HIMSS27, the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition, comes to McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago from Monday, April 5 to Thursday, April 8, 2027, according to the official HIMSS27 site. Monday is preconference day (separate registration), and the conference and exhibition run Tuesday, April 6 to Thursday, April 8. The audience is the business end of healthcare: health-system executives, clinicians, nurses, payers, investors, start-ups, government and international delegations, and the technology companies selling to all of them.
Elly8.net books the ground transport around the show: a chauffeur waiting in baggage claim at O'Hare or Midway, the daily run from your hotel to the right McCormick Place building, and a car kept by the hour for meetings, hosted-buyer appointments and the client dinners that fill every evening of show week. Prices are fixed, all-in and the same during HIMSS27 as in any other week, and the 24/7 desk runs the booking from landing to departure.
How do you get to McCormick Place for HIMSS27?
Fly into O'Hare or Midway and book a fixed transfer to your hotel, then a daily car or an hourly chauffeur to the McCormick Place building your sessions are in. Hotels on the campus can walk; Loop and Magnificent Mile hotels are about 3 mi (5 km) away. The CTA, Metra Electric and taxis are fine for solo trips.
McCormick Place sits on the Near South Side, by the lake south of Museum Campus, and the HIMSS27 hotel block spreads well beyond it, from the Loop and South Loop up to River North and the Magnificent Mile. That is the planning problem in one sentence: a very large crowd needs to cross the same few miles at the same morning hour and leave at the same afternoon hour, from dozens of hotels, in April weather that can be anything from a cold lake wind to rain.
From the Loop, the drive to McCormick Place is about 2.9 mi (4.7 km), around 8 minutes on a clear road. Show mornings are not clear roads. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Michigan Avenue and the streets around Cermak Road carry show traffic, taxis, app rides and hotel shuttles into a campus with several separate buildings and drop-off gates, and closing time on the show floor brings everyone back out together.

The exhibition hours come from the HIMSS27 FAQ; the building addresses from McCormick Place's getting here page. The show closes early on Thursday at 2 p.m., which is why so many attendees book their O'Hare departure that afternoon. Plan that leg before you arrive: departure-day traffic out of the campus and onto the Kennedy is heavy, and a pre-booked car collects your bags from the hotel or meets you at an agreed gate.
The last edition, HIMSS26, was held March 9 to 12, 2026 at the Venetian Convention & Expo Center in Las Vegas, so 2027 brings the show back to Chicago, with the hotel and restaurant demand that comes with it. Hotel booking opened early, and HIMSS itself advises that rooms fill fast.
Arriving at O'Hare or Midway
Most HIMSS27 attendees fly into O'Hare (ORD), about 22 mi (35 km) from the Loop and Magnificent Mile, roughly 56 minutes on a clear road. Midway (MDW) is closer, about 13 mi (21 km) and roughly 28 minutes, and on the south-west side, which puts it nearer McCormick Place: about 11 mi (17 km) by road.
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ORD to the Loop / Magnificent Mile | 22 mi / 35 km | about 56 min | US$215 | US$280 | US$380 | US$560 |
| ORD round trip | same, both ways | about 56 min each way | US$410 | US$535 | US$725 | US$1,065 |
| MDW to the Loop / Magnificent Mile | 13 mi / 21 km | about 28 min | US$160 | US$210 | US$280 | US$420 |
| MDW round trip | same, both ways | about 28 min each way | US$305 | US$400 | US$535 | US$800 |
| By the hour, as directed | 3-hour minimum | - | US$100/hr | US$125/hr | US$160/hr | US$200/hr |
The First Class SUV is US$345 from O'Hare and US$260 from Midway. All prices are per vehicle, fixed and all-in: chauffeur, vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet. Tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
Give us the flight number. The chauffeur tracks the landing and meets you in the baggage claim area with a name board, the arrangement the Chicago Department of Aviation describes for pre-arranged cars, then walks you to the livery parking across from the terminal (flychicago.com). Waiting after a tracked landing is complimentary, which matters when a spring storm delays the inbound bank of flights. Hotels on the McCormick campus or in the South Loop are not on the fixed downtown list; enter the hotel in the web booker and it quotes a fixed fare for that address. See O'Hare and Midway airport transfers and meet and greet.
Hotel to McCormick Place: the daily run
Each morning the question is the same: which building, which gate, and what time is your first session or booth shift. McCormick Place has separate main entrances and multiple transportation gates and loading zones for the North, South, West and Lakeside Center buildings, and the venue asks visitors to check which building their event uses. HIMSS publishes the building plan with the agenda; give the desk the building when you book, and the chauffeur sets you down at the closest gate a car may use.
There are three ways to book the run:
- A one-way drop each morning. Enter your hotel and McCormick Place in the web booker for a fixed fare. Cheapest if your day ends at the show and you are happy to make your own way back.
- A drop and a set pickup. Book both legs with the return time agreed, for example 5:45 p.m. after the floor closes. The chauffeur waits at an agreed point away from the busiest gates, and you walk straight to the car.
- A car by the hour. For booth managers, sales leaders and executives with meetings off-site, an hourly chauffeur keeps one car and one driver with you, from US$100 an hour in a business sedan to US$200 in an Executive Sprinter, three hours minimum.
On busy event days, McCormick Place itself suggests that app-ride passengers choose Gate 40, on the west side of the West Building on S. Indiana Avenue, to get away faster. That tells you how crowded the main loading zones become at closing. A pre-booked chauffeur avoids the hunt: the pickup point is fixed before the day starts, and the car is there when you walk out.
Meetings, hosted buyers and client dinners
HIMSS is a deal show. Vendors bring sales teams and executives; health systems bring buying committees; investors schedule back-to-back meetings with start-ups. Many of those meetings happen off the floor, in the Loop, Fulton Market and River North, and the days run long.
For days like that, two packages fit:
- Full-day chauffeur (8 hours): from US$740 in a business sedan to US$1,475 in an Executive Sprinter.
- Corporate roadshow day (10 hours): from US$900 in a business sedan to US$1,800 in an Executive Sprinter. One chauffeur, one vehicle, the whole schedule, waiting curbside between meetings and adjusting when one runs long.
Evenings fill with customer dinners, user-group receptions and partner parties. The evening out and event night package (5 hours) runs from US$500 in a business sedan to US$1,000 in an Executive Sprinter: the car collects you at the hotel, waits through dinner, and takes you on to a second event or back. For a sponsor hosting a dinner, the desk can stage several cars to collect guests from different hotels and return them after. See conference and trade show transportation, event transportation and roadshow chauffeurs.
Teams, exhibitors and delegations
An Executive Sprinter moves a team and its bags together, from US$560 from O'Hare to downtown or US$200 an hour. For a large exhibitor, the desk books several vehicles on one confirmation, with staggered arrivals, a daily hotel loop and a departure plan for Thursday afternoon. See group transportation and Sprinter van with driver.
International delegations and C-suite guests often want discretion. The desk can book the same chauffeur for the week, keep passenger names off signage on request, and sign an NDA. Elly8.net is a car service, not a security company; where a principal travels with protection, the chauffeur follows the security team's plan. For ministry and agency visitors, see government and diplomatic transportation.
Companies that book regularly can open a corporate account with monthly invoicing and saved traveller profiles. Event planners and travel advisers booking for clients can use travel agent accounts.
Honest alternatives: the L, Metra, buses, taxis and apps
Chicago has unusually good transit access to its convention centre, and for many attendees it is the right answer.
From the airports. The CTA Blue Line runs 24 hours from O'Hare, about 40 to 45 minutes to downtown, and a trip starting at O'Hare costs US$5. The Orange Line from Midway takes 20 to 25 minutes to the Loop (CTA airports). The airport puts the average O'Hare to downtown taxi fare at about US$50 and Midway at US$35 to US$40, on the meter.
To McCormick Place. According to the venue's public transportation page, the Metra Electric line stops inside the Grand Concourse of the South Building, about seven minutes from downtown. The CTA Green Line's Cermak-McCormick Place station is two blocks from the West Building; a regular L fare is US$2.50. The #3 King Drive bus runs along Michigan Avenue past many downtown hotels, with a one-way bus fare of US$2.25. Taxis know the campus well.
| Option | Price | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metra Electric to the South Building | Metra fare | Solo attendees near Millennium Station | Peak trains crowded at closing |
| CTA Green Line or #3 bus | US$2.50 L / US$2.25 bus | Light bags, any downtown hotel | A walk to your building in bad weather |
| Taxi or rideshare | Metered or set by the app | Short notice | Queues and surge at closing time |
| Elly8.net hourly car | From US$100/hr, 3-hour minimum, fixed | Meetings off-site, executives, teams | Book early for show week |
A pre-booked car wins when your day has several stops, when you are hosting clients, when a team travels together, or when you land late with bags. See chauffeur vs taxi and Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur.
Before or after the show
If you have a spare day, the private city highlights tour runs from US$400 in a business sedan to US$800 in an Executive Sprinter, and the signature Lake Geneva, Wisconsin day trip is a 10-hour package from US$920 to US$1,840. Many attendees also continue to other Midwest meetings: the same desk books Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Detroit and St. Louis, and longer drives through city-to-city car service.
Rides in Chicago are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Frequently asked questions
When and where is HIMSS27?
HIMSS27 runs from April 5 to 8, 2027 at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. Monday, April 5 is preconference day with separate registration; the conference and exhibition run Tuesday, April 6 to Thursday, April 8. The exhibition closes at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
How much is a car from O'Hare for HIMSS27?
A fixed transfer from O'Hare to the Loop or Magnificent Mile costs US$215 in a business sedan, US$280 in a business SUV, US$345 in a First Class SUV, US$380 in a First Class sedan and US$560 in an Executive Sprinter, per vehicle and all-in. From Midway it starts at US$160.
Can the chauffeur drop me at my McCormick Place building?
Yes. Tell us which building your sessions or booth are in, North, South, West or Lakeside Center, and the chauffeur uses the closest gate a car may use. For the return, agree a pickup point and time so you are not searching the loading zones at closing.
Should I book hourly or one-way rides?
One-way rides suit a simple hotel-to-show day. If you have meetings off-site, client lunches or a dinner in the evening, an hourly car from US$100 an hour, or the 10-hour roadshow day from US$900, is usually simpler and often cheaper than several separate trips.
Can you move our whole team?
Yes. An Executive Sprinter carries a team with luggage, and the desk books several vehicles on one confirmation with staggered times. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing are available for exhibitors and sponsors.
Is the train a better option?
For one attendee with light luggage, often yes. The Blue Line runs 24 hours from O'Hare for US$5, and Metra Electric stops inside McCormick Place. A car makes more sense for groups, heavy bags, child seats, late flights or a day of meetings across the city.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup for free. Within 72 hours the charge is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. Refunds go back to the original card.
