A safe Denver prom limo booking comes down to a few things a parent can settle in one evening: a licensed, commercially insured operator, a belted seat for every student, a written timetable with every address on it, one adult as the contact, and a price that is fixed before anyone pays. If those five are in place, almost nothing that goes wrong on prom night becomes a crisis.
With Elly8.net, most Denver prom groups book the Evening out and event night package: five hours with one vehicle and one chauffeur, from US$475 in a Business Sedan for up to three students, US$600 in a Business SUV for up to six, and US$950 in an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve. The price is per vehicle and all-in. Stretch limousines and party buses are quoted for your date in the web booker.
Why do Denver parents book a prom limo instead of letting teens drive?
In Colorado, a newly licensed driver under 18 may carry no passengers under 21 for six months, then only one until the licence is a year old, and may not drive between midnight and 5 a.m. in that first year. A prom group breaks those rules, so a chauffeured car keeps everyone together legally.
Those rules come from Colorado's Graduated Driver Licensing law, and the Colorado Department of Transportation sets them out in its teen driver resources, including a parent and teen driving contract. Prom nights run late, they involve a car full of friends, and the after-party usually ends well after midnight. Even a careful 17-year-old with a new licence cannot legally do the job.
There is also the geography. Many Denver proms are held at a downtown hotel, a museum or an event space some distance from the school, and the after-party may be in a different suburb again. A night that starts in Highlands Ranch, stops for photos in LoDo and ends in Lakewood covers a lot of road in the dark.
Step 1: one parent books, one parent backs up
Before anybody compares vehicles, agree which parent is the organiser. That parent makes the booking, holds the confirmation email, shares the timetable with the other families and is the person our 24/7 desk or the chauffeur calls if anything changes. Name a second parent as the backup who will answer the phone on the night.
It sounds like admin, but it prevents the most common prom-night muddle: six families each messaging a different pickup time. One contact means one plan, and one plan is what the chauffeur drives to.
Step 2: get a firm head count, then choose the vehicle
Prom groups grow. Eight becomes eleven a fortnight before the dance, and a vehicle booked for eight cannot safely take eleven. Lock the list, allow for one late addition, and book for the final number. Every passenger needs a seat with a belt; nobody sits on a lap or on the floor.
| Students | Vehicle | Seats | 5-hour Evening out and event night (Denver) | Per student, full car |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 3 | Business Sedan | up to 3 | US$475 | about US$158 for 3 |
| 2 to 3, dressier | First Class Sedan | up to 3 | US$775 | about US$258 for 3 |
| 4 to 6 | Business SUV | up to 6 | US$600 | US$100 for 6 |
| 4 to 6, dressier | First Class SUV | up to 6 | US$725 | about US$121 for 6 |
| 7 to 12 | Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | US$950 | about US$79 for 12 |
| up to 8 | Stretch limousine | up to 8 | quoted in the web booker | depends on date |
| up to 16 | Stretch SUV limousine | up to 16 | quoted in the web booker | depends on date |
The table shows why bigger groups often choose the Sprinter: it is the most expensive vehicle and the cheapest per student. A classic stretch limousine is the photo everyone wants, and it is available, but stretch availability on the busiest Saturdays in spring is tighter, so ask early. The fleet page lists seats and luggage space for every class, and our prom limousine page covers prom bookings in every Elly8.net city.
Step 3: settle the money before anyone pays
Fixed, all-in pricing makes the money conversation simple. The Denver evening package includes the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes and the standard gratuity, so there is no tip to collect at midnight. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost, which on a normal prom night inside the metro area is usually nothing at all.
Agree three things in writing between the families:
- Who pays the card. One parent books and pays; the others send their share before the booking is made, not after the dance.
- How the cost splits. By student is simplest. Decide what happens if a student drops out late.
- The cancellation terms. Free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10% at 72 hours or less; 50% at 48 hours or less; 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds go to the original card. The full wording is on our cancellation policy page.
If the night will run longer than five hours, the hourly chauffeur rate in Denver is from US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan to US$190 an hour in an Executive Sprinter, with a 3-hour minimum. Our post on what Phoenix limo prices include walks through how minimums, gratuity and extras are built into a quote, and the same structure applies in Denver.
Step 4: check who is actually driving
Ask any company you are considering who operates the car, and whether that operator is licensed and commercially insured. With Elly8.net the answer is fixed: rides in Denver are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Partner vehicles are four model years old or newer.
Elly8.net is a member of LimousineWorldwide.Directory and LimousineAssociation.International, the network the chauffeur partners are vetted through. Before the night, the confirmation email gives you the booking details, and the chauffeur's details arrive before pickup.
A quick sense check for any quote, ours included: if the price changes after you have paid, if nobody can tell you who owns the vehicle, or if the company suggests packing more students in than there are belts, walk away.
Step 5: write the plan down
The written plan is the single most useful thing a parent can produce. It should fit on one page and go to every family, the students and, through the booking, the chauffeur.
- First pickup: time and full address, with a parking note if the street is tight.
- Further pickups: in route order, with a realistic gap between each. In the suburbs, allow ten to fifteen minutes between houses.
- Photo stop: where, and for how long. Denver's downtown has striking backdrops, including the restored Union Station, but crowds on a Saturday evening are real, so keep it to twenty minutes.
- Dinner: restaurant name, address and reservation time.
- The dance: venue name and address, the drop-off door and the agreed pickup point afterwards.
- After-party or home: one final address, or the drop-off order.
- Contacts: the organising parent, the backup parent and the Elly8.net confirmation number.
Give the chauffeur the plan through the booking and keep a copy on your phone. The chauffeur follows the route you set and will call the organising parent, not the students, about any change.
Step 6: the house rules for the students
Agree the rules with the students before the night, in front of the other parents, so nobody is surprised. The obvious one first: Colorado's legal drinking age is 21, and the chauffeur follows Colorado's rules on conduct and alcohol in the vehicle. There is no alcohol in the car, and the organising parent is the one the chauffeur calls if there is a problem.
Other sensible rules: seat belts stay on while the car is moving; nobody stands up through a sunroof; only the students on the list ride; the plan changes only through the organising parent; and everyone is at the pickup point at the agreed time. Students respond better to rules they helped write, so let them suggest the details.
Step 7: Denver weather, distance and timing
Two Denver-specific points catch families out. The first is distance. The metro area is wide, and a night that crosses it can eat most of a five-hour package in driving. Map the route before you book, and if the after-party is far from the dance, consider booking extra hours by the hour rather than squeezing the plan.
The second is spring weather. Prom season falls in spring, and spring storms along the Front Range can change road conditions quickly. Our chauffeurs are used to it, but on a stormy evening the timetable needs slack: add fifteen minutes to every leg and move the photo stop indoors. If anyone is heading into the foothills or the mountains afterwards, the CDOT Traction Law applies on I-70 from Morrison to Dotsero until May 31, which is one more reason the students should not be driving.
A timeline for prom season
- Eight to ten weeks before: agree the group and the organising parent. Ask the school for the venue and the dance times.
- Six weeks before: fix the head count, choose the vehicle and book. Stretch limousines and Sprinters go first on popular Saturdays.
- Two weeks before: collect money from the families, write the plan and send it round.
- 72 hours before: last chance to cancel free of charge. Confirm the final names and addresses.
- The day before: re-send the plan, check the weather and confirm the contact numbers.
- On the night: the organising parent keeps the phone on until the last student is home.
Why not rideshare for prom?
Rideshare is a fine way to get one adult across town. For prom it falls short. Several cars mean the group splits up, there is no single adult-accountable plan, prices move with demand on a busy Saturday, and an app ride will not wait outside the venue for three hours. Our chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft comparison explains the trade-offs in more detail.
A pre-booked car keeps the group together, waits at an agreed point, follows a written plan, and costs a number everyone knew in advance.
Other Denver nights the same checklist works for
Homecoming, graduation dinners, a quinceañera or a sweet-sixteen evening all follow the same logic: a head count, a fixed price, a written plan and one adult in charge. For a bigger celebration with guests moving between venues, our group transportation and Sprinter van with driver pages explain how loops are planned, and our guide to Phoenix Sprinter van rental shows how a 12-seat van fits a group night. A Red Rocks concert for older students is its own case, because the amphitheatre has specific drop-off and pickup lots; the Denver car service page covers those rules.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a prom limo in Denver?
The five-hour Evening out and event night package runs from US$475 in a Business Sedan for up to three students, US$600 in a Business SUV for up to six and US$950 in an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve. Prices are per vehicle and all-in, with taxes and standard gratuity. Stretch limousines are quoted for your date in the web booker.
Can a newly licensed teen drive friends to prom in Colorado?
Not legally in most cases. Under Colorado's Graduated Driver Licensing rules, a driver under 18 may carry no passengers under 21 for the first six months, only one for the rest of the first year, and may not drive between midnight and 5 a.m. in that first year. A chauffeured car avoids the problem.
How early should we book a prom car in Denver?
Six weeks ahead is a good target, and earlier for a stretch limousine or a Sprinter on a busy spring Saturday, when several schools hold their dances on the same night. Booking early also gives families time to collect money and settle names before the 72-hour free cancellation window closes.
Is the tip included?
Yes. Elly8.net prices include the standard gratuity, taxes, the chauffeur and the vehicle, so nobody needs to collect cash for a tip at the end of the night. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. On a normal prom night inside the metro area, those extras are usually zero.
What if the dance runs late?
Tell the desk as early as possible. If the night runs past the five hours, extra time is charged at the hourly rate, from US$95 an hour in a Business Sedan. Building a little slack into the plan when you book is cheaper than extending on the night.
What are the rules about alcohol in the car?
There is no alcohol. Colorado's legal drinking age is 21, and the chauffeur follows Colorado's rules on conduct and alcohol in the vehicle. Agree this with the students in advance, in front of the other parents, and make sure the organising parent can be reached all evening.
