The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Austrian Grand Prix 2027 takes place from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 July 2027 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, round 11 of the season on the Formula 1 calendar. The 4.326 km circuit sits in a natural bowl in the Styrian mountains, and it first held a Grand Prix in 1970, as the earlier Österreichring. The circuit calls it the Holiday Grand Prix: a race weekend in the countryside rather than in a city.
The challenge is distance. The Red Bull Ring is about 194 km (120 mi) from central Vienna by road, a little over two hours on a clear road, and about 87 km (54 mi) from Graz Airport. Elly8.net books the long-distance part of the weekend: a chauffeur at Vienna International Airport, the drive into Styria, race-day runs to the circuit from your hotel, and the drive back to Vienna or the airport after the race. Prices are fixed, all-in and charged in US dollars.
How do you get to the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix?
Most international fans fly into Vienna, about 205 km (127 mi) from the circuit by road, or into Graz, about 87 km (54 mi) away. From Vienna the route follows the A2 towards Graz, the S6 and the S36 to the Zeltweg Ost/Spielberg exit. A pre-booked chauffeur drives it at a fixed price quoted through the web booker.
The Red Bull Ring's arrival page gives the route from Vienna and eastern Austria: the A2 towards Graz, then the S6 towards Bruck an der Mur, Semmering and Neunkirchen West, and at the St. Michael junction the S36 towards Klagenfurt, Knittelfeld and Judenburg, leaving at Zeltweg Ost/Spielberg and following the signs to the track. From Graz, the circuit's route takes the A9 towards Salzburg through the Gleinalm tunnel, a toll tunnel, to the same junction.
The circuit says that getting there is usually smooth for most of the year, but that major events bring heavier traffic and longer journeys, and that special traffic and parking plans are in place for Formula 1. On a Grand Prix weekend the last kilometres to the track are where time goes. A chauffeur who knows the event plan for the year, who drops you where your ticket's access rules allow and who agrees a pickup point for after the race, turns a long day into a manageable one.
Where to base yourself: Vienna, Graz or the Murtal
Vienna. The city has the hotels, the long-haul flights and the evenings. The cost is the drive: around 194 km (120 mi) each way, so a day at the circuit from a Vienna hotel means more than four hours on the road before race-day traffic. It works for guests who want one race day and the rest of the trip in the city.
Graz. Styria's capital is about 87 km (54 mi) from the circuit by road from its airport, a little over an hour on a clear road, with a good choice of hotels. It is a sensible base for all three days.
The Murtal region around Spielberg. The towns closest to the circuit are the shortest daily drive, and the circuit points visitors to gastronomy and hotels in the Murtal region. Rooms go early for race weekend.
Many guests split the trip: land in Vienna, take a one-way transfer to Graz or the Murtal for the race weekend, use a car for the circuit days, then drive back to Vienna or to the airport on Sunday night or Monday. The desk quotes each leg at a fixed price.
| Route | Road distance | Clear-road drive | How it is booked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vienna Airport (VIE) to Innere Stadt | 21 km / 13 mi | about 26 min | Price list, from US$125 |
| Vienna centre to the Red Bull Ring | about 194 km / 120 mi | about 2 h 15 min | Fixed quote in the web booker |
| Vienna Airport (VIE) to the Red Bull Ring | about 205 km / 127 mi | about 2 h 20 min | Fixed quote in the web booker |
| Graz Airport to the Red Bull Ring | about 87 km / 54 mi | about 1 h 7 min | Fixed quote in the web booker |
Road distances to the circuit are routed estimates; race-weekend traffic near the track adds time, and the fixed price does not change with it.
Arriving at Vienna International Airport
Vienna International Airport is the usual long-haul gateway for the race, with connections from North America through the European hubs. Vienna Airport checks in passengers in Terminals 1, 1A and 3. Give us your flight number when you book: the chauffeur tracks the landing and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, which matters on a summer Friday when connections slip.
| VIE to the Innere Stadt | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| One way, 21 km / 13 mi, about 26 min clear | US$125 | US$165 | US$200 | US$220 | US$325 |
| Round trip | US$240 | US$315 | US$380 | US$420 | US$620 |
Prices are per vehicle and include the chauffeur, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost. Austrian motorways are tolled, and the Gleinalm tunnel carries its own toll; on any booking, tolls are billed at cost. See Vienna airport transfers and meet and greet. Guests flying privately can be met at the FBO named in the booking; see private jet and FBO car service.
The race-weekend plan
Friday. Usually the quieter day on the roads, and a good day to arrive at the circuit, find your grandstand or hospitality entrance and settle the pickup point with your chauffeur.
Saturday. Busier, with more fans arriving and staying into the evening. Check the session times on the official sites before you set pickups.
Sunday, race day. The busiest day by far. Leave early, accept that the last stretch to the track will be slow, and agree with the chauffeur whether you leave at the chequered flag or wait for the roads to clear. Waiting out the first rush is often faster overall than joining it.
For a day trip from Vienna, the full-day chauffeur package, eight hours from US$630 in a business sedan, rarely covers a Grand Prix day once the drive both ways and the race are added. The ten-hour corporate roadshow day, from US$765, or a fixed Spielberg quote from the web booker is the realistic booking. For a weekend based near the circuit, ask for a quote covering the transfer in, the circuit runs and the transfer out. See sports event transportation and city-to-city car service.

These are the Vienna rates; journeys to Spielberg are quoted as a fixed price in the web booker. The rates do not change for the Grand Prix, but cars for the race weekend are limited, so reserve now.
Hospitality guests, sponsors and groups
Grand Prix weekends are corporate weekends too. Sponsors and teams bring guests to hospitality, and companies use the race to host clients. An Executive Sprinter keeps a group of guests together from a Vienna or Graz hotel to the circuit and back, and the desk can run a First Class Sedan for a principal alongside it, all on one reference. See group transportation, Sprinter van with driver and corporate car service.
The desk signs NDAs on request and briefs chauffeurs only on approved names and routes. Elly8.net provides transportation, not security. Companies book on a corporate account with monthly invoicing; travel agents and hospitality agencies use travel-agent accounts, and hotels book guests through hotel accounts.
Honest alternatives: driving yourself, trains and shuttles
There are other ways to the race, and for some fans they make sense.
| Option | Cost | Best for | Weak point on race weekend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rental car | Rental plus fuel, tolls and event parking | Fans camping or staying nearby | Event parking plans, long queues, no drinks for the driver |
| Train to the region plus local transport | Fare per person | Budget travellers with light bags | Connections and crowds on Sunday night |
| Elly8.net chauffeur | VIE from US$125; Spielberg by fixed quote | Couples, families, hospitality guests | Book early; long drive each way |
If you rent a car, the vignette and the tunnel tolls are yours to handle: ASFINAG, the motorway operator, sells the digital vignette and tolls online, and the circuit recommends the free ASFINAG app for live traffic information. Vienna's own airport links change during works on the city's main S-Bahn line, so check before relying on rail in the city. A chauffeur is the right choice when you want someone else to handle the long drive, the race-day traffic and the night drive back, and when nobody in the party wants to be the designated driver. See chauffeur vs car rental.
Before and after the race
Vienna itself is worth the extra days. The signature Vienna day trip, eight hours in the Wachau Valley, costs from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter, and the private city highlights tour from US$340. See private city tours.
From Vienna, Elly8.net also covers Budapest, Prague, Munich, Venice, Berlin and Warsaw. More on the city is on our Vienna chauffeur service page. Flights and hotels can be booked with our travel partner BookingWorldwide.net; Elly8.net books the car. Race tickets are sold through the Red Bull Ring and Formula 1.
