ECR 2027, the European Congress of Radiology, takes place from 3 to 7 March 2027 at the Austria Center Vienna, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz 1, in Vienna's 22nd district, according to the European Society of Radiology. The 2026 congress welcomed a record 22,418 participants from 121 countries, per the ESR, and the 2027 theme is Healthcare Reimagined. For five days, radiologists, researchers, industry teams and hospital managers fill the hotels of the Innere Stadt and move between the Ring and the congress centre by the Danube every morning and evening.
Elly8.net books the car for that trip at a fixed, all-in price charged in US dollars: Vienna International Airport (VIE) to the Innere Stadt from US$125 in a business sedan to US$325 in an Executive Sprinter, and a chauffeur by the hour from US$85. Rides in Vienna are operated by licensed, commercially insured local chauffeur partners vetted through the Limousine Worldwide network; Elly8.net takes the booking, fixes the price and runs the 24/7 desk. Full details are on our Vienna car service page.
How do you get from Vienna airport to ECR?
The Austria Center Vienna is about 23.5 km (14.6 mi) and 26 minutes by road from VIE on a clear road. During rail works, the City Airport Train runs as a coach to Wien Mitte, and an airport bus line serves Kaisermühlen VIC by the congress centre. A pre-booked Elly8.net transfer to the Innere Stadt costs from US$125, fixed and all-in.
Most congress guests stay in the city centre rather than beside the Austria Center, so the airport run usually ends at a hotel on or near the Ring, about 21 km (13 mi) and 26 minutes from VIE. The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and complimentary waiting after a tracked landing covers a slow passport queue after a long-haul flight. If you are going straight to the congress, or staying near the Vienna International Centre, the web booker gives a fixed price to that address.
The rail works: what changes for March 2027
This is the single most important transport fact for ECR 2027. The ESR's travel page warns that rail services between Vienna Airport and the city centre are affected from 7 September 2026 to 31 October 2027, because of major construction and the temporary closure of the S-Bahn core line. During that period, according to the ESR and the City Airport Train:
- The CAT runs as a premium coach. It operates nonstop between the airport and Wien Mitte/Landstrasse every 12 to 15 minutes, with the first departure from Wien Mitte at 05:30 and the last from the airport at 23:37. City check-in at Wien Mitte is not available, and the ESR has arranged a discount on CAT tickets for ECR participants booked online.
- Long-distance trains continue. ÖBB Railjet and Intercity trains run twice an hour to Wien Hauptbahnhof, about 15 minutes, and the REX7 regional express takes about 20 minutes.
- The S7 is shortened. It runs only as far as St. Marx, with onward connections by tram, bus and metro.
- The Vienna Airport Bus runs a line from the airport to Kaisermühlen VIC and the Vienna International Centre, the closest stop to the Austria Center.
None of this affects a private transfer, which uses the motorway. It does matter if you planned to take the train with a heavy bag, a poster tube or a family, and it means more people than usual will be looking for taxis at arrivals.
Getting between the hotels and the Austria Center
The ESR's advice is clear: from Stephansplatz, take the U1 underground (red line, direction Leopoldau) to Kaisermühlen VIC. It is quick, frequent and the right choice for most delegates on most days. By road, the Austria Center is about 6 km (3.8 mi) and 13 minutes from Stephansplatz on a clear road, across the Danube.
Where a car earns its keep:
- The first and last days, when you have luggage and a flight to catch.
- Industry and faculty days, when one person has meetings at the congress, a hospital visit in the city and a dinner in Grinzing.
- Evenings, when the congress dinners and company receptions are in palaces, restaurants and wine taverns across the city.
- Groups, where one Executive Sprinter costs less per person than several taxis.
| Route | Distance | Clear-road drive | Elly8.net booking |

The plan for congress week
Arrival day. Book VIE with your flight number. Vienna Airport handles passengers in Terminals 1, 1A and 3, according to Vienna Airport; your confirmation shows the meeting point in arrivals and the chauffeur's contact details, and the 24/7 desk moves the pickup if a connection through Frankfurt, Munich or Zurich slips. See airport transfers and meet and greet.
Congress days. Most delegates use the U1. If you prefer a car, an hourly booking from US$85 in a business sedan, with a 3-hour minimum, covers the morning drop and a return at an agreed time. The chauffeur drops you at the nearest point a car may stop at the Austria Center; on busy mornings, the venue and the police set the drop-off, and we follow them.
Industry teams. Exhibitors and company teams often need a car on standby all day for client meetings, speakers and equipment. A full-day chauffeur (8 hours) runs from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter, and a corporate roadshow day (10 hours) from US$765 to US$1,530. Several cars over five days can sit on one corporate account with monthly invoicing. See conference and trade show transportation.
Evenings. The evening out and event night package, 5 hours from US$425 in a business sedan to US$850 in an Executive Sprinter, covers a reception and dinner with the car waiting outside. In the old city, many lanes inside the Ring are narrow or one-way, and the chauffeur drops you at the door or the nearest point a car may stop.
Departure. The congress closes on Sunday, 7 March. Book the return transfer when you book the arrival; the round trip is listed from US$240.
Prices for ECR week
Prices on the Vienna price list do not change for the congress. They are per vehicle, fixed and all-in, charged in US dollars, including the chauffeur, the vehicle, taxes, standard gratuity and airport meet and greet; tolls, parking and waiting beyond the included time are billed at cost.
- VIE to the Innere Stadt: US$125 in a business sedan, US$165 in a business SUV, US$200 in a First Class SUV, US$220 in a First Class Sedan and US$325 in an Executive Sprinter.
- By the hour, as directed (3-hour minimum): from US$85 in a business sedan and US$110 in a business SUV to US$170 in an Executive Sprinter.
- Evening out and event night (5 hours): from US$425 to US$850.
- Full-day chauffeur (8 hours): from US$630 to US$1,255.
- Corporate roadshow day (10 hours): from US$765 to US$1,530.
Every price is on the Vienna fares panel, and the fleet page shows what each vehicle seats and carries. Congress weeks fill Vienna's hotels and its chauffeur diaries, so reserve now.
Honest alternatives: the U1, the CAT coach, taxis
The U1. For getting between the Innere Stadt and the Austria Center on a normal congress day, the underground is fast and inexpensive, and the ESR encourages public transport as part of its green meeting. Take it.
The CAT coach and the trains. For a solo traveller with a carry-on staying near Wien Mitte, the CAT coach is hard to beat, and the ESR discount makes it cheaper still. The Railjet to Hauptbahnhof suits hotels near the main station.
Taxis and app rides. Taxis wait at the airport, and Uber operates in Vienna. For a short ride off-peak, either is fine. During the rail works and at congress close, demand is higher.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins when the arrival matters more than the fare: a delegation that must reach the congress on time, a speaker landing the morning of a session, a team with equipment, a family, or a group of four or more. See chauffeur vs taxi and Uber Black vs a pre-booked chauffeur.
Before or after the congress
Many delegates add a day. The signature Vienna day trip is the Wachau Valley, an 8-hour package along the Danube from US$630 in a business sedan to US$1,255 in an Executive Sprinter, with time for the abbey at Melk and wine tastings in the valley; the chauffeur follows local rules, and nobody in your party has to drive. The private city highlights tour, from US$340 to US$680, links Schönbrunn, the Belvedere and the Ring; Vienna's official tourism site has opening times, and our private city tours page explains how the day works. Vienna is also a good base for a second city: we run the same fixed-price service in Prague, Budapest and Munich, and long transfers between them are booked through city to city car service.
