TED2027 takes place from March 1 to 4, 2027, in San Diego, at the San Diego Convention Center on the downtown waterfront, according to the official TED2027 page. TED describes San Diego as its new home and promises more time outdoors between sessions, and it counts on more than 1,800 attendees from more than 60 countries, over 80 speakers, and an audience in which half are CEOs and senior executives. That is a small, senior crowd with a full four-day programme, dinners every night and plenty of meetings on the side.
Elly8.net books the ground transport for it at fixed, all-in prices: San Diego International Airport (SAN) to the Gaslamp Quarter, next to the convention center, from US$125 in a business sedan to US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, and a chauffeur by the hour from US$100. Rides in San Diego are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Full details are on our San Diego car service page.
Do you need a car at TED2027?
Inside the conference, no: TED has secured hotel group rates within walking distance of the convention center. You need a car for the SAN or Carlsbad arrival, for dinners in La Jolla or Coronado, for meetings outside downtown and for the departure. Elly8.net fixes SAN to the Gaslamp from US$125 and hourly cars from US$100.
That is the honest answer, and it shapes how most TED guests book with us. A typical attendee needs two fixed transfers, in and out, plus one or two evenings with a car. A speaker, a partner team or an executive with a full schedule of side meetings often wants a car by the hour for each day, so the chauffeur is waiting outside the hall whenever a session ends and the next appointment is across town.
Dates, venue and who comes
TED2027 runs Monday, March 1 to Thursday, March 4, 2027. The conference is held at the San Diego Convention Center, which TED describes as right on the water and in the middle of the city, with a purpose-built TED Theater designed with architect David Rockwell. Attendance is by application, and TED's own figures describe a community of scientists, founders, artists, leaders and executives from more than 60 countries.
For transport planning, three things matter. First, the arrival is concentrated: many guests land on the Sunday and Monday. Second, the evenings matter as much as the days, because a lot of the real conversation happens over dinner. Third, many attendees are senior people who value privacy and punctuality over the cheapest fare. Our conference and trade show transportation service is built around exactly that pattern.
Arriving at SAN, Carlsbad or by private jet
San Diego International (SAN). SAN sits almost in the middle of town, about 3 mi (6 km) and 7 minutes from the Gaslamp Quarter on a clear road along Harbor Drive. It has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and the airport is rebuilding Terminal 1 in phases, so roadways and kerbs can shift while the work goes on. According to the airport's ride services page, app pickups use the Transportation Plazas in front of each terminal. With an Elly8.net airport transfer, the chauffeur tracks your flight and waits inside arrivals with a name board, so you skip the plaza and the queue.
McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ) in Carlsbad. CRQ is about 34 mi (55 km) and 45 minutes north of the Gaslamp on a clear road, and it is popular with private and business aircraft. The fixed fare from CRQ to the Gaslamp runs from US$275 in a business sedan to US$715 in an Executive Sprinter. If you are flying privately, tell us the FBO and tail number; see private jet and FBO car service.
From Los Angeles. Some guests connect through LAX, or come down from meetings in Los Angeles or Orange County. That is a long transfer, priced in the web booker; our Los Angeles car service and Orange County car service pages cover the other end, and city to city car service explains how long drives work.
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Elly8.net price |

| SAN round trip to the Gaslamp | 2 x 3 mi | about 7 min each way | US$240 to US$620, fixed |
| CRQ to the Gaslamp Quarter | about 34 mi / 55 km | about 45 min | US$275 to US$715, fixed |

The plan for TED week
Sunday or Monday: the arrival. Book the SAN transfer with your flight number. The chauffeur meets you at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, loads the bags and drops you at your hotel. If your room is not ready, the desk can arrange a short wait while you leave the bags with the bell desk, then on to registration.
The conference days. TED's hotel blocks are within walking distance, so most guests walk to the convention center in the morning. Where a car earns its keep is in the gaps. A chauffeur by the hour can take you to a lunch meeting in Little Italy, an investor visit in Sorrento Valley or a lab tour in La Jolla, and have you back for the next session. Book three hours or more, and the car waits wherever you need it.
The evenings. The dinners are where people make plans. The evening out and event night package, 5 hours from US$500 in a business sedan to US$1,000 in an Executive Sprinter, covers a dinner in La Jolla or Coronado and the ride home, with the car waiting outside. Hosts running a private dinner for a group can book several vehicles on one reservation, or one Sprinter for the whole table.
Partners, speakers and delegations. Partner teams and speakers' offices often need a car on standby for four days. A full-day chauffeur (8 hours) runs from US$740 to US$1,475, and a corporate roadshow day (10 hours) from US$900 to US$1,800. For several cars over several days, a corporate account gives monthly invoicing and one point of contact. NDAs are available on request, and the chauffeur will use no name on the board if you prefer. Elly8.net is a chauffeur booking service, not a security company.
Thursday: the departure. The closing day ends with a lot of people leaving for SAN at once. Book the return transfer when you book the arrival; the round trip from SAN to the Gaslamp and back is listed from US$240 in a business sedan.
Prices for TED2027
Prices on the San Diego price list do not change for TED. They are per vehicle, fixed and all-in, including the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
- SAN to the Gaslamp Quarter: US$125 in a business sedan, US$165 in a business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter.
- By the hour, as directed (3-hour minimum): from US$100 in a business sedan to US$200 in an Executive Sprinter, with First Class sedans at US$160 an hour.
- Evening out and event night (5 hours): from US$500 to US$1,000.
- Full-day chauffeur (8 hours): from US$740 to US$1,475.
- Corporate roadshow day (10 hours): from US$900 to US$1,800.
Every price is on the San Diego fares panel, and the fleet page shows what each vehicle seats. San Diego is a busy convention city in March, and First Class sedans and SUVs for a conference week go early, so reserve now.
Honest alternatives: walking, the bus, rideshare
Walking. If your hotel is in TED's block near the convention center, you will walk to the sessions, and you should. A car is not needed for a five-minute stroll along the bay.
The airport bus. According to SAN's public transportation page, MTS Route 992 runs every 15 minutes from 4:15 a.m. to midnight between the airport and downtown at the standard MTS fare, and the free San Diego Flyer links the airport to Old Town Transit Center. For one traveller with a carry-on, that is hard to argue with.
Taxis and app rides. For a quick trip at a normal hour, a taxi or an app ride from the Transportation Plaza is reasonable. On the busiest arrival and departure days, and late in the evening from restaurants outside downtown, waits and app prices rise with demand.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins when you land late, when your time is worth more than the fare, when you are hosting guests, when you need a car waiting outside a dinner in La Jolla, and when you want the cost fixed in advance. Our chauffeur vs Uber and Lyft and Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur guides go further.
Staying on in Southern California
TED is a good reason to stay a day longer. The signature San Diego day trip is the Temecula Valley wineries, an 8-hour package from US$740 in a business sedan to US$1,475 in an Executive Sprinter, with the chauffeur driving so nobody in the group has to. The private city highlights tour, from US$400 to US$800, takes in Balboa Park, Old Town, the Coronado Bridge, Point Loma and the La Jolla coast; San Diego's official visitor site is a good place to plan the stops, and our private city tours page explains how the day works. Further afield, we run the same fixed-price service as a Palm Springs car service in the desert and a Las Vegas limo service.
