on a clear road. A downtown start follows the same Autoroute 15 route north. Allow extra time on Friday afternoons in ski season, holiday weekends and after snowfall.
How much is a private car from Montreal to Tremblant?
From YUL it is a fixed US$350 in a Business Sedan, US$455 in a Business SUV and US$910 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle. A ten-hour day trip from Montreal with the car waiting starts at US$1,015. A one-way pickup from a downtown address is priced in the web booker.
Can the driver wait while we ski?
Yes, on the ten-hour day trip package. The chauffeur drives you up in the morning, waits through the day and drives you back in the evening. For a different schedule, hourly service at Tremblant starts at US$110 an hour in a Business Sedan with a 3-hour minimum.
Is it worth stopping at Saint-Sauveur?
It is the easiest stop on the way, just off the motorway, with shops, restaurants and ski hills; Laurentides tourism notes the valley has the largest number of lighted ski resorts in eastern North America. Add it when you book so the desk builds the time into the day.
Is the coach cheaper than a private car?
For one traveller, yes. Tremblant lists intercity coach service from downtown Montreal, priced per person. For three or more people with skis, or anyone who wants a door-to-door trip and a driver for the return, a private car is usually the better value.
What vehicle suits a family ski trip?
A Business SUV or Van, which seats six with room for six bags per the fleet guide, at US$455 one way from YUL. Child seats are fitted on request. Larger groups with skis and boots fit an Executive Sprinter, which takes twelve passengers and twelve bags.
