The Carnaval de Nice runs from 9 to 28 February 2027, according to the official Carnival site, run by the Ville de Nice. It calls itself the premier international carnival in France and the most important winter event on the Côte d'Azur. The carnival parades fill Place Masséna and the streets around the Jardin Albert I with giant floats, a hundred or so giant heads, street-art troupes and music, while the Flower Parades on the Promenade des Anglais send floats decked in fresh flowers past grandstands facing the sea.
For a visitor, the carnival changes how the centre of Nice works. On parade days the heart of the city becomes a ticketed, fenced enclosure with security checks, tram stops close, and the streets you would normally drive along are part of the route. Elly8.net plans airport arrivals, hotel drop-offs and evening cars around that perimeter, at fixed, all-in prices that do not change for carnival weeks.
How do you get to the Nice Carnival without getting stuck?
Arrive early, on foot for the last stretch. The organiser asks spectators to come two hours before the show, without bags, through the entrance printed on the ticket. Book a chauffeur to drop you at an agreed point outside the enclosure and collect you there afterwards; on parade days cars cannot reach Place Masséna itself.
The festivities area covers Place Masséna, the Jardin Albert I, the Théâtre de Verdure and the eastern Promenade des Anglais down towards the Quai des États-Unis, with grandstands on Place Masséna (Zone A) and along the Promenade and Avenue de Verdun (Zone B). The official access page is direct about it: checks at every entrance, a compulsory entrance shown on each ticket, and any exit from the site is final.
Security is serious. Under France's Vigipirate plan, the city sets up security gates, mandatory bag opening and pat-downs at the entrances, and the security page lists suitcases, shopping bags and other luggage among the items that will be confiscated. That alone is a reason to plan the day around the hotel: land, check in, leave the bags, then go to the parade.
Arriving at Nice Côte d'Azur Airport
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is about 10 km (6 mi) from the Promenade des Anglais, around 25 minutes on a clear road. It has two terminals, and your flight number tells the chauffeur which one. Most North American visitors arrive on a connection through a European hub, so expect a short-haul arrival even on a long trip.
| Route | Distance | Business Sedan | Business SUV | First Class Sedan | Executive Sprinter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NCE to the Promenade des Anglais | about 10 km (6 mi), about 25 min clear | US$110 | US$145 | US$195 | US$290 |
| NCE round trip | same | US$210 | US$280 | US$375 | US$555 |
The chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you inside arrivals with a name board and waits at no charge after a tracked landing. On a parade afternoon, the route into the centre avoids the closed streets around Place Masséna and the eastern Promenade; we confirm the drop-off at your hotel door or, if the hotel sits inside the restricted area, the nearest point the police allow. Read more on airport transfers and meet and greet. If you arrive by private aircraft, see private jet and FBO car service and tell us the handler when you book.
Hotels along the western Promenade, in the Musiciens quarter and around Jean Médecin are the easiest to reach on parade days. Hotels on the Quai des États-Unis and near the Old Town sit beside the enclosure; residents of the Vieux Nice enter and leave by the Descente Crotti with proof of address, according to the organiser. Tell us your hotel when you book and we will tell you how close the car can get.
A carnival day and night with a chauffeur
Afternoon parades. The car drops you at an agreed corner outside the enclosure, timed for the two-hour early arrival the organiser recommends. The chauffeur waits in the area or returns at the time you set, and the pickup point is confirmed by text, since phones are busy in a crowd.
Night parades. The illuminated evening parades finish late, and everyone leaves at once. A five-hour evening package covers dinner before the parade, the wait and the drive home, and the same car takes you on to a restaurant in Villefranche or a hotel in Monaco afterwards. The chauffeur follows local rules on drinks in vehicles.
Riviera days. Carnival weeks are a good time to see the coast. The signature Èze and Monaco day (6 hours) climbs the Moyenne Corniche to the hilltop village of Èze and continues to Monte-Carlo. The private city highlights tour covers the Old Town, the Colline du Château viewpoint, Cimiez and the Promenade on a day without parades.

Staying in Monaco or Cannes for the carnival
Many visitors stay along the coast rather than in Nice itself. On our routing, Place Masséna is about 21 km (13 mi) from Monaco and about 33 km (21 mi) from Cannes, each roughly half an hour on a clear road. Carnival nights load the coastal roads at the same hour as the parade crowd, so a fixed-price car booked for both directions removes the guesswork. See our Monaco car service and Cannes car service pages for their own airport prices, and Nice car service for everything in the city. For a ski add-on after the carnival, Courchevel is on the network too.
Groups, families and hospitality guests
Carnival tickets are sold for grandstands and pedestrian areas, and the organiser's location page currently lists adult prices starting from €7 for a Zone B pedestrian area and from €23 for a Zone A grandstand seat on Place Masséna. Groups and companies have a dedicated business and groups section on the official site. Once the tickets are sorted, an Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers with room for coats and pushchairs at US$180 per hour, which keeps a family or a client group together through the drop-off and the exit.
There is no minimum age for the carnival, and pushchairs are allowed, per the organiser's FAQs. Child seats are available on request in our vehicles; tell us each child's age when you book. For companies hosting clients on the grandstands, our event transportation and group transportation pages explain how we schedule several cars to one exit point. Festival-style evenings are covered on concert and festival transportation. A corporate account puts every ride on one monthly invoice, and agencies can book through travel-agent accounts.
Carnival transport options compared honestly
The organiser publishes a full transport page, and public transport is the official recommendation for most spectators.
| Option | Cost | Best for | Weak point |
|---|---|---|---|
| TER regional train | Regional fare; round trip bookable in advance | Visitors staying between Cannes and Menton | 15-minute walk from Nice-Ville station; crowded after parades |
| Tram line 1 or 2 | Lignes d'Azur fares | Hotels on the tram lines | Line 1 skips Masséna and two Old Town stops during events |
| Parcazur park and ride | Lignes d'Azur round-trip ticket required | Drivers from outside Nice | Parking near the site is affected by closures |
| Taxi from the airport rank | Fixed rate, €32 to Nice centre per the airport | Arrivals with no booking | Cannot enter the closed streets either |
| Elly8.net chauffeur | From US$110 airport transfer, US$90 per hour | Families, groups, coast hotels, night parades | Book ahead; carnival weekends fill early |
During the carnival, according to the organiser, a TER regional train runs every 15 minutes between Cannes and Menton, with extra trains after 11 p.m. for the night parades, and Nice-Ville station is a 15-minute walk from the site. On tram line 1, Masséna station closes during events, as do Cathédrale-Vieille Ville and Opéra-Vieille Ville, with connections to line 2 at Jean Médecin and Garibaldi; line 2 runs normally. Drivers are directed to A8 exit 50 for the Promenade des Anglais or exit 54 for Nice Nord, and to the five Parcazur park-and-ride sites on the tram lines.
From the airport, tram line 2 reaches the city centre in under 30 minutes, and the rank taxi's fixed rate to Nice centre is €32, as published on the airport's taxi page. For one traveller with a carry-on and a hotel on the tram, those are sensible choices. A pre-booked chauffeur wins for families with child seats, groups that would need two taxis, a hotel in Monaco, Cap Ferrat or the hills, and late nights after the illuminated parade. Frequently asked questions
When is the Nice Carnival 2027?
From 9 to 28 February 2027, according to the official Carnival site. The programme mixes daytime carnival parades and illuminated night parades on Place Masséna with Flower Parades on the Promenade des Anglais; check the official events page for each date and time.
Can a car drop me at Place Masséna during a parade?
No. On parade days the area becomes a fenced enclosure with security checks, and cars stay outside. The chauffeur drops you at an agreed point nearby, timed for the two-hour early arrival the organiser recommends, and collects you there after the show.
How much is a Nice airport transfer during the carnival?
The price does not change for the carnival. Nice airport to the Promenade des Anglais is US$110 in a business sedan, US$145 in a business SUV and US$290 in an Executive Sprinter, all-in, with meet and greet inside arrivals.
Can I bring my luggage to the parade?
No. The organiser's security rules list suitcases, shopping bags and other luggage among prohibited items, and they are confiscated at the gates. Go to your hotel first. If you are leaving Nice the same evening, the chauffeur can hold your bags in the car while you watch.
Is the tram or the train a better option?
For one person on the tram or rail line, often yes. Tram line 2 runs normally, and TER regional trains run every 15 minutes between Cannes and Menton during the carnival, with extra late trains. A chauffeur suits families, groups, Monaco or Cannes hotels and late night parades.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes, on request. Tell us each child's age and weight when you book so the right seat is fitted before pickup. The carnival has no minimum age and pushchairs are allowed on site, and an SUV or Sprinter keeps a family and a pushchair together.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup and it is free. At 72 hours or less the fee is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. Refunds go to the original card. Times can be changed through the 24/7 desk.
Can you move a group of hospitality guests?
Yes. An Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers at US$180 per hour in Nice, and larger groups book several vehicles under one reference with one meeting point. Corporate accounts receive one monthly invoice with a reference per traveller.
