You can take an Uber or a Bolt from Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). Both apps operate in Portugal as licensed TVDE platforms, and the app sends you to the designated rideshare pickup point once you request a car. The fare is the platform's price at that moment and rises when many passengers land together, which at Lisbon means the morning wave of transatlantic arrivals.
Since 15 October 2026 the airport taxi rank has become a strong alternative: trips from the arrivals rank into Lisbon now run at fixed prices by zone, from €16 by day for up to four people. A pre-booked Elly8.net car costs more, from US$90 per vehicle to Avenida da Liberdade, but the chauffeur is already tracking your flight and waiting in arrivals with your name. This guide explains all three, honestly.
Can you get an Uber from Lisbon airport?
Yes. Uber and Bolt both pick up at Lisbon airport as licensed TVDE services, at the designated pickup point the app shows you. Prices vary with demand and are only visible in the app. The airport taxi rank now charges fixed prices into Lisbon, and a pre-booked Elly8.net transfer is fixed in US dollars before you fly.
Rideshare at LIS works well for one or two travellers with light bags who land at a quiet hour. It is less comfortable for a family with four large cases after an overnight flight, for a group that would need two cars, or for anyone arriving at a peak when the app shows long waits and higher prices. The sections below follow the order in which an arrival actually unfolds.
Before you open the app: passport control and bags
Most North American travellers land at Terminal 1, the main building used by TAP Air Portugal and the transatlantic flights. Terminal 2 is a smaller building used by several low-cost carriers, linked to Terminal 1 by a free shuttle bus. Your boarding pass or airline app tells you which.
Flights from the United States and Canada arrive at Lisbon from outside the Schengen area, so passport control happens here. Since 10 April 2026 the European Union's Entry/Exit System has been fully operational: instead of a passport stamp, non-EU visitors are registered with their travel document data, fingerprints and a facial image. A first entry under the system takes longer than a familiar stamp, and when several wide-body flights land together the non-Schengen hall at Terminal 1 can be slow.
If you connect through another Schengen airport such as Madrid, Paris or Frankfurt, the order changes: you clear passport control at the connecting hub and arrive in Lisbon on what is effectively a domestic flight, so the walk from the gate to the exit is quicker. Give the final flight number when you book a car, not the transatlantic one, because that is the landing the driver needs to follow.
The practical lesson for rideshare users is simple: do not request a car until you are through passport control and have your bags. A driver who arrives early waits only so long, and a cancellation can leave you back at the end of the queue. A pre-booked chauffeur works the other way round: the driver follows the tracked landing time and waits after it, and that waiting is complimentary.
Where rideshare picks up at LIS
TVDE cars do not use the taxi rank. When you request a ride, the app directs you to the airport's designated rideshare pickup point and shows the walking route; follow the app and the terminal signs rather than walking out to the first kerb you see. Check the plate and the driver's name in the app before loading bags. Portugal's transport institute, the IMT, licenses TVDE operators, certifies the drivers and identifies the vehicles, and it now cross-checks that data with Uber and Bolt.
Two practical points. If you landed at Terminal 2, confirm in the app which terminal you are collecting from before you request. And if your group plus luggage will not fit in a standard car, request a larger category from the start; re-requesting after the first car arrives costs time.
How surge pricing behaves at Lisbon airport
Rideshare platforms use dynamic pricing: when requests outnumber available drivers, prices rise and waiting times lengthen. Nobody publishes the multiplier in advance, so we do not quote one. What you can predict is when it tends to happen at LIS:
- The morning transatlantic wave, when flights from North America and Brazil land close together and thousands of passengers reach the exits within an hour or two.
- Late evening, when the last banks of European flights arrive and some public transport is winding down; the metro station at the airport is open from 06:30 to 01:00, according to Metro Lisboa.
- Big event weeks, above all Web Summit, which runs from 9 to 12 November 2026 in Parque das Nações, a few kilometres from the airport.
- Rain, which lifts demand for cars everywhere in the city.
The app shows the price before you confirm, so you are never surprised after the ride. The issue is planning: the number you saw at home when you checked the app is not the number you will see when you land.
The airport taxi rank changed in October 2026
The biggest recent change at LIS is not in the apps but at the taxi rank. A cooperation and self-regulation protocol for taxis at Humberto Delgado Airport took effect on 15 October 2026, as published by the national taxi association ANTRAL. Trips that start at the arrivals rank into the city of Lisbon now have a fixed price by zone (the protocol calls them crowns), by time of day and by number of passengers. Drivers may not refuse a trip, must accept vouchers and electronic payment, and may not add supplements or change the price according to how you pay.
| From the LIS arrivals rank | Day (weekdays 7h-22h) | Night, weekends and holidays | More than 4 passengers, day / night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crown 1: Parque das Nações, Olivais, Alvalade, Avenidas Novas, Areeiro, Lumiar and neighbouring parishes | €16 | €20 | €20 / €24 |
| Crown 2: Santo António (Avenida da Liberdade), Santa Maria Maior (Baixa, Alfama), Misericórdia (Chiado, Bairro Alto), Estrela, Belém and the rest of the west | €19 | €23 | €23 / €28 |
| Sintra, Cascais or Estoril (voucher price, up to 4, luggage and tolls included) | €53.40 | €64.00 | Not published |
| Elly8.net, LIS to Avenida da Liberdade, per vehicle | US$90 business sedan | US$90 | US$235 Executive Sprinter, up to 12 passengers |
Fairly put, the fixed rank price is excellent value for up to four people with normal luggage, and it removes the old worry about the meter on the first ride of a trip. ANTRAL has also announced that an access barrier at the taxi rank comes into operation on 3 November 2026; the protocol ties access to the rank to driver accreditation. For destinations outside Lisbon that are not on the published voucher table, the taxi runs on the meter.
Uber, taxi or pre-booked: the fair verdict
Take the taxi rank if you are one to four people with standard bags, staying in Lisbon, and comfortable queueing at the rank after passport control. The fixed price is the lowest predictable fare in this guide.
Use rideshare if you prefer the app experience, are travelling light and land at a quiet time of day. The price may be close to the rank price or higher, depending on demand.
Ride the metro if you are alone with a carry-on and staying near a station; our guide to Lisbon airport to the city centre compares the Red line with a driver district by district.
Book a chauffeur when the arrival itself is the hard part: a family with child seats, five or more travellers, more bags than a taxi boot holds, a hotel in Alfama or Príncipe Real where the drop-off needs planning, a business meeting the same morning, or a landing during Web Summit week. The car class matches the luggage: a Business Sedan takes 3 passengers and 2 bags, a Business SUV or First Class SUV 6 and 6, and an Executive Sprinter 12 and 12. See the fleet for each class.

How the pre-booked alternative works at LIS
The pre-booked transfer is built around the moments that go wrong with an app. You give the flight number when you book, so the chauffeur follows the actual landing rather than the timetable. The chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall of the right terminal with a name board, which matters when passport control takes longer than expected; waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. Then the walk is to a car that is already there, sized for your bags.
Prices are fixed, all-in and per vehicle: from US$90 in a business sedan to Avenida da Liberdade, US$120 in a business SUV, US$160 in a First Class Sedan, US$145 in a First Class SUV and US$235 in an Executive Sprinter. A round trip costs from US$175. The price includes the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and meet and greet in arrivals; tolls and parking are billed at cost. The same fixed fare applies in the other direction, from the hotel to the airport. Read more on airport transfers and meet and greet.
Rides in Lisbon are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. If your flight is cancelled or diverted, message the desk and the booking moves.
Going back to the airport
Rideshare to departures is usually straightforward, but the same peaks apply in reverse, and Web Summit week makes every car scarce in the afternoons. A taxi from a city rank to the airport runs on the meter under the 2026 tariff, not the fixed airport price, which applies to trips that start at the airport rank.
With a pre-booked car, the desk suggests a pickup time from your hotel. Allow for the drive at that hour, airline check-in and security, and the exit registration that the Entry/Exit System records when you leave the Schengen area. Booking the departure together with the arrival fixes both fares at once.
Many travellers continue from Lisbon to Porto or into Spain. A one-way drive can be quoted in the web booker through city to city car service, and the Porto and Seville pages carry their own airport fares. Travel planners can book on account through travel agent accounts. For flights and hotels, our travel partner is BookingWorldwide.net; Elly8.net books the car only. Frequently asked questions
Where do I get an Uber at Lisbon airport?
After passport control and baggage claim, request the ride in the app and follow its directions and the terminal signs to the designated rideshare pickup point. TVDE cars do not use the taxi rank. Check the plate and driver name in the app before loading your bags, and confirm the terminal if you landed at Terminal 2.
How much is a taxi from Lisbon airport to the city centre?
Since 15 October 2026, the arrivals rank charges fixed prices into Lisbon: €16 or €19 by day on weekdays, depending on the zone, and €20 or €23 at night, at weekends and on holidays, for up to four passengers. Avenida da Liberdade, the Baixa and Chiado are in the €19 daytime zone.
Is Uber more expensive than a taxi from Lisbon airport?
It can be. Rideshare prices change with demand and are only shown in the app, while the airport rank now charges fixed prices into Lisbon. At quiet times the two may be similar; during the morning transatlantic wave or Web Summit week, the app price is more likely to rise.
Does the Elly8.net chauffeur wait if passport control is slow?
Yes. The chauffeur follows the tracked landing time and waits in arrivals with a name board, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary. That covers a slow non-Schengen passport hall and the first registration under the Entry/Exit System, so there is no need to rush through the terminal.
Can I book a car seat with a rideshare or taxi in Lisbon?
Rideshare and taxis generally cannot guarantee child seats on demand. With Elly8.net, ask for child or booster seats when you book and give the children's ages; the partner fits them before pickup. A Business SUV gives a family room for seats and transatlantic luggage.
What is the cancellation policy for a pre-booked transfer?
Free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10% at 72 hours or less; 50% at 48 hours or less; 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Refunds go to the original card. See the cancellation policy page for the full terms.
