NRF 2027: Retail's Big Show runs from Sunday 10 to Tuesday 12 January 2027 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, according to the National Retail Federation. NRF describes it as the retail industry's biggest event, bringing more than 41,000 retail professionals to the Javits every year, with exhibitors meeting decision-makers from more than 100 countries. For three days in January, Midtown hotels, the far West Side and the three big airports fill with retail executives, technology vendors and their teams.
Elly8.net books NRF transportation as a plan for the week: an airport chauffeur at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark or Teterboro, a car from your hotel to Javits each morning, and a chauffeur by the hour for the store visits, partner meetings and client dinners that fill the rest of the day. New York prices are fixed and all-in, and the price list does not change for the show.
What is the best way to get to the Javits Center for NRF?
From a nearby Midtown hotel, walking or the 7 train is often fastest. For executives with back-to-back meetings, clients to host, January weather or sample cases, a pre-booked chauffeur is better: it drops you close to the building, waits or returns at a set time, and takes you on to store visits and dinners at a fixed price.
The Javits sits at 655 West 34th Street in Hudson Yards, on the far West Side next to the Hudson River and well away from most of the city's subway lines. The Javits Center's getting-here page says the 7 train stops at 34th Street-Hudson Yards, about a five-minute walk away, one stop west of Times Square and direct from Grand Central. That works well for a single attendee with a badge and a laptop bag.
It works less well when the day includes a breakfast meeting on Park Avenue, two hours on the show floor, a store walk in SoHo and a client dinner in the Flatiron, all in January. That is the day a chauffeur pays for itself.

NRF 2027 at a glance
- Dates. Sunday 10 to Tuesday 12 January 2027, per NRF. NRF also lists additional programmes around the main days, including Commerce Media Saturday, Supply Chain Sunday and AI Monday, so some attendees arrive before the weekend.
- Venue. Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, 655 West 34th Street, New York.
- Scale. More than 41,000 retail industry professionals each year, according to NRF.
- Hotels. NRF's hotel and travel page names onPeak as the official housing provider, says most hotels in the official room block are within walking distance of the Javits, and lists complimentary shuttle service between the non-walking official hotels and the Javits Center.
Retail's Big Show also includes retail store tours and expo tours in its programme. Those are organised by NRF; private store visits for your own team, between show sessions or on the day after, are where a car by the hour comes in.
The West Side in January: what to plan for
During a show of this size, the streets around the Javits carry attendee cars, local Hudson Yards traffic and the trucks that serve the exhibition halls. At opening time and at the close of each show day, the approach avenues slow down sharply.
The Javits Center designates a rideshare drop-off and pickup at 38th Street and 11th Avenue, with event signage and traffic staff directing vehicles on arrival. Your chauffeur follows the same instructions and the directions of traffic personnel, and agrees a meeting point with you before you go in. Rather than waiting at a crowded kerb at 5 pm, you text when you are on your way out and walk to the car.
January adds weather. A cold wind off the Hudson, rain or snow makes a walk to the subway or a wait in an app queue less appealing, and it slows traffic. A pre-booked car with complimentary waiting after a tracked landing, and a chauffeur who leaves early when snow is forecast, takes that out of the plan.
Arriving in New York for NRF
New York has four airports on the price list, each priced to Midtown Manhattan, per vehicle and all-in:
| Airport | Distance to Midtown | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| JFK International (JFK) | 18 mi (29 km), about 29 min clear | US$210 | US$275 | US$370 | US$550 |
| LaGuardia (LGA) | 9 mi (14 km), about 17 min clear | US$145 | US$190 | US$255 | US$380 |
| Newark Liberty (EWR) | 19 mi (31 km), about 34 min clear | US$215 | US$280 | US$380 | US$560 |
| Teterboro (TEB) | 12 mi (20 km), about 25 min clear | US$170 | US$225 | US$300 | US$445 |
Clear-road times are rare in New York; on a weekday afternoon in January, allow much longer from JFK and Newark. The chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you inside arrivals with a name board and waits at no charge after a tracked landing. Newark is often the best airport for a hotel on the West Side or in Hudson Yards, depending on the tunnels; LaGuardia is the closest to Midtown. Round trips start at US$400 from JFK, US$280 from LaGuardia and US$410 from Newark. See JFK airport transfers and meet and greet.
Teterboro is the private aviation airport for Manhattan. Give the desk the tail number and FBO, and the car is staged there; see private jet and FBO car service.
The show-day plan with a chauffeur by the hour
Morning. The chauffeur collects you at your hotel with enough time to reach the Javits before the first session or booth meeting. The desk can stack pickups for colleagues in other hotels into one Executive Sprinter.
Midday. If you are leaving the show floor for a lunch or a store visit, the chauffeur meets you at the agreed point near the building. A typical retail day out of the Javits includes flagships on Fifth Avenue, SoHo and the Meatpacking District, and a chauffeur who waits outside each stop keeps the schedule.
Evening. NRF week is full of vendor dinners, receptions and parties. The evening out and event night package keeps one car for five hours, from US$525 in a business sedan to US$1,050 in an Executive Sprinter. The chauffeur follows local rules on drinks in vehicles.
For a full day of meetings and store visits, the roadshow chauffeur format, ten hours with one car, is often the simplest booking. For shorter windows, book by the hour with a three-hour minimum. Our conference and trade show transportation page explains multi-day plans with standby cars.
Exhibitors, retail teams and delegations
Exhibitors and retail teams often need cars that are not on any shuttle route: a First Class sedan for a chief executive, an Executive Sprinter for a team of eight with bags on arrival day, and sedans for sales staff moving between meetings. An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and costs US$210 an hour in New York. The desk keeps every car under one reference and updates the chauffeurs when the agenda changes. See corporate car service and group transportation.
NRF's site has an International Delegations section for groups travelling from outside the United States. Delegations arriving together at JFK or Newark can be met by one Sprinter, or several, with a single manifest. A corporate account puts the week on one monthly invoice with a reference per traveller, and agencies booking for clients can use travel-agent accounts. NDAs are available on request. Elly8.net provides transportation, not security.

Honest alternatives: walking, the NRF shuttle, the subway and taxis
For many attendees, the right answer is not a car. If your hotel is in the official block and within walking distance, walk. If it is further out, NRF's complimentary shuttle from the non-walking official hotels is designed for exactly that trip.
| Option | Cost | Best for | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walking | Free | Hotels in the official block near Hudson Yards | January weather; long avenue blocks |
| NRF hotel shuttle | Complimentary for official non-walking hotels | Attendees in the room block | Fixed routes; no store visits or dinners |
| 7 train to 34 St-Hudson Yards | US$3 subway fare | One traveller, light bag | Crowded at show opening and close |
| Yellow taxi from JFK | US$70 flat to Manhattan, plus surcharges, tolls and tip | One or two travellers, short taxi line | Queues at peak; not waiting for you after the show |
| Rideshare | Dynamic, set by the app | Off-peak hops | Surge at show close; the 38th St and 11th Ave zone fills |
| Elly8.net chauffeur | JFK from US$210; by the hour from US$105 | Executives, hosts, teams, store visits | Book early for show week |
The taxi fare is set by the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission: a US$70 flat fare between JFK and Manhattan, plus the published surcharges, tolls and tip. The AirTrain JFK connects the terminals with the subway and the Long Island Rail Road, which suits a solo traveller with a carry-on. NRF also lists ride offers for attendees from Lyft, a reasonable choice for a quick off-peak hop. A pre-booked chauffeur wins on the days with meetings across town, clients in the car, bags, or weather. For more, see chauffeur vs taxi and Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur.
